Volpe had miles better defensive numbers than Winn, only thing Winn has over Volpe is the arm. OAA is 14 for Volpe compared to 3 for Winn. And fangraphs likes volpes defense a lot better too. Neither dude is amazing offensively so it’s a draw pretty much there since Volpe has the speed that Winn doesn’t have. I don’t think it’s that crazy to have Volpe over Winn.

I'm a lifelong Royals fan and I can definitely say Bobby Witt is probably the best player they've had in my lifetime (I was born after George Brett retired unfortunately). He's definitely the real deal, making the Royals great again. Overall last year was probably the most fun year to be a Royals fan since 2015 (sorry to bring up painful memories Marc lol).

No complaints here with your rankings, Marc. As an Orioles fan I'd loved to have seen Gunnar at the top of the list, but my brain overruled my heart. Bobby had a truly amazing year and was fully deserving of all the acolades. That said, it was just one season, and I'll be eager to see if Gunnar can leapfrog him in 2025. Going forward, I hear a lot of talk that the O's won't extend him because he's a Scott Boras client. That's crazy, the club _has to extend him,_ because like Witt, Henderson's a generational talent.

Speaking as a Royals fan, Witt and Gunnar are going to have their careers intertwined for the rest of their time in the league. Two young superstar shortstops from the same draft class playing in the AL together. I imagine these two are going to be trading back and forth every year who is better, and I wouldn’t be surprised if these two both win multiple MVPs in their careers. I really can’t wait, because these two are going to be the faces of the AL for the next decade.

Using errors to judge good defense is such a horrifically flawed way to look at it when Elly’s range allow him to make plays that other players can’t. I’d much rather Elly, who can make any play that comes his way in exchange for the errors than a guy who doesn’t make very many errors, but also lacks the range to even attempt to make the crazy plays Elly can.

I like Lindor but don't make ridiculous statements- here are some names that have done more at the position in their careers and are more the GOAT as shortstops. = H. Wagner, T. Jackson, E. Banks, C. Ripken Jr., D. Jeter, A. Rodriquez these are all around SS. Defensive SS- O. Smith, O. Vizguel, M. Belanger (probably the greatest defensive SS- and I am saying this as a person who has hated the Orioles for over sixty years)
