That Midna reveal, honey, me too. She was so freaking pretty. I didn't have an awakening with her, but she was so dang iconic. I'll never forget running as wolf Link in the rain with the music to save her. She sets the bar too for not only cool reveals, but her feisty small form too has plenty of people loving her even if she never had the looks like a goddess reveal. And she should be the standard for a side kick helpful guide in video games, because I was totally invested in her story and liked everything about her. Pretty true to life of real goths. They're pretty accepting of people as long as you're a generally nice, non-judgmental person. The cliché of the goth character being genuinely dark and brooding is a product of its time more than a stereotype with a root in reality. Even Raven from Teen Titans, the more modern "dark, brooding, serious goth" stereotype is defied because she clarifies in the show that she's capable of feeling emotions and does genuinely love her friends; the issue comes from her demonic power being tied to her emotional state, and so she suppresses how she feels to keep them safe.

Have to do a super thanks 35min in because you are pulling cartoons that was deep in the vault for this list. As someone who was born in 2003 I remember a great amount of shows due to fact of growing up with 2000s,2010s and 90s or older due to reruns and back when Netflix was good as in basically every single show was on there before streaming was more prominent. Also pretty much all the free time in world. There a lot of stuff I remember that people don't especially when it comes to cartoon. So giving you major props for all the work you done. Small note: Danny Phantom is continuing in graphic novels. The first one a glitch in time came out an year ago,it was pretty good, received many positive responses. With a sequel coming out fall of 2025. Just like spreading the word out as much possible.

Naw, they are literally not old enough for that. The Hex Girls predate Shego by three years and Raven (in a TV show) by four. (Raven in comics is another matter: she recently hit 44 as her first appearance was in Oct, 1980.) Rogue in X-Men: Evolution was the year following the Hex Girls, and Ikra in Samurai Jack the year after that, so they both predate Shego as well. One of the oldest characters on this list (besides various depictions of Death, though not the particular ones featured here) is actually Morticia - though not named until the tv show was made in 1964, her original creation dates back to the 1930's as a comic strip character. She was also in an Addams Family cartoon in the early 90's, predating both shows you reference by a decade.

I think Stein was my second too. I think my first was Sesshomaru from Inuyasha. Another who probably doesn't qualify due to not being a main stay in the cast, was Sasori from Naruto, but he's more pretty boy in looks, but terrifying as a villain. Could easily fit a sort of gothic-ish sorta level given that he's literally a puppet. Doll coming to kill you kinda thing. I literally started watching the show due to fan art about him and his aesthetic. Same with Stein actually to watch Soul Eater, that and the funny memes.

Hey, I would like to say that I audibly gasped when you said Legion of Superheroes. Just needed to get that out there for the representation of that tiny fandom lol. Also yeah, B5 is definitely shipped with superman but in all fairness the first 10 mins of the 2nd season is all the justification needed for that also I think there's an argument that Phantom Girl and TimberWolf are the bigger goth girl/boy reps in the series than violet.

1:01:39 as someone who actually watched S3, I can safely say the show kinda toned down the jokes and S3 is much more serious. With that said, Ash's fall is genuinely heartbreaking and taken very seriously and its amazing. Please watch S3. It's the best season of the show and absolute peak. I love this show.
