Thanks, this is so helpful in figuring out what to play next!! I've played some of these but others have been sitting on my wishlist. One friendly critique I'd like to mention is that as people who love and support indie games, I would counter the idea of measuring a game's value by how long you can play for (like $1 = 1 hour). Already indie devs sell their years of hard work for a really low price compared to other games, and sometimes a 2-3 hour experience can really be incredibly enough to charge $10+, or vice-versa. Just my thoughts, but I appreciate the thought that you put into sharing your opinions of these games :)

@@Eeowna Im agreeig with Eeowna. If you dont have a lot of money and cant buy a new game every month, how long you can play a game is definititly a big factor. 30 $ for a game that u finish after 10 hours is simply not worth the money for most people who wants to game every evening.

Cassette Beasts is one of my absolute favorites, I got it on gamepass and have still considered buying it because given how much I enjoy it I feel like I should give the devs money. I love pokemon, I've played every generation, and this game blew them all out of the water and was very different. The story is so incredible, the characters are delightful, the gameplay is fun and has a more interesting spin on it... my only criticism is that I think I will be comparing all pokemon games to it in future and they will all fall short!

So glad you covered Crime O'Clock! I'm playing it pretty slowly, but I was also pleased that is definitely playable on the handheld although a couple of the mini games took me a while to figure out because the color contrast was a little difficult to see on the small screen.

I'm enjoying Little Friends: Puppy Island so much! Leveling up your dogs and the exploration tied into the plotline were way more detailed than I expected. I really like the game's progression!!

I grabbed EverDream Valley with no knowledge of what happened in the game past the first two days. I've really enjoyed the art style of the game, the farming mechanics, and running around in circles in the forest! What I didn't enjoy was the lack of direction - I spent multiple in game days doing a whole lot of nothing to progress the story! That's not always a bad thing, but in the case of learning how to feed my animals on DAY EIGHT and getting my spade on DAY FOURTEEN! yeah. not good. My game has crashed about three times so far with the auto save not really working, like I lost the recipe to make shelters for my animals but the game doesn't recognize that and continues on in the story. I'll absolutely continue to play and explore the world, but I'm def looking forward to bug fixes.

not one single person asked but! i tried spending a few days farming, decorating and such and found that the dialogue of the game is so flat. grandpa only tells dad jokes and grandma gives updates on her health. there has been literally nothing else - no stories, no lore, nothing!

@@blaskiewicz I totally agree with your assessment of the game. I got sort of stuck on one quest to bring animals (sheep, if I remember correctly) to a pen but a goose was in the same area that the sheep were and kept attacking me, which created a "wound" and I'd lose stamina very rapidly. I had to get a band-aid type remedy for the goose bites but every time I tried to gather up the sheep, the goose would attack me multiple times, using up my supply of remedies. I found that to be terribly frustrating, and it was just one of many frustrations that caused me to refund the game on steam (I played the PC version, not the switch version).

I just got and finished Everdream Valley on the PS4, and had no trouble. I agree…it’s so beautiful and cute and creative, but once quests are done, it’s not that great to keep doing the same stuff day after day. Anyway- I love these videos. I’m saving up to buy a Switch! So, love these ranking videos.

They only thing i didnt like about EDV is that the patch isnt out for switch yet, so I cant use the polite wolves setting. I got tired of chasing my animals around so put it down until that is out. I havent had the crash problem. But i will start saving more hahaha

So I’m actually struggling with Story of Seasons: A Wonderful Life a bit… First I should say, that my first game from this franchise was Harvest Moon Tree of Tranquility, and then I played several of the other games (both Harvest Moon and Story of Seasons), so for me there definitely has been a huge adjustment to having to focus more on the storylines of the villagers instead of crops and animals to collect to advance the story (like making recipes to give to the harvest sprites). The issue I’m running into is for the first year I was trying to balance growing my farm and crops first, and then head into town. However, I felt like most days i just ran around each building and area hoping I’d run into a cut scene. I gave items to each towny that I could romance, but yet I couldn’t figure out the timing of when I might get cutscenes from them. I think I got 3 from Gustafa and Nami, and 1 from Matthew and Cecilia, and then two cutscenes with Nina (one with her and Hugh). Other than that… nothing. I’m trying to do this first play through without looking things up to cheat the autonomy of finding these things by myself, but I’m about halfway through year two and I feel like I missed so much at the beginning that it might be halting other cutscenes. Like, none of the romance characters married each other, so now in year two there’s only 1 kid that’s around my child’s age. Am I playing it wrong? How do you get these interactions with the characters? Only twice have I come across dialog that came up because a character was in a specific area (once with Gary and once with Garrett).

What a great video, now I know what I want to play if I want to wait for it to be on sale or not❤ plus I still can't get over how (not a farming sim) but how the last campfire was only about £2, fully voice acted and a great puzzle solving game that was emotive and pretty thought provoking ❤ most games cost so much more, have little if no voice acting and don't last long or have replay ability - similar to how I feel about most Pokémon games

I can now see why I was drawn to Pretty Princess lol just wish the price tag wasn't so high :/ That sucks you can't customize your character really though. I grabbed Everdream Valley on 40% off on Switch. Haven't started it but had played the demo on Steam Deck so am looking forward to starting it. Hopefully the bugs will be ironed out by then. Fall of Porcupine is on my Wishlist. Wish we'd gotten the demo heh but it looks really interesting but definitely need to wait for bug fixes, especially for the motion sickness. Will definitely wait for a sale too. I'm glad you did enjoy SoS AWL. I got my premium edition preorder and am so excited to get playing (I'm trying to complete Wylde Flowers first lol) and played the OG version so am okay with the less modernized stuff but happy for the changes they did make at least. I hope they bring some of the things into their OG games - and keeping everything crossed that they'll remaster Magical Melody next!!

Hey!!! I’ve been toying with the idea of purchasing Everdream Valley but I keep seeing mixed things about the ending and can’t seem to find a solid answer. If anyone could help me out I’d really appreciate it. Is the game complete or is it early access? I keep hearing that it just “ends” without gaining full access to the map. I bought Everdream Valley on steam for the PC because it looked like the kind of game I typically love. I didn't really have any performance issues, but I had problems with some of the animals. I was supposed to round up a bunch of sheep and bring them to a pen behind the barn. The problem was that a goose (or maybe it was more than one) was loose in the same area where the sheep were and the goose would attack and bite me, causing "wounds" that drained my stamina. I had to get the recipe to make a cure for the goose bites, but even after I'd make a bunch of those and go back to the area to try to roundup the sheep, the goose would constantly attack until I was out of the bandaids again, and the sheep would run off before I could get them all the way back to the farm. I also felt that the game didn't give you enough information about what you needed to do next. I finally refunded the game on steam because of my frustrations with the game. I was terribly disappointed in the gameplay since it really seemed like the type of game I usually adore.

A Wonderful Life definitely let’s you appreciate the characters more. I did attempt to talk/become friends with many in Pioneers of Olive Town and while the cutscenes where interesting their are a lot of characters so you can easily skip over some. Here I feel that’s basically impossible

I have Everdream Valley, but I’m waiting for a patch before attempting that one. I think I’ll like it, though! Can you save manually with that one? SOS AWL for me has definitely been different compared to all of the other farming sims I’ve ever played, but I’m really liking it for what it is! It’s challenging me to get out of my comfort zone a bit with all of the socializing and the time jumps - I normally ignore villagers and do my own thing in all of my farming sims 😂 I like that AWL is different in that aspect.

Little friends puppy islands is actually not the first game in the series. There's another game that's been out for several years called little friends dogs and cats. It didn't control well AT ALL and the music was so annoyingly repetitive.

I kinda regret getting everdream Valley on the switch. The game is literally unplayable due to the save crashes. Still hasn't been a patch out yet and with Nintendo needing to approve patches. A fix for this will takes ages.

I've got 20 hours on it so far and i feel like I'm maybe half way through but i AM quite over leveled. the game could really do with level scaling because i ended up doing a lot of it completely out of order lol. i didnt even know it was on switch! its such a great little monster collecting game, glad to see it on your list. if youve never played MicroMacro its VERY similar in concept to crime o clock except its a table top game. i recommend checking it out if you really liked crime o clock

So my third chicken is totally lost on Everdrean Island. I've watched several walkthroughs and it's just not where it's supposed to be so I agree about the game being glitchy. I also agree with you 100% with your review of story of seasons. I didn't play the original so I have nothing to compare it to either. I wish there was more content (I'm still in the first year) I find that they keep saying the same things over and over again and that my town was bigger.

I think I'm the only person in the world that hated the original A Wonderful Life, lmao. I just didn't get the point of it. It was so boring compared to every other Harvest Moon (at the time) game, and even watching all the KZbinrs playing the remake, I'm still like... "meh". xD I just don't get the hype.
