The Getaway has to be my favorite book in the series *in my opinion.* The Long Haul had a completely different structure, they were on a road trip with random things happening the whole time, like Double Down. The Getaway took place in a paradise-island place, where they explored places which made absolute sense to be there, it felt like an actual exploration of the island, and the entire book was incredibly relatable and spot on, the airplane section is relatable even if you have never gotten on an airplane. *JEFF MANAGED TO DO THAT,* and the island part was relatable, the things that happened there are still relatable when you go to hotels, motels, or rent rooms in a place you don't know.

I can argue that the reason why the random events plots stringed together works well for these books is because they are written as journals of a middle-schooler. Most of them aren't going to be a cohesive whole story unless a large event happened in his life that he wants to go into great detail of, but that's not every single day of everyday life. It's something this series normally excels in.

I remember when this series first came out and my whole friend group hopped on it. Having only the first book and then having to either wait on the book fair or when mom takes you to Walmart so you can pester her to buy you the new one was a challenge though. I stopped reading before hard luck since I aged out of it and all the new books just don’t hit the same as the first 4.

I always remembered my favorite however being Cabin Fever, and also Rodrick Rules, one bc I love the color blue but also bc they were the two I felt were the most memorable. All the books are great, but when I think Diary of a Wimpy Kid, the first two books that come to mind are Rodrick Rules and Cabin Fever

It's crazy to me that every book in the main series is at least decent. I stopped reading them after 9 (idk i guess i just felt like they were no longer worth the price considering how short they are) and felt like every new book was just stretching it, but the fact that every book has at least been decent and some later books are ranked high makes me glad that this series is as popular and relevant as it is. Also it's been forever since I watched the first 3 movies so I can't say whether I agree or not with them being good, but after reading the movie diary I can definitely respect those movies and the process behind making them, and in general I related greatly to the brother aspect between Greg and Rodrick as I am myself a younger brother that isn't too far from my older brother in age.
