I'd probably argue Gon above Kastro and Wing (and Wing probably even lower). Gon is an idiot and yet in battle he constantly demonstrates wits in battle (stone flip x2, coming up with the strategy to beat Razor, perfectly executing the plan against Genthru, the whole Owl/Bat fight and the invisible Knuckle dilemma with Youpi). Wing and Kastro have only shown intelligence outside of battle whilst Kastro crumbled against Hisoka (honestly fair and I admittedly can't remember if we were given a reason why he didn't use Gyo) and we have no reason to believe Wing can keep his cool in battle. Also whilst Wing can probably used advanced Nen techniques like we see the Troupe and Bisky use, I don't think that's enough to say his abilities would be nearly as good in battle in the first place: its plausible but not a fair placement with so little info

Kastro didn't use Gyo because he was too focused on maintaining his hatsu which used conjugation and manipulation, his weakest affinities. And while gon is strong and sometimes smart he also has an impractical hatsu and is too rash with his decisions. His fight versus Genthru was a massive gamble on Gon's part and Gon actually deviated from the original plan which was to have the backup of Killua and Bisky as well. And even then a fully charged rock didn't kill Genthru (but I'll go with Gon just wanted to spare his life). Gon's jajaken uses way too much aura while having an incredibly long startup time. And even then it isn't too strong, couldn't even one shot Rammot who didn't even have Nen.

@@dragodraco7511 The fact we've seen nothing from him. He might be higher but iirc this list penalised characters that lacked feats. How are you going to assess a character who has never fought in the story on their ability to fight. We didn't even see him use any advanced techniques other than Gyo nor a unique Hatsu ability. The only things we have to go off of is that he was Bisky's student, his personality, he was experienced enough to mentor Zushi, Gon and Killua on the basics and he was able to access the 200s in HA. None of those really hold weight without more information on how good a student Wing has to be for Bisky to still be in contact with him

I don't get why people think Gon is an idiot, he only struggles with math and keeping up with large info dumps, but he's literally one of the smartest characters in the series both in combat and outside of it, and when I say one of the smartest I mean it, there are at least 10 instances (more like 20 last time I went over them) where Gon was ahead of everyone including Killua and Kurapika.

If we’re counting Gon palace invasion then he’s much higher, definitely above plinks maybe even above uvogin. Here’s the scaling, Aura works as a metric with amount and output, having a significant amount of aura or output makes you practically immortal to anything with a lot lower output, Morel had around 3x more aura than Gon and a significantly higher output relative to Gons amount, then Gon while actually not going all out (he was holding back a little against morel) would have one shot him with a single rock. (ps having around 6X the amount of aura as someone allows you to tank anything they throw out as long as they’re output isn’t super crazy, and a 6X difference isn’t enough to one shot let alone instantly kill someone) so Gon probability got around 10x stronger and could tank almost any blow thrown at him and his scaling with Rock also significantly increased too, so he could probably one shot almost anyone in the verse. (He also had stats comparable to Whirlwind Killua in a guidebook and surpassed him in strength and aura amount so yea, Gon is a beast)

Where was it stated that Wing was Bisky’s student? I’m a manga reader and I remember it being Stated that Wing was a member of Netero’s Dojo and Zushi by extension. Wing knew about Gon and Killua already through Netero.

More importantly the anime changes a lot of elements and adds elements that aren’t necessarily true to the original story, my point is I don’t remember Wing ever being stated to be a student of Bisky but I do remember Wing himself saying that he was once Netero’s disciple.

After the part where Nobunaga arm wrestles gon and before the part where Gon and Killua try to escape from Nobunaga. Beetween those scenes the other phantom troupe members talk about Nobunaga and Uvo relationship, and say nobunagas skills are more suited for duels (1on1 scenarios).

Netero is not the strongest human or hunter in the world. Netero said himself it’s been decades (half a century?) since he was the strongest or among the strongest. This probably means he doesn’t consider himself a top 5, maybe not even a top 10 nen user anymore. Also, Castro is a bad strategist and really stupid nen user. Gon has shown to be more intelligent with greater ingenuity. He also has greater speed feats than all the troupe members on this list except Uvo (same tier speed feats but Gon has less impressive power feats). I’d knock down Nobunaga and Phinks a few spots (Nobunaga under Gon based on Nobunaga’s own description of himself not being as strong as Uvo but able to keep up + Gon pre greed island beating him in an arm wrestle while enraged). I’d also put Castro below Gon at this point. Enraged gon might be able to beat phinks and Uvo due to better intelligence/ingenuity. Gon just slept on in general, but otherwise good list.

The troupe said Nobunaga skills were more suited than Uvo for 1v1, as for Phinks we need to see more, no way kid good is matching the phantom troupe. Also Nobunaga was one of the weakers in arm wrestling but that isn't a measure on battle strength, he is an iado master that uses nen on his sword. master,
