Fifa got a lot worse once they started focusing on making the games feel a lot more fast paced. Career mode got ruined because everything is insanely high scoring making it feel super unrealistic when playing and ultimate team is just filled with a trash community and is overloaded with events

me personally, FIFA 16 and FIFA 19 hold a special place in my heart. Fifa 16 had Messi and Ronaldo in the pinacle prime, Barcelona going head to head, rising stars of mbappe, antoine griezmann, different teams in the premier league like leicester in 2015/16 and the soundtrack was so beautiful because they were all rock themed, acoustic, 2010 retro styled classics, afro and it had a flavour of music, my personal favourite was Tonight by Coasts, such nostalgic feel whenever i hear it because it just scream FIFA 16. Fifa 19 again was so exciting because even though Ronaldo and Messi were not seen as head, many players were buzzing about like mbappe, salah, mane, dybala, haaland and it was like a unique story tale end to a beautiful era of FIFA and football in general. The FIFA 19 soundtrack was really enjoyable as all songs had a summery, beautiful lush and feel-good wave over it. Tracks like Another level by crystal fughters and Tribe by J Cole x Bas just show how it carried the summer and that season was also magical in terms of many european games being exciting, Liverpool and Man City's head to head season. I might just be writing too much now lmao but both these games are very close to my childhood 💜💜

From what I have learned, the general consensus is that FIFA 17 was the last great FIFA game. And after 17, it all went downhill. I personally own FIFA 13, FIFA 14 World Cup Brazil, and FIFA 15. Love those games! I always go back and play them. I feel that in the FIFA community in general, a lot of people go back and play the 13s,14s, 15s, and 17s. It's just too bad that EA took down the servers for those games. Even up to 2020, there was a very active community in FIFA 15 Ultimate Team. I wish they would bring those servers back up.

I have only played 2 fifa games, first was 2013 and I loved career mode, because the way for your player to get better by completing challenges gave you something to work on each match. after that I just bought 2023 recently and it felt like it was a waste of time, player gets to 80 rating super fast, and it gets better by simple simulation, which takes out the feeling of accomplishment. and sadly after checking videos of 22-24 all of them seem to lack that accomplishment mechanic

Fifa 16 is so underrated. It was the best ignite engine fifa. It had the modernity from fifa 15 but with more balanced and slow gameplay. Fifa 15 was too fast. Yeah it did not have any memorable features but to say the game was bad is just ignorance. If fifa 15 is B tier, Fifa 16 should be A tier atleast. It was better version of fifa 15.

i skip FIFA 15 at that times, just enjoying FIFA 14 with all that mods, then continuing with FIFA 16 to this day with mods tried FIFA 15 few years ago, didnt like it, it was like FIFA 14 just slightly better and prettier FIFA 16, thanks to mods can still be played to this day but i do actually enjoy the game the slower gameplay is much better tactically, and also the 'power pass' the best feature with better defender intercept more intelegency, creating more battle in the midfield

I feel like fifa 23 was a breath of fresh air to die hard fans because although it was fast paced, the careers, customisation and everything in general just seemed smoother and (in my opinion) they really refined manager and player career this year but the problem wasn't really the game but how long it took to get to that point and how unnecessary all that money spending felt. The game is good, the community is just to tired of the repetition to see that. (Also fifa 21 onwards felt like updates to the same game rather than new games which is what I think you meant at the end) I'M a lil excited to see how EA FC is but also fearful it's gonna be dog tbh

Agree with most of the listing. Would move 14 to S tier as i feel its the most balanced fifa game of that generation. I would rank fifa 20 in the C tier along with 19 and others. I believe ffia 19 was the beginning of the end for fifa games and i was right because what followed after become garbage. I believe EA should do away with year release and just release update packs for the game on a yearly basis (LETS BE HONEST THAT WHAT THEY ARE DOING TO TAKE PEOPLE MONEY AT FULL PRICE FOR A NEW GAME) for a small price then focus on building a much better football experience. Next gen games are getting more difficult to develop and to get it right it definitely takes time.

Problem is, for PC gamers there's no way to play the old versions because EA just don't offer them anywhere. Not on Steam, GOG, EA launcher or elsewhere. They just want to sell their new FC 23 garbage. Buying an old PC DVD is als no option as most people don't even have a DVD drive anymore (and don't want to have it in their PC). So if I want to play Fifa 17 my only option is to buy a PS4 I'm afraid :(

U used to could have watched real live videos of memorable moments in them. Played retro games. In fifa 09 u had a be a pro career mode where u started from the reserves and made ur way up to being club captain where u could select the team. And also play international football competition in a 4 year career.

WOW how can you put the broken Fifa 20 above Fifa 19? 20 was such a bad year so many games were released broken. Fifa 19 kept me playing through Fifas 20-23 only 23 made me spend time away from Fifa 19 but ultimately i still olay it to this day regularly. Fifa 14 & 19 - S tier Fifa 12, 16, & 18 would be A tier Fifa 17 (i hated the career mode glitch where players past 30 would have 10 pace) - either A or B tier Fifa 15 C tier The rest i dont care Fifa 19 is still my favorite to this day

I hate how fast paced and unrealistic fifa is getting. Its really just an excuse to release a lazily made product with horribly meshed animations and a casino-like gameplay cycle. I've been playing since FIFA 2000 on the PS1. I honestly feel like FIFA has just gotten progressively worse since FIFA 18. I feel like a lot of people blame the arcade style of gameplay... but that was what made FIFA as popular as it was back in the day. Ever since they went down the sim route, its gotten worse. Gameplay is slow, boring, unresponsive, unrewarding and ridiculously automated- even with all the lock-on settings switched off. I feel like FIFA needs a massive injection of fun, but the GK and defender's AI needs to be completely overhauled to stop the ridiculous scorelines that come with that style of gameplay.

@@vibechek 100%. The lack of competition has made EA complacent. I used to play PES and never understood the hate. I enjoyed them both for different reasons. PES never had the budget to compete with EA, but the competition was there. eFootball was a huge disappointment but even before then recent versions of PES were lacking. It's a shame because now there's nothing. I saw a new game called GOALS is in the works but it's very early days and they don't have anywhere near the budget of a AAA studio. Might be worth a try, though.
