The super smash bros series is known for its large number of characters and stages, but one aspect of the series that often gets overlooked are the items. In super smash bros ultimate there are over 80 items coming from the various franchises represented in the game. Not all items are as good as one another however, so join me as I rank every item in super smash bros ultimate from the worst to the best!

I really like the healing sprout because my friends and I have a pact that whenever it show up, we all yell “COMMUNITY HEALING TIME!!!” and we all rush to get healed. No one is allowed to attack during it, but if someone does, we all go after them for ruining it. Its a fun little fighting break for everyone when it shows up.

Fun fact about the Beam Sword: It actually made a lightsaber sound effect in the Japanese version of Smash 64. It was changed in the American version to avoid copyright

@@BJGvideosI think they likely changed the sound effects so Lucasfilm wouldn’t sue them or something. In later iterations, the sound effects for the Beam Swords became more original and they can even expand and retract in certain animations, further severing them from the original source material

I doubt this will change the ranking of it much, but I just wanna point out that the Killing Edge has a bit of a mechanic; if you strike someone when the blade glows pink, its damage AND knockback are doubled. It also works on a timer, the glowing appearing after 4 seconds for about 90 frames before going back to normal, so there's actually some strategy to it since you can time it. The video itself only glossed over the double damage so I figured I could mention it.

In previous Smash games, Captain Falcon and Shiek used to have unique Forward Smash attacks with the Star Rod where they'd launch multiple stars. Captain Falcon launched a single star followed by a barrage of three stars, and Shiek just launched a second star after the first one. I'm sad those unique attacks were removed from Ultimate.

I never got the use of the Smoke Ball. So it can obscure opponents - but isn't that more of a disadvantage for you since they know their own controls but you can't see them? You can't attach it to yourself to hide yourself either.

I could have sworn you could attach the Smoke Ball to yourself by either throwing it up and having it hit you on the way down or Z dropping it and fast falling into it, but apparently not. I must have been thinking of the Healing Sprout.

An aspect to the healing sprout I think you forgot to consider is it’s effectiveness in team matches. One person can sit and heal, while the other defends to keep the enemy out. And they can swap on the fly if necessary.

9:55 if you just z-throw the basic drill it's an insanely strong weapon - iirc around 25% per smash thrown hit, and kills super early. If you don't actually fire the projectile it won't despawn and you can recollect it after hitting your enemy to keep harassing them with it.

The unira is great as a shield, you can use it to start combos towards people rushing into you, you can combo opponents into it, you can throw opponents into it. If you play isa or villager you can pick it up and re throw it. You can use it to control space basically. You can use it to block ledge, and when fighting against it you can use it to trigger your counters. I just think it's neat.

13:32 screw attack is one of my favorite items since I main jigglypuff and it synergizes insanely with her. It does only work for puff's first two jumps, but since you're multihitting enemies inside your body you can just... drag them high and end the chain with rest. It's so powerful.

I wanted Smash to have the monitor from the Sonic series - It could either have Sonic’s shoe icon to double the player’s speed, a ring icon give the player a set of rings so they can tank a single hit, causing the rings to fly off them in exchange for not taking any damage, and an Eggman icon that would cause spikes to swarm and attack the player. There could also be a “?” monitor that does any of these at random.

i hate it when people underrate the home-run bat, its faster than most smash attacks, has some good disjointed range, and the instant reflect property is very powerful, especially against other items. it does all that and kills at 0%, unless youre on a massive stage in which case theres a sweetspot for that. (still does a ton of damage too) im glad you ranked it decently high in this video 👍

@@aydenator27 Home Run Bat FSmash is Frame 51. Fifty-One. That's a full ten frames slower than Snake's, which is the slowest FSmash in the game (well, technically. Dedede's is functionally slower since it takes a few frames after that for the Hammer to actually come down. Still faster than the Bat though). Seriously where are you getting these ideas from? I'm not saying the Bat is a bad item. Not even close. But the instakill Smash Attack is not the reason why, lol. But hey at least it's still faster than Falcon Punch.

16:59 gust bellows has one critical weakness you can exploit, which is that it's windboxes do not work if you shield. You can block them and then dodge roll around the person trying to push you, or try to outlast and force them to either intermittently use the bellows or waste a lot of its ammunition. It's powerful but you can work around it if you're careful and counter your opponent's choices with it wisely.

I love your videos! I used to play this game A LOT but eventually just got kinda sick with it. Then I started to explore more into the ‘casual’ side of things. I turned on items, spirits, and even tried a few amiibo! While I still don’t really play the game much, I definitely had fun messing around with these, especially since I main villager and can hold on to some items for a later time. The reversing mushroom, I forgot the name, only reverses controls once the mushroom gets big enough. Lip's stick deals more damage the bigger the flower is. They both get bigger the more you get hit by them.

Pokéball is my favorite smash item. I'm not too big on the smash ball, although it is quite fun for some characters. I also prefer it over the masterball because it's more random making legendaries be the highlight of the summons since they're rare out of the normal pokéballs.

19:47 I like the daybreak a lot more than dragoon actually, as on top of being far easier to land it actually functions as a held item and can be dropped in its complete form. I think villager could even pocket it. You can drop it at a ledge and hand it to a teammate in a team battle!

Unira is lowkey a fun item on low spawn item matches. They aren't too gamebreaking in damage/knockback, and they let the players control the stage for a short time. (The fact they can be disarmed, unlike the bumper is icing on the cake. That said, I don't like a lot of the super good items, they're overly distracting or they take too long to resolve. My fav is the Warp Star. It hits *hard*, and the attacker can speed up or slow down the comedown, but the defender can still avoid it pretty easily.

Odyssey please see this comment I am a huge fan and I have a video suggestion. I know you want Dry Bones in Smash (I agree) and I would like to see you make move predictions for him. I have seen other KZbinrs did this and with your vast knowledge of Smash I think you would do amazing. Also if you do Dry Bones Smash predictions then please do Legendary Godzilla Smash predictions (Legendary Godzilla is the one from Godzilla (2014), Godzilla: King of the Monsters (2019) and Godzilla vs Kong (2021).
