Watching this a month after it was posted. It's so fascinating to see how a couple of these guys that Paul was on the fence about (and rightly so) have, in just one month's time, totally changed the narrative. The best example is Mac Allister. When this was filmed, Paul was dead-on; we hadn't seen the footballer we bought because he was played in a different role. Now, though? Whew... TOTALLY different scenario. He is such a baller and he has shown everyone what he is capable of as a 10. Brilliant player.

Just a thought I've had about Jota lately, he might genuinely be an abslolutely genius footballer. Keita dead last in entire list While Ox is all the way up at 11 makes absolutely no sense... It's so bad that it's borderline a disqualifier altogether lol. If you want them both ranked lower, in the middle or higher, that's fine, but the gap between the two is completely inexcusable. Same position, same age in debut season, same problems with constant injuries. The money was not even that different, given Ox was 40 mil, they were on the same wages and both ended up leaving for free. If you want to bring up Ox's period before the first big injury, when his form was good + couple of big goals vs City, then you could easily do the same for Keita. During the first pandemic return to football, he was arguably Liverpool's best player in that period (An opinion Carragher also stated). He scored big goals in title races away at Newcastle and Soton along with memorable goals Vs Atletico, Palace, Chelsea and away at Old Trafford. He also averaged more appearances per season during his Liverpool tenure than Ox did. It's also not like we had loads of reports about him being a pogba-esque toxic Influence behind the scenes or anything, that impacted the club's performance. I'm fine with him being ranked below Ox, but the fact that one is up there amongst great names whilst the other is below the likes of Arthur Melo and Ben Davies is kinda disgusting tbh in terms of the level of disrespect lol. Davies was brought in out of panic, given 60k a week and literally never kicked a ball

Ox is up there because of English bias. Everybody somehow seem to like Ox and me too but he should be much lower rated on this list. Melo and Ben Davies are totally different. They were almost just brought in to try and sooth fans anger of lack of signings. Melo Arthur was just a loan move short time patch. Ben Davies was only signed for like 1 million pound or so because all of our center backs were out injured. We actually got a profit when we sold him out of the club.

The Keita/ Thiago conversation is the football equivalent to flirting vs harassment. Keita had 2 bad games in his Liverpool career. And they were both against Real Madrid. Big stages of course. The frustrating thing was his price tag and injury record. His actual performances in a Liverpool shirt, were amazing. Thinking back to whenever we played City or Chelsea and Klopp put him on Bernardo Silva and Kovacic and he shut them both out.Thiago is the exact same. Same injury record but he doesn’t get the criticism Keita does.

@@resolute7177 Thiago’s one good season was the quad run. He got injured through out last season and in his first season he was injured for 3 months and a bit unlucky that Fabinho got injured that season but he wasn’t good in his first season. @@resolute7177 Fabinho and Curtis Jones were our best midfielders in Thiago’s first year. In the quad he was arguably the best midfielder. Last year Bajcetic and Curtis Jones were our best midfielders. Keita did get injured a lot but in the quad season he was actually fit and I thought Keita was in our best 11, in that year. Both him and Thiago in the FA Cup games played the best football and most creative football I’ve seen in a Jurgen Klopp midfield. My point is that Thiago gets injured as much as Keita does. But why the hate for one and not the other.

Knew only a little bit before he arrived but every game he got better and after getting a run of starts he proved to be one of our most valuable players. When considering what we paid and the fact we dodged the bullet that was Caicedo, this signing was a brilliant move.

From the top 15, the players I really like are/were Elliott, Thiago, Diaz & Jota Elliott has a very bright future. A diamond, though younger than Grav, is already less in the rough than him. Thiago is absolutely elegant whenever he has time and fitness to play. One of the most exciting players to feast our eyes on but so unfortunate with injuries. Diaz was probably the most exciting January signing (apart from Suarez) who did wonders in his first 6 months at the club where we won several trophies and he was a great piece of the puzzle to help us get over the line. After those first 6 months, he’s been less exciting to watch. Much like Mané, he became less flashy and more efficient in his dribbling but he couldn’t be as prolific in front of goal as Mané. Many things have happened to him until now (season-long injury, dad’s kidnapping, etc.) but hoping everything goes well for him again. Undoubtedly an extremely hardworker but needs to score more as he was signed as an eventual replacement for Mané. Jota is our best finisher, no doubt. A very, very good striker of the ball though is capable of ghosting out of games when he’s being given more responsibility with the ball or not given service. He’s not a talismanic forward, he’s more of a kind of purple-patch forward. Lucky to have him as one of our forward options.

I feel like I watched a different Thiago career than everyone else. Obviously the injuries this year and last have been insanely frustrating but in his first season year he was absolutely crucial in champions league qualification and I would argue in the domestic double season he was out most important player. When he was out of the team played dramatically worse. I know the best ability is availability but I still feel he made great contributions to the club despite his injuries.

Don’t get me wrong, love Paul and the stuff he does but he gets the Keita stuff completely wrong for me. Keita was great when he played for Liverpool bar a few absolute howlers, and to say Liverpool then signed Thiago to replace/show him what he should be doing isn’t true. They’re completely different players. When Keita played which was very rarely he done the stuff he should do and done it very well at times. The reason he’s a flop is because he simply couldn’t stay fit. I believe if he produced the exact same stuff just more consistently we wouldn’t be having the same conversation. He has performed more often then not when called upon, ultimately his injuries cost him a good Liverpool career not his quality or lack there of.
