Varlamore will be my first pick. I agree that for first region it has alot of good starting material. Second I'm going with desert. My plan is to get a try brid set up going from moons. Than hit toa. Not 100% sure on my 3rd yet. Really depends on the combat masteries and what combat style I end up going for. Super stoked on it tho I followed all your guides last time and I had a blast. 💯

I feel like, if they combined Kandarin and Tirannwn to be one Western Provinces region, they might be more worthwhile. The problem would be balancing the available League points. There’s just so little to do in each region.

Personally, my one regret last leagues was choosing Desert. Everything's great on paper, lots of minigames, good gear, all that, but so much of the content was a huge grind even in Leagues. Mage Arena and Kalphite Queen are obvious ones, squirkin' was dead after the first week, but then finding out that both GotR and Tempoross didn't benefit from the minigame point multiplier hurt. So many activities there were such a time sink. And I know you can just not do it, but that's a huge chunk of the region's points. My strategy this time is going to be choosing the most enjoyable content, drops be darned.

I feel this. I picked Desert and honestly didnt like it much. Giants Foundry was boring, squirking was dead, I dislike ToA (especially with last Leagues punishing you for playing with friends), and Temp/GoTR didnt benefit much from Leagues relics like you said. I loved my picks on Kandarin and Wildy, though.

I always stand by having an easy region, such as Wildy. If you're already stuck grinding hours and hours in Raids or GWD, getting a ton of free points, tasks, supplies and raw GP lets me focus on the rest of the game (particularly if doing something like Asgarnia+Raid, where you basically get a full set of gear anyway!). In terms of 'BiS' (let's be real, the minor gear upgrades you get from one region isn't needed when you have insane Leagues buffs), and fun, it's nothing crazy. But for going for Dragon cup - such high value!

Melee believer here, but I actually think Varlamore actually offers a pretty interesting route. Going Varlamore lets you skip Asgarnia because Blood Moon is basically just as good as Bandos and you won't need a defender if you go Dual Boppers/Sulphur Blades -> Soul Reaper Axe. Vard also gives you Ultor if you grab Frem, which is already appealing to me for getting a max house. From there you can just grab a raid region, which for me is prolly just Mory again, but I think the routing will make it a lot more interesting this go around compared to last Leagues

Totally agree that V beats out A for melee builds. Assuming V and M, Kandarin could actually be a solid pick for pure DPS with piety and rancour, but yeah Fremmy would probably be way more fun for a melee build and ultor is super nice. Currently I'm planning on V and M. Will prob use my 3rd option on whatever region has the best melee echo boss.

Varlamore is mid gear. You still want Asg for Torva. Varlamore has enough utility to justify picking both. You also can't get a defender or boots without Asg, both of which give more str boost than ultor. VAM is too strong for a melee build for me to consider any other regions, unless I replace M with D, but I think getting a slayer helmet would be awesome, and the rapier is plenty good enough for a 1h.

@@austincavalier1760 where would you use defender? All the good melee weps (dual macs, nox hally, SRA, and scy) are 2h. Torva is nice, but can be replaced by inq. Plus Aranea boots are only 1 str less than prims. I could see VAM being a good build, but I think A could be swapped out for whatever region has bis melee echo item.

@ I don’t doubt Asgarnia is prolly the more optimal route, I was more theory crafting fun alternatives. You don’t care about getting a defender if you go boppers -> SRA and the damage in this mode is already so nuts that I’m not losing sleep over the strength bonus on boots. Especially since Ultor is more strength than Prims + Torva (4 strength difference compared to Blood Moon) Definitely going to need to see more info on relics and echo bosses before committing to anything, but I think it has potential to be pretty strong

A necklace that adds an extra ability to each of the sets (Like the Amulet of the Damned for Barrows) for Varlamore would probably be pretty good. Sorta to enhance the gear to work more into the end game.

As someone that doesn't engage with high end PVM except for ToA, I'd put Mory in last place. There are sooo many tasks related to that, and in my opinion if you are not great at the game, half of those are just impossible; and if you are capable of doing it, it just becomes an RNG fiesta. Getting ToB, Nightmare and Araxxor uniques is just going to take too long. I got Dragon Cup last season by picking Fremy and Kandarin, it was super chill. These season I might go for Wilderness-Varlamore-Fremy, it gives me a little bit more action than just doing the boring Kandarin bosses. Also Wildy does not deserve to be that low, early game you get the pool in Ferox, a great way to train prayer with chaos altar and if you get one statue from Revs your money problems are just gone.

A good chunk of players choose a region to explore its hard content for the first time, whether that be a raid or...risk free wildy content! That raises Morytania and Wildy a lot for me personally.

Personally my list is: Desert Zeah Morytania Fremmenik Kandarin Asgarnia Tiranwnn Varlamore Wilderness My reasoning: - Raid regions in the top 3 because they each drop all 3 mega rares. Zeah and Desert could possibly be switched, but both have better skilling than Mory. - Frem offers good gear for all 3 styles. - Kand also has good stuff for all 3 styles, but to a lesser extent than Frem. Also a great early region, but does lack pvm content. - Asg is great for melee, and is good for range (depending on masteries), but terrible for magic. - Tir is great for range and okay for mage, but annoying to do with melee. - Var will be pretty miserable without melee. Also offers very little gear for mage/range. Gem shop with rubies is massive for early game though. - I don’t know how to evaluate Wildy, because it’s the only region that becomes significantly worse depending on how popular it is.

A neat thing to note is that since all 3 megarares are available in each raid, that means having at least one raid region is more important, but having another raid region is de-emphasized. I personally enjoy ToA more than CoX in leagues, but the regular uniques like CoX prayer scrolls, Elder Maul, and BIS magic outweigh Fang and BIS Range set imo, especially if the echo drops are weapons and not armor/prayer scrolls. I don't really think any of the regular ToB purples stand out either, but if you can stomach/enjoy chambers then Zeah would be the top raid region.

My echo theory (that maybe someone thought of): What if the echo drops are all armor pieces, and they can transform into any piece of that equipment? So say the echo boss in Fremmy drops Echo Gloves, then Fremmy would have Zaryte Vambraces + Ferocious Gloves + Tormented Bracelet This might be super hard to balance, and even impossible to code/implement. But could explain the “echo” name. Also would mix up region picking in a fun way. Here’s my region to gear slot guess: (Giving raids the main armors, think they might be worst?) M - Head Z - Body D - Legs W - Neck T - Cape F - Gloves V - Shield K - Feet A - Ring Starter regions none? Maybe have a spellbook item that gives access to all spellbooks? Just a fun idea!

If you are a player who isn't able to dedicate a ton of time to leagues this year, but does want to specialize into melee, I feel like Varlamore is going to be a perfect first region to pick. It's designed around having a diverse number of low/mid lvl skilling content, the pots in the perilous moons makes for amazing early afk combat xp, the hunter crossbow makes for a good support weapon wherever you do need to hybrid, and the bloodmoon armour is basically bandos armour you can get when you're lvl 50 combats, while also being very fast to acquire. Last league I learned it's very important to have a reliable, easy to get setup for your primary combat style, since depending on a raid megarare can mean you go the majority of the league without your full potential, simple because you get unlucky.

Way I see it, Kandarin has something going for it with Melee and Mage but not really Ranged (just Anguish, compared to Occult/Torm/Trident and Piety/Torture), and Tirannwn is basically entirely 'Ranged or bust', so with the addition of Varlamore (stretching our region choices even harder), I think it'd make sense to combine Tirannwn and Kandarin into one region. Doing so would also allow them to make a better spread of high-point-value tasks within the new region's boundaries (it's a very big area landmass wise), instead of forcing everyone to do 2k laps of Ape Atoll course

My end goal was a dfh, lance, prims, and bandos (maybe nex if I could find decent luck) and it was honestly pretty fun. Definitely didn't want to do points stacking, just click and hit big numbers.

In defense of Tirannwn, at least in Leagues 4 it was the best place to train smithing and crafting if you had trickster. All you needed was at least 1 crystal armor seed, and then you got so many enhanced teleport seeds feim passive thieving you can trade them in for crystals and use them to make and dismantle crystal armor for massive xp.

When will they be releasing teasers? We're less than a month before it begins, and not so much as a peep has been heard since it's announcement... As for regions, Desert is MUCH worse for me than rated, as it's only appeals are Ancients and TOA, and is slightly better than Kandarin. Mory I didn't like in leagues 2, but I would consider it now for leagues 5 for melee. Asgarnia was a very fun area, and I think that'd still be true with Nex. Wildy though, was my most beloved region of all. Not only was money sorted out, you also could fool around with silly pvp battles in the Wildy for no risk. It has to be top 3 minimum for me. I have not taken Zeah as a region yet, so it's a possibility this time. Something I also consider as well is the potential for mini games and diversions to use your OP relics you worked hard to get.

I'm kinda thinking about a VKZ run? I went KA_ the first two times, Fremmy in L2 and Zeah in L4. But Varlamore as a starter is just busted, and then Kandarin has so many nice QOL and supporting stuff (zenytes, occult, Trident, etc) then of course you want a raid, and Zeah has SO much to it. I'm also considering ZKD...but two raids would be a lot to deal with. And woe be unto anyone taking MZD lol

I assumed the Wildly Echo reward was going to be similar to your prediction as well because of the Sigil of revoked limitation from the last dmm, but in the league's Discord, someone suggested the idea to Arcane, and he said, "Unironically cool idea." Considering the league is already feature-complete, I think we can assume that means we are getting something else. Thinking about it, though, a reward like that would be really lopsided balance-wise. The webweaver is terrible with attack-speed relics ( unless they allow it to round down this time). The Accursed sceptre would be pretty good due to it being behind the shadow in DPS, but would still be high enough to fit a really good progression point that mage lacks currently. The chain mace would crowd out the scythe too much IMO. It can stab unlike the scythe and would out dps the scythe on crush. I think the scythe really needs to be noticeably stronger than its competition due to it already being weak against smaller targets (really relevant for Nex). Jagex wants these rewards to be comparable to bis, but still give you a reason to obtain the raid weapons. Any rewards relating to all 3 rev weapons would be difficult to not make too good or bad.

My credentials/experience; Leagues 2: Trailblazers (Kand > Tiran > Fremm | Ranged) #1 Zulrah, #2 Vorkath 1-tick bp with draining strikes was absolutely insane. Avg 30sec snek and 45sec vork kills. DKS tasks are sooo slow because of their slow respawn time. Bowfa didn't exist yet, salad blade dropped itself. Overall I quite liked this pick for ranged route. I actually really like how zalcano just prints resources. Leagues 4: Trailblazers Reloaded (Fremm > Desert > Asgar | Ranged) #1 Muspah, #2 Kree, Greenlogged Nex and all TOA uniques minus pet Fremm 1st region pick with Fire Sale to 50mil cons first couple of days + stonemason (leagues 5 preferably Var now) DKS again very slow respawn time was soooo slowwwwww I slept on Muspah until I basically reached dragon rank. It's drops are insanely useful, have a bit of regret not farming it a lot earlier. Am the type of person that doesn't mind trying to get all uniques for all gwd bosses + nex. Achieved full virtus and soulreaper axe. 2t xbows were fun, especially with zcb. Went with soul stealer effect (again) Executioner's Axe was fun, still kinda miss it. Overall I really liked my regions picked for leagues 4. I chose Fire Sale instead of Banker's Note cause at the time I believed that I didn't have that much time to play osrs. Currently for leagues 5 I'm actually disappointed that it's another region-lock leagues. So my mindset is currently solely for pet hunting. So I'm for either; Var>Des/Wild OR Var>Zeah/Wild Never really done cox main game, and at least some toa experience, so mainly thinking desert again.

I knew I was going Morytania, as I decided to do a melee build and new boss and nightmare sound great. I figured I was going Varlamore because blood set sounds too fun. But yall got me questioning Asgarnia. If I have blood armour and inquisators, why would I care about god armour that much? Wondering what else I might pick. Piety sounds nice but thats the ONLY benefit for that region for melee build that I know of. VAM was my choice before the video but yall give great points

Next time you do this list could you rank things by: skillings(total, early, mid, & late), points, gear, total content, and overall. Because these lists are great but at times they miss important parts of the journey when you only look from the end game list. Even from things that might or might not make the region better/worse like Varlamore having the stone mason which means you get better pools & altars in your POH making prayer even easier in that region.

My personal list looks like this: 1. Zeah 2. Morytania 3. Desert 4. Fremmenik 5. Asgarnia 6. Varlamore 7. Wildy 8. Tirannwn 9. Kandarin Zeah - good throughout all stages (early-late) with maybe only being a bit boring midgame, but that's why we have 2nd region. Mory rivals Asg and Varla with inquis armor, provides sustain choice with blood fury, TOB/NM was fully doable as mage last Leagues too, definitely a late pick. Desert would go lower but since it has 3 megarares it stays up here. ToA needs all 3 styles (P2/Akkha) and I dont enjoy the skilling minigames grind. Frem is amazing since they announced DT2 boss availability - it doesn't shine on its own but is probably the best support region this Leagues and has upgrades for every style (Magus/Heart | Faceguard/DFS/Fero gloves(with Z)/ultor(with V) | Assembler/Dragonfire Ward/Venator Bow) Asgarnia shines over Varlamore only due to the BIS and lategame options it provides, the content can be a bit dry. It favors the least from DT2 availability since it mostly appeals to Melee/Range. Varlamore is fantastic early game, but as you said it will fall over later. The other concern is how populated the areas will be, which might invalidate certain activities unless fixed (Hunter Rumours and overcrowded spots, Naguas afk training, Moons overfilled, hard to get small Huey groups) Wilderness goes 7th because it's a supply printer as well as offering a risk free experience. All the bosses, agility course, zombie pirates, revs just print supplies. The gear rewards might not be great outside wildy though. Tirannwn has this appeal to me because I love Zulrah and I somewhat enjoy CG and the unlocks are also solid. It does sound pretty miserable to do as a melee but Halberd is really desirable. Kandarin just feels like the worst support region because it really only supports 2 styles and doesn't offer much outside of that - you pick it for an occult/torm or tort/piety and then you're locked to doing BA/monkey laps/hunting Kraken/Thermy tasks.

the ranged melee weapon already exists (atlatl darts/thrower) which could help bridge the gap a little bit, it doesn't fully scale with melee gear and wouldn't be affected by melee relics most likely but it can help

I feel like a region that falls off later is fairly desirable, I don't see it as a negative at all. I personally don't want 3 regions that are super full of grinds that are gonna make me feel miserable, especially if I go dry in multiple places like last Leagues. If you're picking, say, Asgarnia and a raid region, which I think is gonna be fairly common, having a 3rd region that you're just not gonna have to worry about all that much 2, 3, 4 weeks in sounds pretty appealing. For a while I've been thinking I'll go melee M/A/W, but I'm really coming around to dropping Asgarnia and probably also Wildy for something like Varlamore and either Fremmy or Zeah (currently leaning more towards Zeah cause I like the content more but it is a second raids region which could be a bit too much stuff to do for me). I just don't wanna do GWD again ;w; If they do something like, idk, making the rev weapons more relevant outside of the Wildy (maybe through an upgrade material from the echo boss?) it'd still be way up there for me though

They probably don't do it this year but I really hope they consider opening up Echoes to Quest bosses. There is so much potential for cool fights with remade quest bosses. Echo boss in Tirannwyn 100% going to be Zalcano. I'd love some kind of funny Pickaxe/Weapon Hybrid that works as a tool but also is a solid DPS option with an "Armour Mining" effect that slightly lower's enemy defence with any attack. Kandarin could be a few things but MAYBE a super leftwing opinion and have it be Galvek? Kandarin gives you the Myths guild where you refight Galvek for the combat achieve would be a super unique spot for it.

Echo demonics could be a harder version of the assist bomb from tormented demons. There are so many more demonics -- imagine 15 of them throwing bombs at you, requiring you to almost play the CG disco floor. Echo Amoxliatl could have an amulet that raises the tier of your perilous moons set. What that region is missing is endgame gear, so having jewelry to boost stats of your midgame gear would be huge. I'm thinking an amulet of the damned type of item that converts completed moon sets into tier 80 or 85 sets when a full set is equipped. The araxxor/araxxi reward should be an anti-reflect item, like a malevolent (to use the rs3 term) defender or kiteshield, which will make solo nylo totally viable. I do think barrows will be the echo, though, and they might even go the rise of the 6 route where you fight all 6 at once

It would be cool if they use this echo opportunity to test things. Like for the DK/KBD.. add a switch to the area before that you can hit to make it a harder boss with new mechanics. This could make this old content new in the main game

last league, i picked the 3 raid regions. i feel like they're the best, but i also don't wanna do the exact same thing again... i really wish other regions got more stuff. maybe they'll reveal some insane thing in the elf forest maze and I'll consider it lol

A huge thing for Varlamore for me is the stonecutter, gem store and afkable prayer/mining as well. But I think the potion packs from Mixology might be very busted as well

But here's an idea to perhaps balance a bit better, since Kandarin and Tirannwn are pretty garbage-tier nowadays: literally just combine them into one region like they're supposed to be. Region splits being unsupported by diaries has always felt awkward AF (you need both to do western provinces) People keep asking for a 4th region since they made desert actually a legitimate choice with last league... and Varlamore existing now is literally an entire extra region. But being permastuck at only 3 picks every league is this weird hill that jamflex feels like dying on for some reason, so... this is a perfect compromise that just makes too much sense. Combine Kandarin and Elftown.

Which other inside info do you have more?? You were too confident saying that amulet of rancour was in Mory. But you technically need zenyte shards, and i assume you would know this. Meaning you knew yesterday's release beforehand! Would love to hear more inside info (last recall for example) or what is gonna happen with kandarin that youve been paying "no" attention too..

@1:05:30 i chose the exploding relic+ chosing my own slayer task and it was insane, i would chose smoke devils over and over and kill like 9 of them at a time, i got 20m xp in all melee stats and slayer so quickly.

I went Tirannwn last year entirely cause I wanted to try Zulrah and CG since I haven't gotten there in the main game. It was fun, but definitely felt empty and impossible to complete the diary which was defintely frustrating and left points on the table

Another thing about Tirranwn: You pick it for CG and Zulrah. But you need kandarin to get any use out of the magic fang drop, desert to use your blowpipe consistently. Serp is good but maintaining charges for it can be a pain. So yeah fix Zulrah.

I think there is a real chance of the wilderness echo being near bis boots that are just full of dirt from the wilderness so you're always technically walking in the wilderness making the weapons work

loved the video so far but wanted to mention that whisperer is a no go for mage in asgarnia. The boss has set intervals for its specials you have to do which slowed kills down heavily, a bout 1min per. Leviathan which came with lumby could be killed in 10-20 secs based on magic weapon, so no point in doing whisperer.

I went melee with Asgarnia, Morytania, and Desert last Leagues and the idea of redoing any of them is super unappealing. Completing all Barrows sets was a particularly grueling task even with Last Recall and Globetrotter, and that alone puts me off going back to Morytania. Perilous Moons at least has dupe protection in its favor. Currently leaning heavily towards Varlamore and Fremennik, and would be happy with either melee or ranged. Undecided on the 3rd until we get more info on Echo bosses and combat mastery. If Ruinous Powers return as an option again that alleviates the need for Kourend/Kandarin for prayers.

Tirannwn echo boss should be the rabbit. Zulrah and Gauntlet are already great bossed, and from the KQ and DK example it looks like they're focusing on the more simple bosses.

Definitely would put Morytania 5th. All good points brought up, really a melee region, you can get mega rares from the other raids, perilous moons gear subs for barrows, while there is a lot of content but people need to think of how fun it is. Nightmare and grotesque guardians are not it.

Varlamore is crazy strong, to the point where I don't think Zeah deserves a top 3 spot, even with cox included. There's a lot that comes out of Zeah, but between mory's importance for melee, and deserts all around benefits on top of an easy raid, i think zeah is closer to a 5 spot, as the only real big thing to come out of it is ancestral, which can be subbed out for virtus. Varlamore has so much utility, as well as great mid gear that can easily carry you though any content. My personal list is Asg, Desert, Mory, Varlamore, Zeah, Kandarin, Frem, Wildy, Tir. I can't give the #1 spot to a raid region, as raids after asgarnia are really for just optimizing. Especially as melee. You really only raid as a melee purely for the weapon. Everything else comes from Asg.
