To be honest, Mario Kart 7's mushroom cup is pretty strong. Playing through the game, I was surprised with just how obscenely good the level design is! And this is coming from a guy who grew up with Mario Kart Wii - a game praised for its amazingly awesome level design! I wouldn't say that 7 has the best mushroom cup, but it sits well in the middle, while Wii's mushroom cup is tied with 8's for me.

Super Circuit and 7 are the only 2 Mario Kart games I have not played at all. The 2nd and last track in the cup look pretty interesting albeit I’ve never played them outside of Tour. Which is ur favourite mushroom cup?

I replayed all of 7 recently and I always assumed the Mushroom cup was extremely forgettable, but Daisy Hills and SHy Guy Bazaar pleasently surprised me and Cheep Cheep Cape isn't half bad either, I think the issue with it isn't quality, just memorability. (Despite it not being my favourite MK game I feel 7 still has the strongest track selection)

Yeah, the DS version of Baby Park just feels like a middle child In DD it had specials getting thrown around 24/7, in MK8 there's 12 racers crammed into such a small playfield that _you are never EVER safe_ and it's still 7 laps, but in DS it just... exists It still can get quite chaotic in 5 laps with 8 people but it lacks the amount of sheer chaos of DD's specials or 8's green shell bullet hell

Banger video mate, you went hard with the edits, I especially loved the transitions in sync with the music. You’ve proper slandered Daisy Hills, it’s both Dutch inspired with windmills etc AND it’s a Daisy track, so that and Shy Guy Bazaar carries MK7 a bit higher, but on the whole this is probably about right. Then again, can I really trust someone with Tour as his third favourite Mario Kart game… perhaps we’ll subscribe after the *next* Top 8

Mk 7 has some of my favorite nitro tracks. And 7 is my second favorite game. Personaly I love daisy hills. And shy guy Bazar. But put them both in a cup with 2 boring tracks (still good) and you got a pretty lame cup. Would have put one rank higher tho. (EDIT : 2 rank higher because I would have put ds one 7 th.)

I'm not offended by people who say Daisy Hills is boring; they definitely have a point. But I have to admit I have this weird intrigue with the track. The way it has you climb a big hill to then have you make a big glide jump into the town is really simple, and something that Rock Rock Mountain does way better, but the calming atmosphere and the straightforward execution just kinda works for me. It might also have to do with how the setting reminds me of Bianco Hills.

I agree with Mario Kart Wii being first place. It was the first game I played, and a good one at that, with some of my favorite tracks. I was happy Moo Moo Meadows came back in 8, cause I believe that was my all time favorite map, but I was sad Toad Factory, Luigi Circuit, and Mushroom Grotto didn’t get remakes in the initial 8 release (Mushroom Grotto is in Tour though and that’s good enough)

to be honest, one thing I never see people talking about in baby park remakes is the fact that the middle section blocks items like shells from being thrown over it. In the original, your green shells and bowser shells were even more of a menace because they would bounce across into the other lane as well, but the later editions have it more toned back, which I find really unfortunate, and its not like the antigravity makes any noticeable difference

Hi there! I can’t speak for 8, but I can definitely speak for the first 7 Mushroom Cups, so here’s what I would say about each. Super Mario Kart definitely deserves last here which isn’t a surprise since the first game was easily the weakest entry in the series. That said, I do like the idea of a Bowser’s Castle in a Mushroom Cup for earlier games because the Mario franchise itself was still developing when the first game came out. In 64, it was definitely a great cup, but that might just be my nostalgia talking. It was the first Mushroom Cup I had ever played (yep, even over SNES). I will make a disagreement and state that I prefer Moo Moo Farms over Moo Moo Meadows. Both pull off the farm theme quite well, but the gophers I think really make the course stand out over its opponent on the Wii. Everything else you mentioned though? Spot on! In Super Circuit, I think it’s a great place to go if nostalgia really wants to make its voice heard. There’s a charm to Peach Circuit (?) that makes a standard circuit track really fun to come back to. Also, Super Circuit had some really cool and insanely funny photos to sell their tracks throughout all their Cups. Double Dash had a subtly chaotic first track because of the road in the middle where you can throw items at racers going the opposite direction from you. You could have shells and fireballs hitting you straight in the face and still have a good time with it. The DS version would have taken the second-to-last spot for me. Cheep Cheep Lagoon or whatever that third track was just doesn’t do enough to save this Cup from others I would rank ahead of it. In fact, I would even go so far as to say that Luigi’s Mansion was the only good track in the DS Mushroom Cup. Also, I do get what Figure 8 was trying to go for here, but this is definitely a case of being in entirely the wrong game for this type of thing. If this track came out in Mario Kart 7 or 8, I imagine it would have been 10 times better since it could have done with some underwater mechanics or as a kind of morbius anti-gravity track. Maybe an entirely anti-gravity track that includes an underwater segment within the course. As it is on the DS though? Just a No for me. On the Wii, though I did prefer N64’s Moo Moo Farms, Moo Moo Meadows itself is not a bad track at all and I can get picking this as your preferred Moo Moo track. The Luigi Circuit isn’t a stand-out, but the warp pipe shortcut really does give it some leg to on. Mushroom Gorge is great because bouncing on the mushrooms? SO FUN!!!!!!! Toad’s Factory is pretty cool and definitely a different Mushroom Cup course to be sure. Just like how I think DS got too high a ranking here, this Mushroom Cup got too hard in MK7. Toad Circuit doesn’t try to do too much, but what I do like about it is that it eases the player into the gliding mechanic without being too hard on you if you don’t get it right right away. The introduction to the underwater mechanic two tracks later is a nice evolution of the franchise as a whole as well. I do agree though that the standout on this Mushroom Cup is definitely Shy Guy Bazaar. That track is absolute bananas to anyone playing it and has a lot going for it.

My ranking: 8: Super Mario Kart 7: Mario Kart 64 (Koopa Troopa Beach is pretty solid, but the other tracks are very okay) 6: Mario Kart DS (The last two tracks are good, but it's let down by Figure 8 Circuit being one of the worst tracks of the entire series) 5: Mario Kart Super Circuit (It's consistently okay. I'm particularly a fan of Riverside Park.) 4: Mario Kart Double Dash (Consistently descent. I've never played DD, so I might like Baby Park if I actually played it but idk) 3: Mario Kart 7 (I love Shy Guy Bazaar. The other 3 aren't crazy, but they aren't bad) 2: Mario Kart 8 (Consistently good. Nothing special, but nothing bad.) 1: Mario Kart Wii (Contains Toad Factory, which is in my top 5 favorite MK Tracks of all time. Mushroom Gorge is great, and the other two aren't that bad. This cup is so much better than every other mushroom cup.)
