Mario Golf World Tour is how you do post launch support for a Mario sports game: packing the base game with a ton of content and fleshing it out with paid DLC later on, all for a cheap price. A shame it was so overlooked when it came out back in 2014.

Definitely one of my most played games on the 3DS (if I am remembering correctly.) I do wish it was on a console rather than handheld but it was still really solid

Eh I kinda dissagree because while most don't seen to remember, the DLC was actually released during the first month of the game, so it was actually cut content of the base game and sold separately.

for mario golf 64, that shot didn’t go in the “right spot” because you missed the accuracy a few notches to the side (the second a press). It was also short because you’re in the rough and the indicator doesn’t account for that. Makes it more fun imo than the game just telling you where to hit it, you have to kind of figure it out for yourself

With how hated the Switch Mario Sports games are, was half expecting them to fill out the bottom placements lol. Glad someone actually gave em a fair analysis and comparison to the others. Especially with Tennis Aces, as that game has some of the most addicting Mario sports gameplay. It just suffers from the same issues as the others. The backlash to those games is warrented in a lot of areas FOR SURE, but a bit overblown. Though I wouldn't put Tennis Aces AS high as it is here maybe. But yeah, hoping the Sports games can eventually make a comeback to being consistently decent and not so controversial. If Square's Mario RPG can come back from the dead, anything is possible...

9:16 Sorry, but I absolutely do not agree with your statement there. It may not be the worst Nintendo game ever but it's still not a good game. You have to remember, people had to wait 15 years for a new Strikers game, and it was, and still is barring the odd discount, $60, full price. There's fun to be had to be sure, but certainly not $60 worth of fun, especially when the game feels more like a tech demo than a complete game with how little content and variety it has even after the updates...

strikers charger is easily my favorite. mechanics are so deep and rich, the only other nintendo game i’d say has more complex mechanics overall than this game is melee which is saying a lot.

Mario Sports Mix and Mario Super Sluggers are the most nostalgic for me, and are probably my favorites overall, I was happy to see Sluggers rank first- it deserved it! I have always LOVED the story mode in Sluggers and the roster is so amazing! I understand a lot of people don't like Sports Mix, but it will always be one of my favorites regardless, but my nostalgia might be blinding me lol

In mario sticker. The ball change mechanic being gone in the last installment is not so bad. Because it has been replaced with new mechanics. And there is less stupid stuff like super shot goaling 7 points and being free. So it's more complex. But yeah. Everything else. Less characters, with less personality, Samey musics, less animations, no more personal item and dodges, terrains don't have effects. Etc etc. At least the gears are really fun to mess around with.

An extra thing to mentioned about Mario Strikers Battle League is that the gameplay enhances so much more the more time you put into the game, as there is a super high skill ceiling. Especially when you verse top competition, the moves you and your opponent are doing is ridicules and super fun!

Mario 3 on 3 hoops, super sluggers and strikers charged are the best!!! But the best part is that Rosalina wasn’t annoyingly shoved into every damn spin off game. White mage > Rosalina. This holy Trinty are my favorite spin off games. I still play them to this day and I’m still highly addicted to super sluggers. The sound track, character selection and charm of these games are really amazing and will always hold a special place in my heart

Man MP9 got so much hate (similar to how much hate the Wii U got even though it had some of the best minigames. And the Wii U had some of the better Nintendo games and backwards compatibility. I will die on the hill that the Wii U was a better console than the switch.) I would put it just below sports mix but I would also move sports mix up a bit

It's such a shame that you can't play Mario Slugers in Europe, many people don't even know the game The game wasn't released in Europe because there aren't that many baseball fans there but more soccer fans and I also like soccer but also baseball and the game looks so good so many characters and game modes and the gameplay looks fantastic too, it's a shame 😭

15:34 Do you know how chaotic it would be if more than one ball is on the field at a time? Let alone controlling multiple balls as the one player? That's not really a good reason to dislike the mode. The mode that does have issues is Volleyball, but only on 3v3 as the court is way too small for 3v3s and as a result its hard to score.

I think the super shots are fun to use and add a great amount of strategy to every match. It doesn’t really bother me that the cutscenes stop the action for a bit. I’m keeping them on for sure.

Mario sports games peaked at the NGC era, all of them are fantastic and are the superior titles of their respective series. My top 10 would be: 1 - Super Mario Strikers (also my favorite game ever) 2 - Mario Power Tennis 3 - Mario Superstar Baseball 4 - Mario Golf: Toadstool Tour 5 - Mario Hoops 3 on 3 6 - Mario Power Tennis (GBA) 7 - Mario Golf: Advance Tour 8 - Mario Sports Mix 9 - Mario Strikers Battle League 10 - Mario Strikers Charged Also, i just want to add an opinion that might be considered a hot take, but it's okay, i just want to say that all the Mario Sports games on Switch are pretty good, but all were killed early by Nintendo and their decision to launch them early and then fill them with free updates. I assure you that if all the games were re-launched and with all the content that they got after updates, their sales would have been way much better

Why is Charged in 10th and strikers in 1st? From my perspective Charged is Strikers but better in everyway. Same goes for Battle League, how is it better than Charged?

@@cassettecobra3848 Battle League felt like a bit better than Charged in terms of gameplay, balance, the Hyper Strike may not be as busted as the Mega Strike, but the Mega Strike felt like a bit excessive, though i wanted something simple like the first game, i appreciate Battle League allows you to "customize" your stats through armory, the fact you can now have more or less your desired characters in your team instead of a captain and sidekicks/minor characters, was a huge thing for me. The game still gets the frantic action that the previous games had. The only bad thing i could say about Battle League compared to others, and this is just a silly opinion, a thought, is that the aggression, the "edginess" got toned down A LOT. It's way too tamed. And to answer your question about the huge gap between Strikers and Charged, it's easy, IMO Mario Sports games peaked at the GC and GBA era, all of them were wonderful, super fun, and yeah, Charged may be Strikers but better, but i didn't find it as fun as the first one, there's this nostalgia factor as well, the first Mario Strikers is not only my favorite Mario game ever, but also my absolute favorite game of all time, it's easy to play, understand, and loved how super aggresive and totally not family-friendly was, because it was so un-Mario-y

Pretty good list. Baseball above soccer is unpopular but I agree. Only thing I'd change is moving the Gamecube baseball game to #1. I think its base gameplay is just better. I was really not a fan of close plays and homerun robberies, homeruns are already incredibly tough when playing against great opponents. The chemistry system felt genius

to defend mario sports superstars. Horse back racing is just mario kart but worse. (will edit as we go with any differing opinions.) haha I feel called out. Mario tennis open was my jam ngl. I think the reason why I liked it so much was because the ai was actually challenging. Super rush 100% needs multiplayer to be enjoyable. But I do get that it has GLARING problems. I personally didn't get it. Battle League had a GLARING strategy that gave you a guaranteed goal. I am not even sure if it got patched. Not to mention my main problem needing to pay a subscription for online Forgot mario tennis on the n64 was the introduction of the WAH. Mario Sports Mix was one of my childhood games. But I honestly enjoyed volleyball and dodgeball. While I did like hockey I found it waaaay too easy against ai. Also unlocking the characters were really challenging which I enjoyed. Gameboy color mario golf is not a mario sports game based on your rules imo. Same with the next game on the list. Same as the next one. annnnnd the last one. Never played mario hoops 3 on 3 but I've seen it and I prefer sports mix. Also I am a peach ice garden lover and a bj playroom hater.

These are the Mario Sports games I have experience with: Mario Power Tennis Mario Tennis Ultra Smash Mario Tennis Aces Mario Superstar Baseball Mario Super Sluggers Mario Golf Super Rush Mario Sports Superstars My best Mario tennis game is Mario Tennis Aces. My best Mario baseball game is Mario Super Sluggers, I liked its Challenge Mode more than Superstar Baseball's. Mario Golf Super Rush is the only Mario golf game I played. I had fun playing Ultra Smash, Super Rush, and Sports Superstars which you were trash talking about. I never gave those games bad reviews when I played them because I'm not a critic. Critics are stupid.

Sorry but on battle legaue gameplay can only go so far. When i can get everything out of the game in 1 hour the gameplay no matter how fun it is can not make up for the lack lf content. Hating the finish it later approach.

I used to actually own a copy of Ultra Smash. Sure, it wasn't filled to the brim with content, but I had a blast playing it. In my opinion, it's definitely better than Aces & Virtual Boy Mario Tennis, that's for sure (I know Aces has a lot of content and good gameplay, but it's definitely not the best Mario Tennis game by far: UI is worse than in Ultra Smash, said gameplay relies heavily on Adventure Mode if you want to unlock every stage, it punishes you for withstanding Power Shots, and Nintendo hid all the good stuff behind a PAYWALL - did I forget to mention that it took Nintendo years to add a proper cutscene to the Adventure Mode and even then it was full of STOCK AUDIO?). Also, Mario Sports Mix was my childhood, so thank you for at least giving it a decent placement. I've been looking at gameplay of Mario Hoops 3-On-3 as well, and it's definitely fun for an early DS game. Square Enix basically did what HAL Laboratory did when making Kirby Canvas Curse and made the stylus not just for show.
