The only problem I have with the fake item box challenges is if you use the Double Screen to drive, you can very quickly realize it is painfully obvious to learn where the real one is. Another thing I'd like to mention, is by using the Double Screen, you can pinpoint that “troll” coin on Figure-8 Circuit

I never noticed despite this game being one of my only ds games, but when using a star, the character does their 1st place celebrate animation. Neat detail that I dont think exists in the newer mario karts!

I will say with the Mini Turbo missions is they basically forced me to learn how to drift, so while it's not best explain through the missions, I am glad it taught me how to do Mini Turbos as it allowed me to get pretty good at drifting in Mario Kart DS, 7 and 8 (never was good at drifting in Wii with the Wii Wheel controls though).

What I will say about 1-8 is that it’s an excellent tutorial for doing mini turbos, since most casual players won’t know about it. That’s how my dad learned how to do them for the first time.

6-5 (the sky garden one) always stuck out to me because it made me realize the shortcuts existed, I didn't know about the shortcuts there because I was a stupid dumb toddler when the game came out, so I always thought the mission was kind of cool. also a lot of the missions can be trivialized with the bottom screen, especially the fib missions, since all of the fib's appear as red on the bottom screen.

I loved this mode when I was young Ds was my first Mario Kart so the missions were good replay value. I wish they would bring it back though, hopefully Mario kart on the switch successor “might” but I’m not too confident guess we’ll have to wait and see what happens.

There is a way to prevent King Boo from stealing your coins, but this only works if you've memorized where the coins are and fast enough to get coins. So the moment King Boo stops spinning around you, jump into the lava. And if done correctly, you'll keep your coins.

I’d say Double Dash is my second favourite game behind Wii. It has a great aesthetic and the unique gimmick of two riders in one kart. I also like how most tracks have a similarly themed counterpart to reinforce the duality aspect.
