We both agree on Death Star being #1, it's one of the few I still haven't fully cleared, I was surprised you had Warp as low as you did though, I wonder if my copy is faulty because the start of zone 2 and the drop into the end are really inonsistent. Love the Perplexus content as always, I look forward to your next one!

No they're inconsistent for me too. It's just so short and you've got the 3 checkpoints so I thought maybe I coulda put it higher, but yea, there's just not a lot of obstacles on the whole lol which means even if its inconsistent you're still going to get it sooner or later (at least that's what I've found!) Not 100% sure what I'm gonna do for my next Perplexus video tbh. All I have left to do is the 2x2 walkthrough but I do have several ideas for other videos that are either perplexus or marble maze related. I may even do a rookie speedrun, though I doubt I can beat your record lol.

With using the checkpoints I can definitely see that being less difficult than Original. About the Rookie speedrun, what's crazy is that my time has been beaten twice and 1st place is 3 seconds faster than my 42.7s, I'd love to see what you can get on it though.

Lo acabo de comprar hoy y lo pasé en 2 horas, me gusto mucho, aunque al principio no tanto, en la zona de las canastas hay una que creía muy inconsistente pero tengo un truco, inclinar el Perplexus hasta que la cosa naranja que uno puede mover se mueva sola y caiga hasta donde topa en ese momento el balín que da en la postura correcta para caer en la canasta que queda justo debajo. Will you ever make a video ranking them by difficulty if you have to complete them without using checkpoints? I know many people (myself included) use them as practice points rather than the end of a level, and the perplexus is only beaten when its completed from beginning to end. It feels so much more gratifying that way. Twist would definitely be way higher if that were taken into consideration.

I have the full collection now, excluding A~! mini and the two gear mazes, but I don't count them and don't plan on acquiring them. Also, I have beaten all of them without falling except Epic (record 113) and Death Star (record 58).

Congrats dude. I haven't gotten around to beating the portal yet without falling but otherwise I'm exactly the same. The Rubik's 2x2 might be a bit high lol but death star and epic really a big challenge

@@RCInsight Well, I can solve the Rubik's cube and harder versions too, like the Maltese Gear Cube. So that probably helped me move it around.

My son will be glad to hear this from a pro. He also thinks the stair problem right after practice B on the Epic is super tough and I always dismis this. Using the metal ball's inertia by giving the perplexus tiny shakes instead of tilting the perplexus until the ball starts rolling makes those stairs fairly trivial. Just gave it a few tries, 4 out of 5 with roughly 5-6 seconds on avg. The tube on the portal on the other hand drives me crazy

I own the Rebel, Beast, Epic, Portal, the GO Spiral, Stairs, and Harry Potter, and both the Rubik's Perplexuses. How I rank them, from easiest to hardest, is: 9: GO Stairs. 8: GO Spiral. 7: GO Harry Potter. 6: Rebel. 5. Beast. 4. 2x2 Rubik's Perplexus. 3. Epic. 2. Portal. 1. Rubik's Perplexus 3x3. I find it interesting you have the 3x3 at the top! I also know a lot of people have the Portal over the Epic but I just don't find it harder lol. Thanks for sharing!

@@RCInsight Yeah, the 3x3 is currently the only Perplexus I own that I haven't yet completed, sooooo. Also, as you say, it's the _extremely_ dense packing of tracjs and very low visibility that make it so hard. It's like, you practically have to guess where they go to be able to get anywhere.

I agree it is really really dense. I guess because mine is so easy to spin and the track is so easy as a whole, I find it annoying trying to get it to match up right, but I don't go flying off the track randomly like I do with the 2x2 lol. It is definitely not the most well designed Perplexus.

This is so fascinating! I used to play Perplexus about a decade ago and am recently getting back into them. I have Original, Rookie, Epic, Twist, and Warp. I didnt know there were so many, I really want to get Portal now! As a kid I was adament about not using checkpoints, so for me the ranking goes Rookie, Original, Warp (only because of the cascading cups. I havent even beaten this one because I just get too frustrated after failing at the cups a bunch of times and then put it down), Twist, and Epic. I still havent gone all the way through Twist or Epic either, but I definitely want to try them with checkpoints. Thank you for your videos!

It's funny you mention no checkpoints, because there are still a bunch I have yet to do without checkpoints (epic included) but hopefully I'll manage to do that soon as I am planning on doing a second ranking video for hardest to complete without checkpoints (I suspect epic will take the cake for that)

@@RCInsight After finishing this video I went back and finally beat Warp without checkpoints for the first time! I also tried Twist and got pretty far, but there are certainly some difficult areas towards the end. But then I tried Epic again and wow, it is just so hard! Unfortunately I don't remember how far I've gotten without checkpoints as it's been twelve years since I've kept score (somewhere around 80-100), but it is just so difficult. That being said, I think it's such a well-made game and I have so much fun playing it!

I want to buy a Perplexus, and I'm thinking about buying Portal, so they don't finish the game so quickly (they are very skilled at Thinkfun games, smartgames, Lego,...) do you think it's too difficult? Hey thanks for the comment and your English is absolutely fine! I was a big thinkfun and LEGO person too (as you can probably tell from the channel lol) I think I got my first Perplexus around the age of 7 or 8 and it was the original/beast. At the time it proved quite a challenge for me and took a long time to finish. The portal is absolutely amazing in my opinion and one of the most well balanced Perplexus but I do think it’s harder than the beast. Thinking back to my younger self, the portal probably would’ve been ok for me at age 14 but maybe a touch too difficult at 9. They’re probably going to want to end up with several of them anyway if they really like one so I might start out with the original just because I think it’s a better starting point to get used to Perplexus while still being challenging. Alternatively you could just get both the original and portal and let them mess around with both. Hopefully that helps a little bit :)

Ha! You like to stir it up, don't you. I think the ones that are poorly engineered - the 3*3, keychains, worlds smallest twist, etc - should be debarred from this listing really. Death Star and Epic at the top, but which is harder, both are really tough but in slightly differing ways, in the spacing of the difficult obstacles, and in Death Star's case in its visual challenges. Then I can't differentiate between Twist, Warp and Golden Snitch and Portal, all really playable yet challenging games. Original/Beast/Superplexus, with 2*2 and with the non-Perplexus Sharper Image/Space Maze Challenge (I really enjoy this one and recommend it) go together I think, then the lesser but still enjoyable games like Go Stairs and Spiral, then the nonentities like the Minis. Rebel is in a class of its own as a great starter game. I also disagree that you took into account checkpoints, as Death Star has four really, including the start. I may change my mind on Death Star, as I have just effected repairs on mine, and am trying to get to grips with it once more, but Epic for me is tops.....

I still cannot find these other theoretical checkpoints you've mentioned on the Death Star lol! Where are they at? And even still, they might be easy points to get on the course but if it's not an official checkpoint, I'm not going to count it either way. I may consider doing another ranking, or maybe even just a top 10 Perplexus video, where I go over the difficulty to get from start to finish without dropping off, ignoring any and all checkpoints. I am planning on grabbing the sharper image eventually lol and yea several people seem to find the warp really challenging! I probably could've put it higher honestly, it's just so short I kinda second guessed myself on the difficulty I suppose.

@@RCInsight At point-21, just before you drop into the little sequence leading to the X-wing, there's a little semi-circular gap in the wall dropping down to 94. Millimetres past that point, there's a position where the wall comes close to the outer skin, if you gently jump the BB you'll drop below to point 76 - I think they are both deliberate, though not official perhaps. I cannot comment on Warp, mine is second-hand and was clearly broken and glued back together by the previous owner - it only goes to just after the start of part3, still looking for another version of it... On my Death Star, again second-hand, the previous BB degraded marking all the outer skin and the paths, I've replaced it, but am trying to find a practical way of cleaning it through the tiny hole I made, could be a long job...! Have you found a method of passing point29 on Twist, that tricky little transfer across planes, I still can't do it.

I don't think the "checkpoints" should be considered in the difficulty aside from their use as practice (which is what they are). If the practice makes it easier because it lets you nail down a tricky part at the end before the full go, that makes sense, but I think that considering them to be checkpoints is ingenuous to the difficulty levels (since you obviously wouldn't count it as completed if you used them).

I have the original. The hardest parts for me are steps 30, 38, 55, 58, 62, 91, and 98. Step 30 is becoming the bane of my existence. 🙄

I'm new to Perplexus and recently got the Epic, which I find both a lot of fun and....so....incredibly....annoying. Not annoying in the sense that it's a bad product, not at all, but in the sense that I regularly want to throw it out of the window. Two minutes later I'm glad I didn't, because I want to try it again, and the whole thing repeats. Have been stuck at I believe it's number 44 for a long while now, I just can't get the turn in the right way. One day!

Golden snitch is the version I have and the best in my opinion for beginners, agreeing with you on your other video. I believe I commented on that, too saying how the golden snitch is a rebel/rookie

I do my best to read all the comments and reply to as many as I can :) The epic is definitely a challenge, but just wait until you get the death star one day, I promise you it's harder (at least its harder for me) The big difference is the Epic has 3 checkpoints and the death star only has one. Not using checkpoints at all, I'm not sure which is harder, I'd really have to think about that one! Also you find the Snitch easy? I find it quite challenging for some reason. Just goes to show how something that's difficult for one person can be easy for someone else! Glad you like the videos and that they've helped you out :)

Yes, Perplexus Warp has been discontinued for many years at this point, but you should be able to find it on places like amazon and ebay and maybe even marketplace

Frankly I watched the video to get a size approximation to purchase my next perplexus. I don't need the hardest just a fidget but I do appreciate the notes about the lowest few on your list cause they are affordable and available right now but I think I'll try the Golden Snitch one next (I was introduced to the OG Perplexus babysitting and eventually got myself the World's Smallest OG Perplexus but have misplaced it in the move). Thanks!
