Cause humans don’t like change, nobody does. It’s something you get used to. I remember even in 2013 people hated the pvz2 art style for not being pvz1, but later grew to love it. Same for the music. I personally really like the game and its music and art style, but it could use a lot of work in its gameplay. If the gameplay isn’t good, no matter how much you try to hide it with good graphics, it’s still gonna suck.

Emphasis on "some" and "that bad". People don't like it because they think it looks bad. Change is something that humans generally dislike, but other things have gone though massive changes and they're fine, or even loved.

They actually made a lot of the basic plants like potato mine, cabbage pult, peashooter and others actually look good. But some like sun shroom, blockbuster, and others which are more complex they had trouble with. I like the new style; but I hope a lot of these plants return, such a shame for so much work to be put into this only for it to be all canned.

Some of the designs aren't too bad, but the problem is that the character models and the way they were rendered makes them look horrible. It also just makes the game look hollow.

The new one is too exaggerated and not realistic like pvz1, I get what they were going for (a comic book style meets the pvz1 art style), but it just looks too bright and goofy like BFN.
