06 Silver has always been my favorite interpretation. I feel he strikes the best balance between being serious and cocky when he needs to be, but also sensitive and quiet. His unexpected but sweet friendship with Amy and brief mentor-mentee relationship with Shadow were also pretty cool.

Really, you could probably just focus on levels that work with the time-travel aesthetic (i.e. something from Sonic CD), levels from games that he was at least in (like Forces), levels that have futuristic vibes (Digital Circuit, maybe?), etc.

I remember their description made somewhere... I don't remember where (maybe was in Mario and Sonic at the Vancouver winter olympic games 2010.) but was really spot on: "the prince from the future and the princess of another dimension" beautiful. But I think in 06 the thing was clear, our Hedgehogs represented Shadow the past, Sonic the present and Silver the future, but Blaze alone represent space. This is not clear in this video, because is not about Blaze, but Blaze best lore is given in the sonic rush games, where is clear she has her different emeralds and "super form" obviously they are a perfect couple.

I really hope that someday they give Silver the same treatment Shadow did in generations. Where more stories are added, and we get to learn more about his backstory. Because if you really think about it, this kid grew up in a messed up future. Like, I don't think this guy has actually touched grass in his life before time traveling. I would definitely love it if they were to explain a little more of that. I get it's hard because of 06, but if Rivals is his actual appearance, I kinda wish we got to see more of what happened to him. Along with how he's able to time travel, his origins, etc, like he has so much potential, and I just wish we knew more about him. He is canonically one of the strongest characters, which is why he stands by Sonic and Shadow in that regard. So, c'mon Sega, give this poor dude a game already.

Considering that Silver is one of the only characters who were unaffected by the white void in Sonic Generations (the others being Shadow and Metal Sonic) it's not entirely off the table for something like that to happen in the future. That he's continued to appear in the games and spinoffs since means that they understand that fans like him, so I'd expect that it's likely that we'll get some good representation at some point soon in the future.

For real!! Silver has SO much potential. The IDW comics are getting it right, though. During the Metal Virus, there were only two people who were untouched at the end of it (if you don't count the robot characters lol) and that was Rouge (who was planning to go down with the Master emerald lol) and SILVER. Bro's literally just chillin' in the air, and he's the reason why Sonic could even help defeat the virus. If he got his own solo game, I'd flip, and we also need a Blaze spotlight soon. The difference between his personality in 06 and later games is why I headcanon they're completely different Silvers. One got erased and the other got a more tame and populated future I like current Silver but ever time I see his personality in 06 makes me wish that was the one we got to see more or. Of note, the conversation of "In your dreams Sonic" is very different in Japanese. It implies Sonic remembers 06's events, as its about Sonic saying Silver has changed from when he was all "I will destroy you" which confuses Silver since he never said that. Colors DS is interesting for Dimps games because according to Iizuka and Ian Flynn, it's canon unlike the other alternate versions of Sonic Team games (but canon alongside the Wii version, not instead of. My guess is it means the Wii main story is canon, but so are the DS missions and True Final Boss. So despite having little story, Colors DS is important for Silver's new future being established and meeting Blaze a second time)

Silver has been criminally underutilised in the series since 06's failure. And this is coming from someone who doesn't consider Silver to be one of the best characters in the series (he's about maybe 15th in character rankings for me). He has never had a fair chance for a redemption outside of external media in the series. I'm hoping with Sega's renewed interest in using the wider cast will see another attempt in using Silver (story and gameplay) especially if Shadow Generations turns out successful. Project 06 shows how fun Silver's gameplay can be when properly realized and finished.

You missed a REALLY interesting detail about Silver in the IDW comics! …he DOESNT save the future. Once the metal virus and other arcs are over, returning to the future it’s still… destroyed? Which is frustrating for him because, his entire PURPOSE being in the past is to solve this! But he’s run out of ideas for what could be wrong and it makes him feel pretty aimless. Espio however convinces him to relax. Silver has a habit of putting the world on his shoulders and hyper focusing on his problems, which can be a bit unhealthy. So he decides to not worry so much about it and take his time figuring things out. Interestingly, this implies that whatever threat destroyed the future hasn’t been revealed yet, and is likely a bigger deal than the metal virus and other problems so far. Which is interesting because it leaves this foreboding unknown presence hanging over him the entirety of these comics. It’s especially weird because, the way he describes it is that the future isn’t destroyed in a traditional sense, it’s just everyone is… gone. He can’t even figure out why or what could have caused that. It’s the first time he’s at an absolute loss about what to do.

Considering that Silver was one of the characters other than Shadow and Metal Sonic who were unaffected by the white void in Sonic Generations, it is possible that we might get a Sonic 06 centric expansion akin to Sonic x Shadow Generations at some point...maybe. I'm not getting my hopes up. He is my favourite character though, I do hope he gets some justice at some point. Edit: He did actually have some characterization in the Story Mode of the DS version of Mario and Sonic at the Winter Olympic Games and I feel he was done pretty faithfully. He even started a friendship with Donkey Kong of all people after retrieving some bananas for him.

The scene with Silver and Geoffrey in Archie almost made me cry. I liked him in 06, but Archie Silver is easily my favorite. So much depth was given to his story, and I loved it. His personality is similar to 06, but a lot more story was added. I also do like his reboot solo story, "The Silver Age". I fill not forget the scene where he says he's sick of hearing people say, "It's no use." That was great.

Silver is my favorite, and I absolutely agree with the ranking. He is great in 06, which is the silver I really grew to love. I truthfully do seem them as you put it; Best friends if not mentors at best but, The Sonic fandom & 06's writing (Mostly the fandom) ruined the idea of guy x girl being just friends. As someone that played the mobile games, there isn't really a lot of characterization. In Runners i think it's cool he and Blaze get captured in an event and save themselves before Sonic even arrives, but that's about it. He has a Nutcracker costume in the other games that i think is cool bc his character line was about the current time being one to cherish, and that's why it's the "present", but that's about it

They also made a Techno/Futuristic Rockstar costume for him in Sonic Speed Simulator. And he was competing with his edm/techno music with DJ Knuckles's Hip Hop music in that event. By the way, most players voted for Silver in that event so he won. In terms of original costume designs, he also got a summer costume this year in that game which looks nice on him. Also he has a gold style costume as well.

Silver's my favorite character too. I love him being this hopeful dork who can kick ass. Evan Stanley does a lot of writing/art for Silver in both the IDW and Archie comics, and I think she has a lot to do with how well he's characterized there. He's her favorite character, and you can tell that from her old fan comic, Ghosts of the Future. I really like what she does with him.

Beside Sonic and Shadow Silver is currently my third favorite character in the whole Sonic franchise, I love him a lot and think that you're right that the IDW version of Silver can be the best one because of how well he's been written in those comics.(I've never read those comics so I only understand it because of what you said in this video about that version of Silver, I'll try to read them online sometime) He deserves to get his own solo spin-off game and be playable again in future mainline ones too. Those things could happen because it's been said that SEGA is finally acknowledging Silver, and they also had his own theme song play in this year's Sonic Symphony! PS, in a few years you might want to update this video by including Movie Silver, because in the contract his debut game is on the list of which Sonic games SEGA is allowing Paramount to adapt copyrighted source material from into the movies, and he got hinted at in episode 1 of the Knuckles series by having Maddie be shown wearing a white hat and an auqua green shirt (colors that match the long fur around Silver's neck and parts of his gloves and boots) when she was outside. So Silver can make a first appearence in the SCU (Sonic Cinematic Universe) through a Sonic 06 inspired movie. That "Flames of Disaster" titled episode can count as a second hint that a movie that will have inspiration in it from that game is likely coming in the future.

I recommend using the original/real japanese stories of the sonic games and not english ones i understand you maybe dont know japanese and that is why you dont use them but windii has translated lot of the japanese cutscenes. I really don't know how you could say that about IDW Silver right after talking about Archie silver. You go on to explain that he doesn't have anything to do outside of the metal virus. To me IDW silver just isn't enough and I so prefer Archies's version especially since we actually see how his future is effected, what hes fighting for. After the metal virus, IDW silver is just there for the sake of being there, especially at this point. And no I don't find that interesting because in Archie he always had something to do, whether it was helping to fight scourge, to helping to subdue mecha Sally. And you didn't even cover the fact that he has a whole Sonic Universe arc Post-SGW called the Silver Age. Gold the tenrec ring any bells?

I think I would put 06 in S and put team sonic racing at least in C as while it isn’t perfect him being a goofball in that way I feel has contributed to the mix we get in Idw which I also think is S tier. Idw and 06 Silver are my favorites :)
