I’m surprised by how much I ended up agreeing with this list. As a Sabres fan we absolutely deserve to be near the bottom, the entire rest of the fanbase annoys me so damn much. I dont think you touched on this in the video but a lot of them have kneejerk reactions every time we lose and are impatient af with the organization when it comes to things like player development and long-term franchise plans. Also fully agree with putting the Oilers fans at the bottom, every single interaction I’ve ever had with Oilers fans has been UNBEARABLE. If I could make a few small changes I’d move sens fans to “worst” tier, they’re usually abt at the same level of delusion that all the Sabres bandwagoners who didn’t watch the us play like ass last year were at in the offseason. I may also swap the pens and hawks fans lol
@mateoshullio16284 ай бұрын
I get why you put the Sabres in the worst, but one interaction one time shouldn’t be the reason you hate our entire fanbase, 13 years with the Sabres 18 with the bills. How about you try that with your favorite team. There is an entire generation of fans who have never seen the blue and gold in the playoffs. Come to Buffalo and watch a game. We are friendly people. This list feels fairly accurate and I enjoyed the video a lot. I'll admit to being a VGK fan and you're 100% right about it being a polarizing group. You get the newbie and fair weather fans but you also have some seriously dedicated and enthusiastic fans of the sport who love their team. I've been a hockey fan since about 1995 (Lemieux/Jagr era Pens and early Phoenix Coyotes specifically) and got back into hockey when we got a team here in Vegas. I've witnessed great fans and a handful of annoying ones at our home games. I haven't been to a game this year so I don't know if we're better or worse as fans with a Cup banner in the rafters. I think, generally, visiting fans are treated well here and enjoy themselves. Being a tourist town, many of our home games are split in terms of fans and in some instances, visiting fans even outweigh the home fans (Calgary and Edmonton in particular based on my experience).

Detroit fan here. Yeah, some of our fans are kinda nuts, agreed. But generally here we had a couple long streaks of winning and losing. Since Gordie Howe left Detroit (we were great with him) Detroit entered what we called the "Dead Wings" era. No winning or much of anything for 30+ years straight. Then we had 25 straight years of playoffs and a few Stanley Cups to show for it, so for Detroit that was like a high after 42 years of no Stanley Cup. Now those days are over and some are still trying to cling to that high and are in a denial stage that we are rebuilding again. If we weren't so good for so long I think it'd be different but all in all, Detroit is in that denial stage of being bad. Most Wings fans only remember nothing but playoffs and Stanley Cups their whole life, so this is a big change and they don't know how to cope with it. Side note: All original 6 in the bottom 3 categories...

For clarity, how many different teams have you watched the regular season game at? I’ve seen home games over the last 30 years at 20 NHL franchises. You put all of the original six fan bases and I think all of the Canadian franchises in your basement. It seems you are seeking a gutless, no hostility to visitors experience. I saw a game in the forum when I was 12 years old and a 40 year old man translated the entire game back and forth to me to his father who watched Elmer Lach, Toe Blake, the Rocket, Jean Bellevue, Mahovolich, Plante, Dryden, the Flower, Robinson, Mahovolich, Shutt, etc, and recounted those experiences to me. Do you realize the word “fan” is short for fanatic? What’s so fanatical about the Stars fans? I live in Dallas and 90% of them would give up 10 Cups for the Cowboys making the Super Bowl, and the Rangers or Mavs winning a championship.

I agree. You get some snooty yuppie couples that haven’t actually followed the team since June of ‘98, where the wife might act condescending to home and away fans alike. You also get an occasional drunk guy or some younger guys who played AAA acting like know-it-alls. Aside from those like 17 people at the game, most of us are just trying to have a good time or complain about the rebuild with our people we’re sitting with. Or we’re complaining about being in seats so steep that you might as well bring mountain climbing gear while the Joe had no bad seats… Hockey town is like 90-97% all home fans anyways unless we play Toronto or Columbus. There’s hardly any away fans to even be rude to if one wanted.

Why did you rank all Canada's teams so low?
@TheSnapback4 ай бұрын
I can answer this. The Leafs and Canadiens are original 6 teams, which make them one of the most valuable. More valuable = more fans, more fans = more obnoxious. You can see that he ranked the other original 6 teams low as well. The Oilers have been more hated recently, as they have been getting all the good picks which make them seem pampered, or full of bandwagoners. They got gifted with the two greatest players of all time, Gretzky and McDavid. They have a lot of cocky fans because of their recent success in the regular season and playoffs, so that adds onto it. Canucks are a bit reasonable as well. They started riots after they lost the finals against Rangers and Bruins, giving them a bad reputation. Their fans are known for being whiny, and their recent success has made them a lot louder. The thing is that most teams see their recent success as just the teams they go against, and they shouldn't be as high as they are. Thus, people are starting to hate their fanbase more. Senators and Jets are both forgettable, they haven't won a cup or gone on many deep playoff runs; hence, no reason for bragging rights. Makes sense why he put them there. Lastly, the Flames are simply overshadowed by the Oilers in Alberta, so they don't have as many fans. Their team is far less successful, and have pretty disappointing in the postseason in the past 2 decades. Hope this helps you understand why he put all Canadian teams lower, and it might also have to do with him being an American.
@NickDunner4 ай бұрын
I live in Ontario and love EDM and everyone loves TOR so I can easily see what you mean by obnoxious. Leafs fans think that every year is their year and go crazy that I like EDM so in Alberta OIlers fans are likely the same. I think generally the more popular teams will be more obnoxious as they are louder. Teams with no bragging rights or many fans will have a more humble, chill fanbase. Proportionally, there are the same amount of toxic fans for every fanbase. It's just that if a fanbase is bigger, the number will be higher. I'm saying this as a Rangers fan, but I think of myself as more objective and humble than the average fan. As for your statements, I understand why fanbases like the Rangers, Leafs, or Bruins seem horrible. We are the original 6: the most valuable teams in the league. There are going to be a bigger amount of obnoxious fans like I said. Personally I think the Devils fanbase is terrible because of my bias, just like how you think they are the best because of yours. I've seen just as many toxic Devils fans as Rangers fans, especially because of what happened after the playoffs. Either way I don't think any Devils fan is inherently obnoxious and terrible, I've met a good amount pretty nice fans. Again, this just has to do with the fanbase I'm a part of. All in all, your list still isn't terrible; aside from your hate for the Rangers, I agree with a lot of it. Keep it up, hope your channel continues to grow.

The entire meaning of humble is not talking about how humble you are
@TheSnapback4 ай бұрын
@@TheStopMotionCat1 You don't understand the meaning then. I know when the Rangers have a bad game, and I criticize them for it. I don't just go around bragging about the Rangers, but I will stand up for them if wrongfully mocked or hated. I take things objectively, I look at statistics and figure out what is the truth. I try being as honest as I can be, I won't just troll another team if they lost to us. If they played a hard fought game, then I will acknowledge that. So yeah, I would consider myself humble just by the definition. I am not "bragging" about being humble, I am merely telling him that there are many fans who are. The toxic ones are the loudest, so of course that is who you are going to see most often.

Rangers just had enough fans that splitting them up into another team would still make them have one of the biggest fanbases in the league, but also have another team with a lot of fans.
@TheSnapback4 ай бұрын
@@TheStopMotionCat1 I do disagree with him. The Canadiens were just in the finals a few years ago, and as a Rangers fan, they were a good team in the playoffs. Price was definitely robbed of a cup, just like Lundqvist was. Since a lot of teams like to pick on us for not having cups, they do not actually acknowledge how good our teams actually were. They act like the Rangers were some non-threatening team since 1994, and that's very much not the case.

I feel like theres more Ranger fans in Jersey than New York
@TheSnapback4 ай бұрын
Yeah there are lol (I'm a Rangers fan from NJ). This is because the Rangers have been around a lot longer than the Devils, by about 55 years. Because we are the original 6, we are a lot more valuable, which makes us more popular. Devils fans only really started to arise during the Brodeur era, or the mid-90's. Since most people in Jersey were already Rangers fans during that time, not a lot of people felt like switching. South Jersey is also more home to Flyers fans because they were also around before the Devils, a team that dominated the 1970's.

I don't really hate any Canadian team, but his list still makes sense. Leafs/Habs are original 6 so have more obnoxious fans; Oilers fans are more pampered due to them getting good picks and getting gifted with two of the greatest NHL players of all time, McDavid and Gretzky; Canucks fans have a history of whining over things not going their way and caused riots when they lost the finals twice; Sens, Flames, Jets just don't have much success which make them forgettable

I don't take credit for this. To suggest that the Rangers aren’t the greatest sports organization of all time throughout history to a Rangers fan is analogous to something that falls between inquisition-era blasphemy and trying to convince someone from Chicago that deep dish isn’t the best kind of pizza. Regardless of all the statistics, regardless of all the losing seasons, regardless of the lack of banners that pepper the rafters of the Garden, Rangers fans are convinced at a wholesale level that every other team is irrelevant, and hockey would be nothing without the Rangers, because New York, because original six. Any type of rational discussion about hockey meets a hard stop with but we play at Madison Square Garden, the greatest stadium of all time, ever, which quickly devolves into an incoherent rambling of which only a few pieces of something remotely resembling English can be distilled: something something, 1994, something something, original six. Have any of you ever been to Madison Square Garden? Excuse me, I mean The World Famous Madison Square Garden Brought to you by Chase Manhattan Bank, Goldman Sachs and JP Morgan. It SUCKS. Really, it’s not a good arena-it has history, but not enough history to eradicate the image etched into my brain of the 3 homeless guys I saw jerking off on the E line when I was on my way there. The halls are cramped and the seats aren’t comfortable, but they do have TVs strategically positioned around the seating for convenient viewing, you know, in case I want to watch the fucking telecast while I’m at the live game after paying $245 for mezzanine level seats. But that’s unfair of me-tickets are only $220 during games vs. the Western Conference. There are two types of experiences you’ll have at MSG: the high brow, and the low brow. The low brow is experienced if you’re wearing a jersey of an opposing team (especially a rival): you’ll inevitably be heckled by some out-of-work 23 year old wearing a Brian Leetch sweater over Keystone Light stained cargo shorts, trying his damnedest to get his drunk, vacant, unintelligent eyes to focus on you for more than 3 seconds as he shovles a $16 NATHANS MSG WORLD FAMOUS hot dog into his mouth. I’m liberally applying the term ‘heckle’ there, by the way, because as I mentioned earlier, what comes out of the collective mouths of Rangers fans is closer to the vocal fumblings of early hominid cro magnons. The other experience, the high brow experience, is you pay $2000 to sit next to an investment banker who keeps checking his phone for Wimbeldon highlights. Don’t make eye contact with him, pleb. You’re a nobody. The Freudian-level cognitive dissonance is structural; the television station that plays Rangers (and Devils, and Islanders) games is called MSG, and every April we experience the same rolling tradition: the Rangers are knocked out of the playoffs, Al Trautwig, Ron Dugauy and Bill Pidto find a way to deflect their disappointment and utter disbelief that THE New York Rangers didn’t win the cup again by attributing it to some extra-hockey force, like the refs, or bad ice, or “bad puck luck,” and quickly drown their emotions in a circlejerk of how great the 1994 team was as a pre-amble to the inevitable telecast of ROAD TO THE CUP: 1994. Something, something, this is Hugh Jessiman’s fault. The worst part of all of it is the most hardcore Rangers fans I’ve encountered are kids who’ve moved from the midwest and adopted the Rags as their team to offset the embarrassment of only being able to afford an apartment in Crown Heights in their desperate attempt to convince their friends from home that they’re living the New York experience. Fuck off, and go back to Madison, WI. The New York Rangers have been around since the dawn of time, yet have only managed to eek out 4 cups, 3 of which came during an era where there were only 5 other teams. The Islanders eclipsed that in four years; the Devils, the less attractive cousin from the sleazier side of the family, have managed 3 in just over 30 years. And we played in Continental Airlines Arena.

I know this isn't yours, but I'm going to do a rebuttal anyways. It's up to you if you actually want to read it or not. Yeah, what an exaggeration lol. As a Rangers fan, this made me laugh. The amount of passion it takes to hate a team like this means they hurt you in some way. For example, Canes rarely beat us, so I really don't care about them even though they are a divisional rival. MSG is really not as bad as you say, it is one of the best arenas to be at and play at. The reason it's so expensive is because the Rangers are one of the most valuable teams in the league, just like the Leafs or Bruins. You like to mock us for our underachievement with cups, yet if we actually were a team that was historically bad, you would not hate us this much. It shows you don't understand what the original 6 era was even like, or why we didn't win that many cups in that era. Neither did the Blackhawks or Bruins, and the reason is because it was rigged for Canadian teams. There was no draft, so they got the first picks. As for saying Isles are more successful than us, that's subjective. Aside from those 4 cups from 1980-83, they haven't done much since that time. Making the playoffs itself is still seen as success, and we've done that 14 times in this era, or salary cap era (2005-). We have had many great teams that have had very successful regular seasons, and have gone deep in the playoffs. To get a cup, everything has to go your way. Not saying it's all luck, but the teams you go against, and game 7's that could be won by a coin flip really don't say a whole lot about how good your team actually is. Because of how great our teams have been, we have had a good record against almost every team. So yeah, you can laugh at how little cups we have, but that doesn't mean we haven't been successful. And to think the Devils are even more successful than us is funny, since all of their cups came within the dead puck era. Since the NHL fixed hockey that the Devils destroyed, they have made the playoffs half the times we have, and haven't had a whole lot of playoff runs. So yeah, the cup argument really isn't that strong when you are actually trying to compare which team has actually been better historically. I matched your rant with a Rangers counter-argument, which is fitting. Anyways, I'm sorry our team has hurt you so bad that you needed to come up with all these ridiculous insults to hate on us. I'm not even trying to be toxic, it's just that I see a lot of people hating the Rangers for the wrong reasons. We are a team with pride and a wonderful history, and people hate us for that.
@TheStopMotionCat14 ай бұрын
@@TheSnapbackyou proved the point made in the first argument with your rebuttal by talking about your amazing history also more commonly known as Wayne Gretzky and losing to Jack Hughes in the playoffs when you have a super team, You also talked about the NHL being “fixed for the Canadians” because we had more talented players and the Martin Brodeur era was “fixed” despite people like Mario Lemieux and Teemu Selanne still in the league and scoring shit loads of goals, Martin Brodeur had a .927 save percentage in 1997 and scored three goalie goals in his career. while you talk about how historical the rangers are you are the least memorable of the original six and I even forget that team exists sometimes because of how mediocre the rangers have been in over 100 years and only managing the least cups of the original six and not having had any actual history behind being an original six member and even if the devils were as bad as you say how did you lose to them when you were 2-0 in the series with Patrick Kane, Vladimir Tarasenko, Mika Zibanejad, Jacob Trouba, Artemi Panarin, Adam Fox, and Igor Shesterkin all on your team. I keep seeing you in the comments going on about what the first guy was talking about and you don’t even notice it.
