Review: Radical Optimism plays too safe. Especially coming off from Future Nostalgia and Dua promising a Psychedelic Pop album, and the final product being kind of a generic summer album. This album and era left a lot to be desired with its poor marketing and its mixed quality songs. Houdini and Training Season are standouts but they feel out of place. The rest are ok or mid except Maria which is another standout for me. Rating: 6/10

Your thoughts on this album? 🤔 Dua drowned herself by promising so many influences that feel incomplete… Despite that, it is an enjoyable and friendly album.

I think it's a very cohesive album. The songs do not stand out as much as those of Future Nostalgia. But together, they create a very enjoyable roller coaster.

Para mí fue una decepción fatal, no cumplió con las expectativas que tanto prometió, no veo por ningún lado la psicodelia, trip hop y el tributo al rave británico. Hasta pareciera que no es un álbum por el cual se trabajo durante 4 años, el concepto del álbum está súper rebuscado y no tiene ni pies ni cabeza en lo sonoro ni visual...

Radical Optimism es uno de mis albumes favoritos de lo que va del año, pero no de Dua Lipa. Siento que Future Nostalgia dejó la vara muy alta. Pero Radical no es malo y tiene canciones disfrutables. Mi Top: 1. Houdini (Su mejor canción) 2. End Of An Era 3. Whatcha Doing 4. Training Season 5. Maria PD: Me gustaría que calificaras Found Heaven de Conan Gray. Saludos 👍

My Ranking: 11. Anything For Love (N/A) - Had potential, but too short 10. French Exit (5/10) - Forgettable 9. Illusion (5/10) - Sorry, but this sounds like a worse Hallucinate. Chorus melody is just off. - Best MV 8. Falling Forever (6/10) - Killer verses. Sorry, but not a big fan of the chorus. 7. Happy For You (6/10) - I prefer it if it was a ballad, but still a better ending than Boys Will Be Boys. 6. These Walls (6/10) - Emotions is there and sonically good song, but the writing does leave a lot to be desired. 5. Whatcha Doing (7/10) - It’s a fun and colorful song. 4. End of An Era (7/10) - Solid start and a better intro than Future Nostalgia. - Should be single (sounds very radio friendly compared to the other non singles) 3. Training Season (8/10) - First I didn’t like it, but now it stands out on the album. Is it me or does it feel out of place on this album? 2. Maria (8/10) - Underrated. Love the beginning guitar and the flute in the breakdown. 1. Houdini (9/10) - Best song and it grew on me. But like Training Season, sounds out of place on this album. Overall Score: 6/10

Completely agree!! I Love this album but all singles sound out of place and like you can make a 2 completely different albums mixing these with those from Future Nostalgia

I hoenstly think this album is big time grower. It's not as big as FN but it still slaps. My rating: 11. Anything for love (5/10) 10. French exit (6/10) 9. End of an era (6.5/10) 8. Whatcha doing (7/10) 7. These Walls (7/10) 6. Maria (7.5/10) 5. Happy for you (8/10) 4. Training season (8/10) 3. Falling forever (8/10) 2. Houdini (9/10) 1. Illusion (9/10) I really wished it was a bit more psychedelic and catchy but I aint disappointed.
