I apologize for not mentioning this in the video but there are brief but substantial Elden Ring spoilers right before the top 50. I played background footage of a few of the bosses. If you don't want to see that then please skip it. I'm sorry to the person that had those fights spoiled because of me. I hope that doesn't happen to anyone else.
KZbin has a llimit on chapters so I had to break it down into groups like this. There's a pinned comment with timestamps for every boss if you want to find a specific one.
Thanks to SphericAlpha for letting me use some of their footage. Their channel can be found here:

Edit: There are some spoilers for Elden Ring right before my top 50. I apologize for not warning about that beforehand. KZbin has a limit on the number of chapters you can use so I had to condense them. But I can still put timestamps for every boss in a comment so here they are. A lot of boss ranking videos have gotten repetitive and stale, but combining every boss in one video without sacrificing length really shows how much love you have for this series and (some of) its bosses. Made my slow work night better

I'm glad I was able to make your night more enjoyable! I tried my absolute best to keep it interesting throughout while also discussing almost everything I wanted to. It was really hard to not repeat myself too much. Especially in the more mediocre boss range where I have very little to say about them. The reception of this video seems to say that I did a pretty good job. I'm really happy to be able to share my love for this series and these bosses through this video. @@shidanslairbut has more points to his favor than Micolash for example. Micolash, from lore perspective and the fight being a chase, is fun and a good character, but the fact that he instakills you in a second if you are not lucky is a BIG drawback. Aldia on the other hand is a very meh fight, but not unfair, and the character is one of the most interesting in the Dark Souls trilogy lorewise
@shidanslair

@@Controlqueen31 I agree, we all know the lore in these games is amazing, but even though the lore of some characters is great, the fights are not. Bed of Chaos, Aldia, Vendrick, Micolash, Laurence, High Lord Wolnir are some examples that have excellent backstories, but could have been better bosses.

Alonne's Seppuku animation is actually both an act of shame and a sign of respect/loyalty. In feudal japanese culture, it was custom for samurai to take their own life via seppuku for failing their masters, and when you take into account the fact you are experiencing the fight from the point of view of the Iron King, his former employer, it starts to make sense

A fun fact about the Ape Duo: If you don't rush the Brown ape you'll realize she's just a moveset extended for the Headless Ape. As in, she'll hang back and only attack during some of his gaps to cover for him, always with the same attacks so it's 100% predictable and learneable. For example, when Headless does the big overhead that if deflected leaves him open for the centipede pull with the spear. You deflect the Headless' sword, then pull the centipede with the spear, then Brown will jump at you. If you time it correctly you have enough time to deflect Brown's jump attack right as you finish hitting Headless with the spear. The reason people struggle with this fight and think it sucks is because they do it wrong by trying to kill the brown ape as soon as she shows up. She won't attack you independently unless you get close to her. Also Darklurker appreciation, mad respect.
@SensDen
@SensDen Жыл бұрын
I guess that makes sense. Not sure it makes the fight much better but I haven't tried it. It's easy enough to just rush the brown ape down and win so I'm probably not going to change that strategy but I might try to be more open minded about it next time I play the game. Darklurker is awesome

@@SensDen It totally changed the fight for me once I realized it. The fight went from being on the same tier as Lud and Zallen to being probably in my top 3 duo bosses. I really wanted to make it more than just about the boss fight and make it about their entire presence in the game. When I felt like it at least. This really was just a big passion project where I wanted to get all my thoughts out on these games. I just talked about whatever I wanted to with each boss. Sometimes it leaned more into mechanics. Sometimes more into story. Sometimes it was their music. Sometimes it was everything. Whatever it was that I found interesting/compelling/annoying about a boss is what I chose to talk about. I think it made for a pretty unique take on this type of video because it keeps the segments different. And writing about the things that interest me lead to my best work. I plan to continue making content but what game I'll tackle next I honestly have no idea. Probably going to be something totally different. I've already got one thing in mind that's a complete tonal shift from this or my Drakengard video. I appreciate the comment! Thank you for watching!

Watched the entire video twice, and have already listened to it more than a dozen times already, can't sing my praises for not only your commitment and hard work, but the amount of time and love poured into this! Personally, been working on a mod for a game called Freelancer for a couple of years now, so the burn out, redoing parts of it, polishing and having this little "you have to finish it, not for anyone but yourself to prove that you can do it" voice in the head felt deep on a personal level, and seriously, I can't put it into words how much I appreciate your dedication and persistence to see this through, and I'm honestly happy that this video not only does well, but it.. what now, has 10 times more views than the Drakengard one? Absolutely great work all around, glad that it does well and its nice to see so many people gathering here to share the success and provide feedback and praise, you deserve every bit of good thing that has came out of this passion project! Not a native english speaker so pardon in advance if any of my sentences have a weird feeling to that, but I really have to nail it down that this is a 100% positive feedback and something that I can also relate to on a personal level, so in a way, I also thank you for proving to me that even I will be able to finish my own work if I put my mind to it!

I would personally put Orphan of Kos a lot higher, but I respect your opinion all the same. Honestly, it's great to see someone that respects the bosses of Demon's Souls and doesn't group them all down near the bottom just because they're easier than what came after. Old Hero for example is one of my personal favorites, I love all the little touches that come from him being blind and can be used against him in the fight.

I can easily see why someone would put Orphan of Kos higher and respect that. I've always hated how much disrespect Demon's Souls gets. It's personally one of my favorite games in the series. Yeah the bosses are easy but bosses are about way more than just being hard. I wanted to really have an equal balance on all aspects of a fight because it all plays a role. I find a lot of Demons Souls bosses to be charming. Old Hero being a perfect example as you said. It's not hard but it's really interesting. And honestly that can be worth a lot more to me than just being a tough fight. Thank you for watching my video!

Glad you enjoyed it! Me having unusual takes, like actually liking Aldia and Oceiros, was one of the reasons I wanted to make this. Almost every other list I've seen just says that easy bosses are bad. I wanted to share my feelings. And the lore segments were so much fun to make! But they're longer and take a lot more time to write and edit so I limited it to stories I really wanted to tell. I think it ended up working out and keeps the video flowing better than if I did lore for all of them. Thank you for watching!

For a first "fully produced video" as you said at the end of the video, the quality is amazing. The commentary, voice quality, edit, lore backgrounds, gameplay clips and the list itself which I mostly agree with. Bro. this video was amazing in quality. I subbed so I can say that I was here early before the channel blew up. One tidbit Id like to add here (which many know but many also dont) is that the arm Artorias lost saving Sif, the one that is already crushed when we fight him, is his dominant arm (i.e, his sword wielding arm), he is fighting us with his sword in his non-dominant hand. It would be like trying to write with your left hand as a right-handed person.....and he is still one of the most challenging fights in DS1. If his arm was functional we would stand absolutely no chance.

For some reason I found bellfry gargoyles to be a better version of the bell gargoyles in Dark souls 1 tbh. Also I loved Twin Dragonriders because it just makes sense in my mind for a queen to have two (lore wise) highly skilled knights as her guards, ik as a boss it may not be the best fight but in my opinion it heavily adds to the atmosphere of Dark Souls 2, and is a much better fight than the first dragonrider! What would’ve been really awesome is if one of the dragon riders was actually riding a dragon though.

Great video and a solid Tier list! Of course there are some placements I don't agree with (such is the nature of subjectivity), but what offended me more than it should have is Gwyndolin's placement, especially with runbacks taken into consideration :D The music and lore are great, the fight however is a bit lacking but not bad by any means and the runback is absolutely ABYSMAL (I died more often than I want to admit). To this day I do not understand why respawning at the bonfire right in front of the fog door doesn't work. You have to restart from the first bonfire up top, you always have to cross the rafters in the room with the painting guardians again since you have to lower the bridge to get to Gwyndolin and it doesn't reset on death. I now know you can warp to the bonfire or use the dark sigil to return to it after you died, but warping to it requires you to return to Sen's Fortress if you killed the Fire Keeper (and chances are you have, as she is hostile after the darkening and right in front of the cathedral). I obviously did not know about both of these methods on my first playthrough and it soured the experience which would otherwise be great through atmosphere, lore and music alone. This is, once again, of course just my subjective opinion and the Tier List and the video as a whole are absolutely wonderful. One can clearly see (or rather, hear) your enthusiasm for the games and I really like how you took enough time to really explain what you liked or didn't like about a certain boss. That's quite a feat considering just how many bosses there are.
@SensDen
@SensDen 11 ай бұрын
I'm glad you enjoyed the video! I put a ton of effort into this and really tried to explain why I have the opinions I do on so many of these bosses. Which like you said was quite a lot just from the scale of this whole thing. Disagreements are expected because we're all looking through our own experiences. Which brings me to your points on Gwyndolin... I do not think I've ever died to them so I've never had to deal with the runback. I honestly completely forgot about it because it's just not something I've personally dealt with so it didn't even cross my mind while making my list. My experience didn't include that rather miserable sounding experience so it didn't get factored in at all. Maybe an oversight on my part but oh well I guess. Anyway thank you for watching! I'm glad you enjoyed this massive love letter I made to these games!

@@SensDen Thanks for your response! I don‘t think it’s an oversight at all though; If you didn’t die fighting him, that’s just an experience you (thankfully) didn’t have and that’s completely normal! I can’t expect you to judge something that you haven’t experienced or you don’t know about. For most people - not including me - Gwyndolin is a fight on the easier side of things, as such the runback being the way it is isn’t too bad at all. I disagree with a lot of the picks here but obviously opinions differ and you explained your choices very well. I'm pretty sure you were there the day I decided to make this video. It was during one of his streams back around Halloween 2021 and I randomly decided I was going to make this video. And then I kept talking about my progress here and there. It really is surreal to me that it's finally out. I'm expecting a ton of my picks to be controversial but that's part of the fun. I had to stay truthful to myself no matter how crazy it might seem. I remember thinking how crazy my rankings of True King Allant and Aldia were but it's just how I feel about them. I bet Ludwig is going to be too low for most people. But I think it's good to have opinions different from others. And it honestly stopped being a ranking video after a while and was just my excuse to talk about all these bosses that I love (or hate). Not sure what I'm going to do next but I'm glad to have you aboard. Not sure how long it'll be. Just kinda enjoying the feeling of completing this one. Also messing around with rebranding my channel to better position it for making whatever content I feel like making. Thanks for watching and commenting as always! I'm glad that I finally made this happen and that I have people that are willing to listen to me talk for 4+ hours. I put a ridiculous amount of work into this so I'm really happy to see people enjoying it. It was pretty hard for me to tell if the final product would actually be any good but I'm getting positive feedback so far. I have no idea how you managed to talk about this many bosses and still manage to make every single entry so interesting, as someone who has only played ER, DS1, DS3 and Sekiro I'm biased towards the bosses in those games except for Friede who I personally believe is a highly overrated boss in a game with amazing bosses, I especially love how you rated Lothric and Lorian so highly those two are like one of my favourite bosses ever. It's crazy that this is your first big project ever I would easily watch another 4 hour video if you made one, your voice, vocabulary and just overall cadence kept me watching, you would think a video like this would become repetetive after a while but every entry truly felt special and stood out. I can confidentially say, that I respect every placement on this list! (I sadly can't really speak for Bloodborne or Demon Souls, cause I haven't played them myself, but I've watched playthroughs, so that I could at least form some kind of opinion on a few of their bosses.) I also really liked your explanation for the placements! For example: I would have placed Iudex Gundyr way higher, but I completely understood the difficulty for beginners after your explanation. And also mad respect for your dedication on this video! 21 months... glad you didn't go hollow during the production!

That's exactly what I want to hear! I know people will have disagreements but I did my best to explain why I have the opinions that I do. Sparking discussions on the disagreements is one of the most fun things about this kind of list. It was a lot but I did whatever I could to keep going. It's funny how similar my story of making this video ended up being to actually playing the games. Thank you for watching my video!

This was a incredible video! Oh and also if you're wondering the reason why Oceiros is talking about Oceolotte is because there is a model for the baby except they probably removed the baby because well... seeing a baby get smadhed into the ground is distubing plus in the game files you can hear the sounds of Oceolotte in the game files too and there is one sound that the baby makes when Ocerios crushes it. That also explains why it looks like Ocerios is holding something even though he isn't. If you wanna see Ocerios with Oceolotte, you can search up Oceiros with Oceolotte as there are videos of people showing off Ocerios with him holding Oceolotte.

@@SensDen to be clear, you weren't using the unpatched console disc version right? It has a lot of different enemies than 1.01 and onward, like ditching the Envoys altogether, having stone imps in their stead, and having exiled and banished knights around the Fortified Manor. I somewhat recently went through the place at RL1 and it remains my favorite area in all of gaming. They somehow meshed the feeling of open exploration with a Souls dungeon and it worked. Knight enemies are From Soft's specialty, and they're on full display here. The room with pages and perfumers can be annoying, but the game gives you so many tools to separate enemies and lets you get around that spot entirely. I don't think I can properly summarize my love of Leyndell in just this comment, so I won't. BBQcheese is absolutely correct about the Mountaintops being a letdown. They definitely have their good parts, with maybe 3/4 of its side content being solid to great (Vyke Evergaol, both tombs, Spiritcaller Cave, Castle Sol, and reuniting Aurelia with her sister), and the reveal of how the Erdtree society only took hold through a genocide of the Giants is shown very nicely. The Erdtree Avatar duo is pretty good, especially since they share the same health pool. It should've been the sendoff to the boss, with the ones in Snowfield and Elphael being reskins of the Taurus Demon, but nah they have to push the poor boss firmly into being overused. In retrospect, the Zamor Ruins grind my gears the most. Instead of showcasing a unique society which allied with Marika against the Giants, it's just the same old ruins with a boss complexity enemy copy-pasted 6-8 times out in the open. The Fire Monks were the other big letdown, with their fort just having a bunch of them spammed outside with just some NPC type enemies inside, no unique boss. And it goes without saying but an entire open world area having "Fire Prelate with Whip" and "Erdtree Burial Watchdog with Frost" as its only new enemies is what made the place the letdown it was. Snowfield does slightly better in that regard with the Albinauric Archers.

@@BBQcheese Oops sorry this comment got lost for me. Trying to respond to everything but there's been a lot today. I know people love Leyndell and that's awesome. One thing that always bothered me with DS2 is how until its DLCs, the 32 starting bosses are so mechanically mediocre that only a handful of them even compare to the DLC bosses of DS1. Of course, I'm not asking for every DS2 boss to be Artorias, but it's been 2-3 years between that DLC and DS2, yet the vast, VAST majority of bosses barely feel better than what DS1 had to offer. It's just sad, especially when you know the progress From made between each other game.

@@SensDenBy the way, there is a very interesting parallel I can make between Burnt Ivory King and Demon of Hatred, which is why I would have put them much closer together. Now yes, DoH is a much more refined fight but both of these bosses share one critical weakness. They overstay their welcome. Yes, fighting the charred Loyce knights and sealing the portals is hecking cool and the entrance of the king himself is grandiose. In the same vein, dodging the massive flame attacks, the swipes, the trails... Of the demon is awesome, but only for like 3 fights. If you can't get it done, afterwards it gets more and more tedious until you succeed and half the enjoyment has worn off which is a total bummer. And a final note I promise, while I probably wouldn't grant Artorias the top 2, I have to give him credit for standing the test of time. That boss was made in 2011 I reckon, yet the complexity of his moveset and his aggressivity honestly wouldn't be that out of place in 2016 DS3. Even if I think more highly of other bosses, Artorias will forever be the quintessential boss of the Souls series, a monument in gaming history.
@SensDen

Sorry some of these replies get lost. KZbin doesn't notify me if them sometimes. The point about Demon of Hatred and Burnt Ivory King is very true. I think that really is a big problem for both of them. They are just more annoying the more you do them. I think that's what makes Artorias so special to me. I fought this boss for the first time in 2020 and I thought he was the best boss I'd ever fought at the time. And I had already played through all of Sekiro. He really does feel so ahead of his time. I also think he's just so damn cool and the story is amazing. Absolutely deserves his status, as you so aptly put it, as a moment in gaming history.
