I’m gonna be one of those guys. I looove the next generation! It’s meant to be a spoof-esque remake of the original. Almost like a cabin in the woods type plot… It has whacky characters and a great lengthy chase scene! Plus, it’s the only other TCM film aside from the original where Leatherface actually portrays the persona of whatever face he’s wearing. You have to like stupid, campy, low budget films to enjoy it, but I think it gets far too much hate because it’s compared to all of the other, darker versions.

Yeah I totally get the appeal and I'm glad it has its fans. I just prefer the tone and direction of the original film personally when it comes to this franchise over the spoof-esque silliness lol

Interesting ranking....for me.. 2003 The beginning Part 3 1974 Leatherface 3D 2022 Part 2 Next Generation ugh. I have the "unrated" cut of 3 but I think alot was still left out.

Just picked up the OG and Next Gen to finish off the franchise in my collection. I really don't have any of them I dislike n(well unless including the NetF one which is an abomination and doesn't exist to me...lol), Next Gen is so over the top but I watch it specifically for that so still enjoy it. I'm not as hyped for the OG as most but still love it. Don't know why none of them really bother me but I enjoy each one for what it is. Would be very hard for me to tier them, I may could rank them 1-9 but they'd all land in "good time" for me.

Goodness. This is a rough franchise for me. I only enjoy the OG and the remake. Everything else is meh or just gross. My ranking is: 1.) The Texas Chain Saw Massacre OG 2.) Easily the worst of the big 3 (4?) horror icon series. IMO, unlike the other big horror icons, this one is actually not about just Leatherface but about the entire family which makes it unique and even more difficult to get right as can be seen with the fact that they only got it right 4 times (original 2 and the Michael Bay produced remake and prequel). Such a shame that this series is now basically a direct-to-dvd/streaming series.

"Spoiler" Warning: they are all terrible, every single one, except for the ones Tobe Hooper directed. So. 7 bad films. 2 good ones. And... this is coming from someone who thinks there is only 1 bad _Child's Play_ film. (Not the one you're thinking. Not Seed of Chucky or the remake. Not _Child's Play 3_ and not Bride of Chucky. Keep guessing.)

​@@themovieranker Nope. I'll give you a hint = people actually like it but an entire book can be written about everything that's wrong with it. And it has by far one of the worst death scenes in horror history. And it does Not involve a secret Nanny affair subplot. Does not involve that. Oh... and it does NOT feature any of the cast of _Grease_ in it. No cast members from _Grease_ co-star in it.
