The fact that the concept of an ultra shortcut is such an obvious bug with the "three checkpoints loaded at once" approach, and how the developers clearly made it difficult (but possible on some tracks) to get behind the last key checkpoint, makes me think that some troll employee did this all on purpose. Or, Nintendo was just kind of interested in people finding glitches. I mean didn't they keep glitch times on the leaderboards? The concept wouldn't be that weird for the time, since many games included difficult to find easter eggs and cheat codes. The flaw in the checkpoint system would just be too obvious to any decent coder, right?

Great video! You can see how much effort you put into it. One little thing: there is a slightly easier method for the DKJP glitch, where you clip off one of the signs pointing you around the first turn instead of clipping off the tree. It's probably not enough to change its position in the ranking, but still.

for warios gold mine, theres shroomless ulta shortcuts that you can do twice after using shrooms. they're considerably harder cause you have to angle yourself dam near straight up on the halfpipe, trick, drift right, wheelie right off the cliff before the goalpost "landing" to the right of the green pipe

For the maple treeway glitch 2nd phase, if you start leaning back in midair right before you go through the cliff thing (after you go through the ground by the plant thing), it makes the 2nd phase of this glitch the easiest. Use your second mushroom right as you start leaning back.

Did you know that the Wario's Gold Mine Ultra can be done pipeless? This is because the game keeps track height when you hit the oob area. Too low, and you will get a bad respawn.

Honestly would’ve finished helping with the docs. But was quite stressed out with school and it’s finally over. Happy that this is uploaded though. Wished I could’ve gave more info. As I do know a bit about glitches here. Funny how dkjp is so low. And peach beach is higher. The sherbet land glitch is also quite overrated if I would say so myself. It’s just clipping a sub pixel pole. It’s not too bad to do once. Shane did a great job explaining most of this. And how difficult these are. Not that I agree with some. But among the top 4 they are all extremely difficult and correct. Amazing video.

You don't have to bounce back on waluigi stadium. The lap will still count if you just land over there instead of bouncing back and it still skips a key checkpoint making it much easier and in my opinion, about as hard as peach beach.

Amazing video, I didn't know all the insught about the difficulty of certain glitches 👏 Unpopular opinion: the WGM ultra is easier than the GV ultra. Here me out: landing on the rock from the ramp shroomless is kinda tricky for a beginner, you have to get enough distance with the correct alignment and manage your air movements correctly; on the other hand, for the WGM ultra you don't need to time a spin hop, you can just shroom and wheelie, the difficulty here for a beginner is mainly to avoid trigger the last CP when leaving the road; the thing is, you don't even need to land on the pipe for the ultra to work, there's a region to the right of it where if you just die there it still works as normal. Tbh, if I have to do one of them first try rn, provided that I can take my time to allign, I'd have a much higher chance of landing the WGM ultra (and tbh I spent more time improving my GV one, even though with the fast entry). But that's my personal opinion, I can see others having a different. That said, I only pulled off the first 5 ultras on the list (I did land the MC ultra a couple of times), so idk that much about the difficulty of other ultras, but honestly I was expecting MT to be much lower on the list, since it doesn't include any wallclip it looked to me not too hard compared to the others; on the other hand, I thought GV2 was much harder, the collision of the blocks at the start has always looked to me pretty junky when attempting it for fun (with no success whatsoever 😂). Also, a couple of notes: the difficulty for the RR ultra is also in the fact that you need to get very much air on the spin drift in order to land back inside the KCP0 before leaving the road: there have been few attempts before the successful one that landed to the other side, but the lap didn't count because of this. Also for the KC ultra, if you don't know, the horizontal wall you hit is the top block at the bottom of the finish line pole: that wall isn't small, the thing is that the part of the wall that sticks out of the invisible wall is insanely tiny. Last note: one day, every track will have a glitch... besides MC3, that dumb track has no low invisible walls, no horizontal walls, nothing... our only hope is an insanely game warping glitch that let's us drive through walls with super weird conditions or something along those lines... which would still most likely be TAS only... or maybe not 🙂

For the GV ultra, you can just drive around the track normally and use a mushroom there at the end of lap 1 instead, which is easier than the SSMT

peach beach is much easier if you stop and align, and you still save a lot of time. i'm not even great at glitches but i made a 2/3 run which was like top 50 and that took about the same amount of time as getting sherbet land once. way easier than dkjp too and honestly i find gv2 way harder than maple treeway (1/3 flame runner) maybe harder than peach beach for actually getting a faster 3 lap time because it saves such a small amount of time and you need to set up so fast. i still dont have a 3 lap time with it

I’m using this as a kind of guide for which shortcuts to learn first and had a question about mushroom gorge. All of the stuff I’ve seen say hold the joystick to the right when on the wall after gaining height, but you said left. Why is Ghost valley considered an ultra shortcut? By your explanation I would expect it to be just a regular glitch because it does not boost you right in front of the starting line and to the last keycheckpoint (which is also why toads factory isnt included). Or are there only 2 keycheckpoints on this track and you therefor do in fact clip to the last keycheckpoint of the track?

You still skip a key checkpoint on gv2, so it’s an ultra. Also the toads factory glitch doesn’t skip any key checkpoints.

bro I quit I’ve worked day in and day out and I still cannot figure out Mario kart Wii I can’t even do the grumble volcano ultra can’t even begin with mushroom gorge and the warios gold mine ultra seems impossible to even begin with also to explain I’m always missing the rock on grumble always missing the first mushroom on mushroom gorge and I don’t get anymore close to hitting the green pipe on warios gold mine also I use Wii remote and nunchuck with flame runner and since I don’t have funky Kong I figured donkey Kong would be the next best thing so I also use him

On grumble volcano, try and go as far left as possible off the ramp, and as far back so you build up enough speed. On wario’ gold mine, make sure you hop to get extra height
