In my opinion, Burger King deserves more credit for their fries in general. Although they don’t match up taste-wise to other fries by any means (they taste okay), their crunchy texture makes them enjoyable to eat. For me, the overall experience of eating a fry is what matters, not just the taste.

Yeah you're right about Five Guys. Five Guys actually order in potatoes to chop up on the premises and they are more consistent with getting them perfectly cooked crispy every time. McDonalds just cook frozen pre prepared fires that include 19 different chemical ingredients and sometimes they aren't even cooked crispy... it blows my mind how anyone could think McDonalds fries are at all good.

I'm honestly surprised that McDonald's fries are #1. I work at a McDonald's & frankly, I personally prefer Burger King French fries 😂🤣 Our fries are just too salty for my liking... I can only handle our fries if it's either no salt or "light salt" (which my version of "light salt" is to just sprinkle a tiny bit of salt on the paddle & just use whatever salt is already in the French fry bin... & it's "perfect" for my liking 😁

I'm retired now, but I used to work for a company that has fry plants and other appetizer plants all around the world. We supplied a large percentage pf McDonald's fries. Companies that big have their own recipe(s) and if they don't meet their quality standards they will go to other providers. You don't want to lose them as a customer. Smaller companies or restaurants just buy them off the shelf without their own recipe to save on cost. All are parrfried, which is essential to getting a crispy fry, or generally any fried product. No excuse for getting a limp fry.

Good list. I disagree with the Dairy Queen fries though. I really like theirs. Certainly not my favorite, but they are good.

My list: 1. McDonald's (Perfect size to me, and the crispiness doesn't take away from the flavor. (However, my near location has a habit of overcooking them, and that makes most flavor go away.)) 2. Sheetz (Not technically fast food and its a mid atlantic only thing, but they use the McDonald's formula of what a fry should be, and very nicely (though they tend to get soggy kinda quickly.)) 3. Arby's (Unique to have curly fries, and they just have some kind of kick to them that really boosts them. 4. Popeye's (Arby's fries minus the curl.) 5. Chick Fil A (Their weird shape does take away some taste, but never enough to be a completely noticeable problem. 6. Hardee's (Pretty middle of the line to me as fries go. Kinda mediocre.) 7. Burger King (Not a fan of the giant fatty fries, but they still have some taste to them.) 8. Wendy's (Not sure if this is just my location or if it happens elsewhere, but they are almost always soggy when I get them. The rest I either haven't tried yet (Five Guys / Taco Bell) or they just aren't in my area (pretty much the rest of these.)

McDonalds had been adding a substance to their fryer to reduce foaming. that substance, I read, is used in making styrafoam cups. Read about it several years ago.don't know if true or not.

THANK YOU! Chick-fil-A fries are so overrated. But McDonald's are NOT the best.
