It’s interesting how environments shape our tastes. The top half of the list is heavier with western foods and the bottom has more of the asiatic dishes, which for most people in the west, are unfamiliar dishes therefore aren’t liked as much. I’d argue that many of the foods put in the lower tiers are definitely more flavourful then some of the foods in the top tier. But I understand that this list is simply personal preference, it’s just interesting to me how some people are put off by certain foods simply because it’s unfamiliar to them, I see where they’re coming from but personally I love a bit of everything and I’m not really picky haha

my thoughts exactly! as someone who grew up around very asian cuisine, I’m familiar with pretty much all of the dishes in genshin impact, so it’s interesting to hear from someone who has never eaten unagi, or dango, or almond tofu etc.

Tbh I’m very picky and because a lot of Genshin’s dishes are seafood I’m a little put off. I’d definitely try everything given to me but I don’t believe I would like it. I would suffer in Liyue and Inazuma tbh when it comes to eating

I’m taking a sociology class! I actually just wrapped up on culture! Food is a huge factor when it comes to culture! More western people usually eat western dishes because they’re more familiar with it, after all, it’s usually what their parents made too. It’s how these clear patterns were made. There are obviously exceptions, like I’m from the US and love Japanese cuisine while my mother doesn’t even know what color tofu is, but typically it’s because of what we’re used to. So my conclusion is that Koomaxx is probably from the US in a state that isn’t surrounded by water with parents who were both in that kind of area. Food tells a lot about that sort of thing.

The “more and more” is actually based on a Japanese dish called Okonomiyaki! I definitely recommend trying it :) it’s basically a savory cabbage pancake (it is typically made with dashi, which is a fish broth, but you cannot taste it much in the final product and, frankly, you can sub it out for chicken broth or water)

I feel like a lot of the genshin dishes just look really strange/bad but they're actually pretty good in real life. Like at first I thought the mint salad had too much mint, but the actual dish has a bunch of other salad ingredients and a really nice sauce. It was the same sort of situation when I made the minty meat rolls because it's basically just the mint salad rolled up in flash fried pieces of beef and drowned in sauce which really takes a bunch of the minty taste away.

The grilled fish that looks too much like a fish doesn't look as creepy as when Keqing makes it. When she does it looks WAY too much like a fish. Also, the paw-print hash-browns is only when Razor makes it. You should do a tier list based on the character's versions of these dishes.

I actually tried a 'sumeru' dish today by sheer coincidence! My sister made some Indian foods today and the main dish was butter chicken. It was very aromatic. Would recommend. Never had Indian food until today. Wasn't disappointed! Guess Sumeru food is as good as it looks lol

oh almond tofu isnt real tofu! its called that bc it imitates the texture of tofu, but its not real tofu! just milk sugar and almond, and other ingredients. i found this out the hard way when I bought one hundred tofu everyday from the general store in inazuma to make almond tofu but then. that wasn't one of the ingredients 😔
