Actually, looking at it...I'm not sure Forces Green Hill actually uses any assets from Generations Green Hill. The assets all look completely different and original from Gens's ones, and the artstyle is completely different. If anything it looks like it might get more things from Lost World than Gens. That doesn't mean that it looks GOOD, because it doesn't, but it still looks like it's original and not Gens assets. Frontiers Cyberspace on the other hand straight-up just uses the copy-pasted Gens assets, that one is very obvious.

I feel like the reason you didn't like the grass in Generations is that it's flat there. In Colours, you had grass on the ground, those probably 2D planes facing a certain direction, while in Generations, it's just pw_grass.png textured on the ground. I have to say though, this video made me appreciate just how cool grass can look

the grass in Sonic CD is absolutely a stylistic choice. also green hill in Forces uses a lot of unique assets. some are definitely ported from Generations but the grass is fully new.

so a bit off-topic but I was a colors defender my whole life. Until I got to play the wii version. (I played the ds emulated version when I was younger and I loved it, was my main reason I got a ds this year). After finishing over half the game, man I just couldn't glaze the game anymore, generations kept its first place in my heart. (probably still does btw so hyped for shadow gens) after getting to play colors ds last month for the first time ON a ds man my disappointment became so much greater with the wii version the ds is peak. That was all until yesterday when I finally experienced the beloved unleashed hd for the first time. (again I played unwiished this year first and it was alright except for the atrocious loading times giving 06 vibes) man having it run on an xbox one x at 30fps while forces runs at 60 was insane, yeah ik about the fps boost on series x but $500 jeez. (only unlocked spagonia btw so im still excited to finish the game but the performance is tragic) anyway this video made me realize that damn, colors was peak all along(all it took was grass yea) and I just took sonic twitter's word for it. I gotta finish it. or just stick to the first stage cause that's the best one😎 tl;dr this video helped me realize I wasn't actually glazing colors delusionally but rather absolutely fairly and it's AMAZING also thanks for the grass video I don't think I've ever enjoyed watching a sonic ranking as much as this one keep em coming👍👍 maybe you should rank riders extreme gear next or something idk I'd love it (I'm a total sucker for riders it was my first 3d sonic game and I STILL own a physical pc copy, and I'm salty free riders killed the series, also had black knight too but sold it to get said xbox one x lol)

Oh I know adventure on the Dreamcast looks better, but that’s mainly the lighting and the characters looking like plastic, not the textures or stage models. And since those are my issues I still do stand by my ranking regardless of the version.

@@GDubA I'm pretty sure the textures did take a hit, even though I'm not sure if that specific grass did that much, but I do know that the mystic ruins at least definitely looks worse so there's that (maybe that's due to the "lighting" and not the textures actually so you might be right) Sorry about that anyway, It's a good video, I just have a reaction to seeing DX footage when it could be DC, and it was even worse because you were talking about graphics, lol.
