Pretty much. As long as there are QBs throwing for 4,000+ yards and 40 tds, or throwing for 3,000 while rushing for 1,000 with 40 or more combined tds, I doubt a pure defensive players is going to come remotely close to a Heisman. Not to mention there seems to be a sort of eastern bias in regards to Heisman winners. Mariota is the only one I can readily think of from recent years that came from a school west of the Mississippi that wasn't in Oklahoma, Texas, or California.

This just shows how big the transition from college to pro can be. You see most great college players running and dotting up defenses (I’m specifically talking about QB’s). When they get into the pro’s people get faster, and now they’re getting tackled, hit, and injured, which can end their career early.

Has moments where he looks good, mostly pretty meh 15 - Henry. Pretty solid RB thus far 16 - Lamar. Promising start to his career. 17 - Baker. Stud rookie season. 18 - Kyler. Troy Smith against Michigan State the heisman year, the one play on like the 8 going in, the left side of the pocket collapses, straight shakes the defender pumps and throws a dart into the back of the end zone for the TD. I never saw anything like it before. I mean I have seen people try, but never do it so perfectly, like he had eyes in the back of his head, similar to the Manziel play minus the fumble. I grew up a USC fan so 3 of my guys are on here, but that is the play that I will remember my entire life out of all these guys, and maybe the Reggie Bush cutback against Fresno state.

While I don't think the outcome for Troy Smith would have been drastically different, the video characterizes his tenure in Baltimore as [paraphase]: "They drafted Joe Flacco the next season, thus Smith was eliminated from the Ravens' future plans." Actually, Troy Smith was supposed to be the starter in the 2008 season, but could not post in the preseason due to a "mystery illness". Since Flacco essentially played the whole preseason, they kept rolling with him. Smith was involved in wildcat packages, but that was about it.
