I own the Skydweller Blue 💪🏽 but wear it like a Seiko SKX, don’t care about value retention the more it scratch the more I know I’ll keep!

I just wanted to take a moment to say how amazing your video was! I was really impressed with the quality of the footage, the editing, and the overall presentation. You did a great job of explaining the topic in a clear and concise way, and I learned a lot from watching your video. I also really appreciated the way you made the video engaging and entertaining. You kept my attention throughout the entire video, and I never felt bored or lost. I would definitely recommend your video to anyone who is interested in learning more about the video.

Great video and graphic presentation! Next time, please kindly also include the IWC Portugieser 41mm two register Chronograph reference 3716 in the group of iconic watches.

I am a value buyer and love WC’s rankings based on actual up to date prices. I also appreciate you doing it by brand. It makes the video easier to follow.

I would make one minor correction. There are still many "older' Rolex models still being sold to date, so I would not discount the fact that some people out there may still have the option to purchase said 'discontinued' watches at MSRP.

Do you have any time series data on durability or longevity of value retention? The Pateks perform very well. Can the data tell you whether a buyer can pay these premiums in today's market and still expect strong value retention in 3/5/10+ years out? I'm interested in this because I'm on the verge of acquiring a Nautilus and better understanding the long term value proposition will help me make my decision.

You can get access to 5 years of historical secondary market prices on our website through the WatchCharts Professional membership. However, I wouldn't necessarily feel confident using that data to make a 10 year projection. The last few years have shown that the watch market can be incredibly volatile and susceptible to hype/trends.

@@WatchCharts Thanks. Agreed. I'm interested in data that precedes the most recent cycle so I can see how Patek and Rolex performed in down markets. Do you know where I can access older data? I'd say the market really starting to take off starting in 2018 so having anything older would be illuminating. Thanks again.

Surprised that you didn't mention the Blancpain dual-time models, or the other JLC's with a worldtime function.

moral of the story, these watches are overpriced at retail to begin with

Value retention when sold to grey market dealers would be interesting. How much 'cash' can I make compared to Ebay and Chrono24 (extra costs even here).

I literally could watch watch charts information instead of just about every other KZbin watch channel out there. I wish there was a way they could provide some real world analysis on actual sales price versus listing price, understanding that the listing price is what they base there research on.

With several recent price rises, the Reverso Duoface will seem to depreciate worse but the models for sale preowned will have been bought at a lower price. I could make a profit on what I paid for mine 2 years ago after wearing it for 2 years

What surprises me most about this list is how little the value retention relates to the desirability of the watches. I make an exception for the Rolex Pepsi, which I love, but otherwise, most of my favourites are massive losers on the grey market... which is excellent news.

Lol, put the 126713GRNR at S level even though the % put it in A level. It’s a winner though 😂

These no point using Rolex RRP as a guide when none of us can get the watch at RRP.
@biohazard99 Жыл бұрын
Of course you had to put your GMT GRNR in the S category, even though it only had 33% retention.. 😂 😂

The video description at the time of publishing included this correction: "Two watches were placed incorrectly in the tier list screen recording: the Sky-Dweller ref. 326394 should have been placed in the S tier, and the GMT-Master II ref. 126713GRNR should have been placed in the A tier. The data is correct for both watches, just the screen recording beyond the 14:18 timestamp shows the two watches visually categorized incorrectly. The error is regretted."

While I like and appreciate these videos, you need to adjust how you display value retention. If a watch retails for 10k and goes for 15k on the market, to say the value retention is 50% is INCORRECT. This would imply the market price is 5k. Rather, it should be 150%, given the market price is 150% of the retail price. OR, if you want to display the difference between market and retail pricing, one could display as ROI/gross margin.
