Here to back up this comment. The Bandit & Snowman in the 70’s wouldn’t be caught drinking light beer. Also, true that they didn’t ship east of the Mississippi due to wanting the beer to be “fresh” and not lead to bitter beer face like when you drink those IPAs.

Texan here. I've run into bad batches of Shiner Bock before. My most recent find is Tejas Clara and Tejas Negra. They're full-flavored and easy drinking. I get both so I can switch between the two in order to avoid getting tired of beer.

I went to UT Austin and shiner was my go to, but I really do think on some days they were drinking a bit too much of the product when brewing.

The problem with Yuengling is that outside of Pennsylvania and now Florida, it's difficult to get fresh. The first fresh draft Yuengling I drank was at a Red Robin (a lot of volume, no stale beers left in the lines overnight) in Pottstown was EXCELLENT. I think they need to study how Coors expanded across the country in the 70s, all from a single brewery in Golden. They used dedicated refrigerated tanker trucks and high quality control at the receiving end.

Texan here. I've run into off tasting Yuengling before in bottles. (tastes like chemicals) Now that Yuengling is brewed at Miller-Coors in Ft. Worth I've never had a bad can or bottle of Yuengling.

Never had an issue in Virginia, Carolinas or Georgia finding Yuengling, at least base, light or flight. Black and tan, porter, ale are all harder to find but the regulars all over

In St. Petersburg, Florida in my late 20s, early 30s, a bunch of us would go pool hoping at each other's homes, some had ingrounders, others above grounders. It was our first home, most were modest. The Southern folks had Budweiser, Old Milwaukee, and PBR. The Midwestern Michigan Yankees has Stohs and the Chicagoland folks had Old Style. We would grill, swim, drink, night fish, etc. So much fun, so many great memories. I miss those days. Everyone got along!🇺🇸

I lived on the border for 10 years and Black Label is the only beer you could buy cheaper in the states than crossing over and buying beer. It's the beer that was at the bottom layer of the cooler that you drank when you were so drunk it didn't matter what it tasted like 😂

Believe it or not - in college we did a marketing blind test taste of beer. We had Michelob and Heineken and Molson at the top, Miller and Bud in the middle, and Carling's Black Label, PBR, and Generic (yes - they actually had generic beer in 1983). What we discovered was... if you drink it ice cooler cold at 40 degrees, you can't tell the difference in the good from the bad. If you drink it conversational cold at about 46 degrees - you CAN tell the difference and the better quality beers won out in taste. Lesson: If you're playing softball and chugging - it don't matter what you buy - so load up on PBR and Keystone.

Up here in Michigan in the country I drank a ton of Old Milwaukee Light back when I was young. Now if I go for a light beer it is usually and Ultra and once in a while a Coors. I used to be a big Michelob Light guy until the phased it out to make way for Ultra, but Light was better.

Athletic IPA is really good! I like Lagunita NA too. They have a good flavor and I do the same - I keep pace with those and feel a heck of a lot better the next morning 😂😂. I’m glad there are so many NA options now that do have a good taste

Another good time for a Bud Light... I was on a contract in Chicago and had to stay in a Homewood Suites for about 4 months. Every afternoon/evening, they had a "happy hour", where they had free Bud Light and wine that was a half step above box wine. FREE beer is always better.

I was in Ashland, Alabama during the Blizzard of’93! We got 12 inches of snow. (Yes I do know that’s a foot). My husband and I were teachers, and school was out for two weeks ‼️. Power and water outages. Plus impassable roads in shady mountain areas. We were blessed. We lived between the water treatment plant and the hospital. Our power came back on at 4 AM. (Very small town) Teachers love snow days as much as kids. Especially when sometimes it doesn’t snow for over a year 😅

The correct ranking is Miller Lite, Coors Lite, and Bud Light if hell freezes over. Miller has the most flavor of the light beers. Bud light is too sweet

As an old guy from southeastern Ohio, the ones i remember people drinking were Old Milwaukee (regular and light), PBR, and Schlitz. Oh, and the white can with Beer in black letters (generic i guess). And yes, getting that last bit when you're between 4 - 8 or so. 😂 Love your content Matt!

A chick told me this. And at least at the time it was true. Michelob Ultra has the least calories per amount of alcohol of any beer. So she could keep her trim figure and drink beer. Of course wine is much better than beer on such a metric.

I'm 45, and have been drinking Bud Light since I was 21. Had to buy some Coor's Light for a family get together, since my wife's aunt loved that one, and gave it a try. So glad I did, because I kinda bounce between the two. Coor's for some reason hits me a little harder in the alcohol department, and I know that sounds weird coming from a freak'n light beer.

Growing up in the 80's all my aunt's and uncles drank Coors light. And it must genetic because I've been drinking it as well for close to 30 years. And so do my cousins. It's weird because we all know it's not a good beer. There's plenty of other beers we like more. But it's still our brand of choice.

I also drank Budweiser at a young age. It was my 'tip' for fetching my daddy a beer from the fridge and opening it so he didn't have to worry about where to put the pull tab. Bud Lite tastes like football, and you can't convince me otherwise.

Yuengling makes a light, they also make an ultra called Flight. Not as good as fully leaded Yuengling, but pretty good.

Same for me. I started with light beer, but now, im drinking stouts, porters, IPA's, gose's, ect. There is a brewery close to me that made a Lucky Charms IPA, and one down the street from that which makes beers with ingredients like oysters and crickets.

Coors is just a good beer overall. Coors Light is okay, it's what pretty much all the bars have, and it's what I use to make my beer chili every autumn, but Coors Banquet is my favorite beer to drink in general.
