@Crimson_Knight- C418 and lena raine have very different music styles in minecraft. C418's soundtrack heavily suits emptier, older minecraft, while lena raine's soundtrack is a lot more fitting for newer minecraft which is a lot less desolate. i think both soundtracks help to create two very different atmospheres. and the direction mojang wanted to go with minecraft was to make it more lively, because thats really the only way forward. you update a game by adding more stuff to it, meaning the old music doesnt fit as well as it did. i think people look at C418's music and old minecraft through rose tinted glasses, because while yeah his music is definitely great, but old minecraft is just objectively worse and the only thing going for it is the nostalgia value. this leads to people going "grrr i hate the new music c418 was better!!!!" because theyre fueled by nostalgia youre allowed to have preferences, but bringing up a comparison like that out of nowhere is pretty direspectful and uncalled for

The copper thing with the Creator discs is because the oxidized one can be see as the original, and the new and shiny one is the music box version since music boxes are known to be imitations of existing melodies/tunes. That can also explain why they are two separate discs instead of being just one, since the brown one is new and made to be an imitation, while the green one is old and untouched, hence the oxidization.

Creator is 100% the best disc now. Also, if you view the oxidization of copper in terms of progression, then creator is the fully progressed version, so it makes more sense for it to be the disc that is oxidized green rather than the virgin orange copper color.

I know Dog isn't in the game anymore (never was supposed to be but it was after Cat on legacy console) but I would place it in my number one. My top 5 is as follows 5. Pigstep - a bit overrated, but good, partly due to Alan Becker. 4. Mellohi - I love the moody atmosphere and ominous vibes (also Alan Becker used it, Chirp and Pigstep which is why I remember them so fondly) 3. Chirp - Again, this is due to Alan Becker. 2. Creator - Hadn't listened to it before this, so hearing it jumpscared me right into putting it in second place 1. Dog - I know this disc isn't in the game and is just a soundtrack bonus and was never meant to make it into Legacy or any version, but GOODNESS it's just SO GOOD That being said, I'd probably listen to Chirp in game MORE, because I find Creator good to the point it's distracting.

4:23 i felt the same confusion about the colors of the creator discs, but it made sense the more i thought about it. you get the music box disc rarely from decorated pots which are warm in color. for the actual creator disc, you get it from the ominous vault, and the whole color scheme of the ominous trials are filled with blueish elements (soul flames and the ominous trial keys). based on the visual context of how you obtain each disc, i think mojang made the right call on what color the discs should have. if you really think about it, the clean unoxidized disc would be the "stripped down" version since it's "stripped" of the oxidation ,:)

Personally, precipice not being in S tier was a crime. There are 3 feelings it gives me: Triumph High energy (i love energetic songs) And Nostalgia The nostalgia takes some explaining: I'm just old enough to remember when I was really young and my mom would take me into Kohls to buy clothing for me. Over the speakers, there was always music playing, and it was always slightly deep-fried. The ending of precipice has that same vibe and it brings back memories older than Minecraft itself. Precipice will always have a place it my heart because of this, and to me, is the most worthy of S-Tier that any disk could be

I do agree that precipice is a bit repetitive. However, that repetition allows it to be phenomenal battle music, something which minecraft doesn't have elsewhere, except for maybe pigstep? Fighting to precipice feels so good, and most other music discs would die down a bit too quick. It's pretty much built for trial chambers: pop a ominous bottle as the intro starts then toss yourself into the meat grinder with iron gear. The music finishes after 1 or two rooms, which works really well.

In my opinion the reason why the full version of Creator is more oxidised is because it was recorded way earlier when there was some sort of ancient steampunk civilization thriving underground and making music. The music box version was probably made later by the last remnants of the civilisation as a last ditch effort to leave a lasting legacy and they hid them in decorated pots for people to hear since the real Creator disc is gatekept in an ominous vault. That's my lore explanation for the discrepancy.

For the creator music discs, i feel like it has something to do with time. Like copper, music changes as it gets older, or the more you work on it. i feel like the normal copper works for the music box cause you could label it as the ‘first version’ and then the oxidize copper for the actual creator is the final piece that’s been worked on and finished instead of it being just a music box. The ending part has that exact same vibe, and it brings back some of my earliest memories, not from just Minecraft, but from my entire life. I ADORE Ward man! Especially because of the middle part. My second might be Otherside, and tied in 3rd is both Creator and Precipice. I also quite like 5 as well actually, it was the first “creepy” disk I could listen all the way through, and I love the sound effects, it gives off fantasy vibes

[S] 1: Stal - My favorite music disc. I love the jazz and the flute section. I think it's really underrated. 2: Otherside - Really amazing track. I wasnt feeling it at first, but it gets stuck in my head (in a good way) 3: Creator - Again another one I havent heard, but hearing it for the first time, yea its top 3. 4: Pigstep - Really great music that's so different from the others. I already feel nostaligia for it. 5: Mellohi - 11 year old me's favorite music disc for some reason. I dont know why, but I really like it. It's 13 done, right. [A] 6: Cat - Really nostalgic for me. Maybe the most nostalgic. 7: Chirp - Stampylonghead fans rise up. I grew up with this disc. 8: Strad - This is a really solid one. I rarely ever listen to it, but when I do, im pleasantly survived. 9: Far - Agreed with you. That piano section carries. Really nice overall. [B] 10: Wait - Its good, but no parts stick out to me that much 11: Prisipus - I've never heard this one either. Maybe it needs to grow on me? [C] 12: Ward - The best of the early creppy mojang tracks. Pretty decent, but not my favorite. 13: Relic - Perfectly fine. Nothing amazing, but nothing bad. 14: Blocks - Kinda mid. I tend to forget about it. [D] 15: Mall - Not really a fan. I never remember this one. 16: Creator music box - Never heard this one before this video. Sounds good enough not to be F. [F] 17: 13 - The first music disc I've ever heard. I remember being like 9 listening to this and genuinely concluding that minecraft was a horror game, and being terrified of playing it again. 18: 5 - I guess a slightly better 11? 19: 11 - Gave me nightmares as a kid

what i like about otherside is that it makes you feel like you can climb a mountain barehanded. which fits with the fact that it was added in 1.18, AND the fact that Lena Raine has already worked on songs about climbing mountains

Thought on the creator disks, the clean one has less to it as its pure, smoothed out, while the oxidized one gained all the other sounds and such through the disk getting rougher

My ranking: F tier: "The worst of the worst". 19. Disk 13. It is so ear grating, like nails on a chalk board. D tier: "The bad disks". 18. Disk 11. The scariest disk, at least to me. Still bad, but not as annoying as 13. 17. Disk 5. The best scary/lore disk. Not much else to say. C tier: "The okay disks". 16. Blocks. Its fines, but very repetative and a bit ear grating at times. 15. Ward. Has some good parts, but mostly mediocre. 14. Far. Same story as Ward, but more good parts. B tier: "The start of the good disks". 13. Relic. Ineresting is the best way to describe it. Reminds me of the game Fez for some reason. 12. Mellohi. Mellow, but with some uncertainty thrown in the mix. 11. Mall. Got super close to the top 10. Feels like Blocks, but better in every way. A tier: "Oh wow, these are great". 10. Creator (Music Box). Good rendition of the song, but couldn't put it much higher because it's just a remix. 9. Cat. Simple, yet affective. Great addition as one of the first disks added. 8. Stal. The recorder isn't that annoying to me, and the sax is just great. 7. Precipice. A bit underrated in my opinion. The only issue is that its a bit repetative, but not as much as Blocks. S tier: "The best of the best". 6. Otherside. A bit overrated in my opinion, but still absolutly amazing. 5. Strad. Two words: simply iconic. The steal drums make it stand out, and give it a wierd tropical vibe, but still great. 4. Chirp. The begining is just amazing, and the rest of the song follows suit. Simply wonderful. 3. Wait. Best clasic disk. Calm and relaxing at its finest, and always brings me nostalgic memories. 2. Creator. The slow music box begining building up to the elctric guitars and other instruments is always satisfying. I can see why it became such a fan favourite. 1. Pigstep. Always felt to me like some sort of final boss music. It also brings me some nostalgia as 1.16 is the final update I played Minecraft regularly. I still watch Minecraft content, but I always didn't like survival mode, and I didn't have any passion to build anything in creative.
