Ranking Movie Robots - A Tier List

Recently we've been making our way through the RoboCop film series and it got us thinking. Robots? And the response to that is this tier list where we rank some of the most popular movie/tv robots and cyborgs of all time. This includes The Terminator, Bishop, Chappie, Optimus Prime, The Iron Giant, M3gan, David, Data, Robin Williams robot and more. The rules are thus 1) They have to have a body 2) Whatever else we think of on the fly. Thanks for watching!

You blokes needed to do Marvin from the books and radio dramas. S tier for sure. Book Marvin lived at least 3 times the life of the entire universe. He watched planets evolve and die. He spent millions of years with a leg stuck in a pit and he just kept going around in circles. His depression ended civilizations and saved the gang's life at least twice.

If we're inserting an Alan Tudyk Robot/Android onto this list, I'd Ratner it were K-2SO. He's immediately endearing and iconic. Like Mason, I barely remember anything about I, Robot other that Will Smith fighting equally with a truck full of robots because his arm is metal, which ironically, is metal as Hell. Also, I kind of love the Robot Maria scenes in METROPOLIS, where Brigitte Helm (the actress) is just going for it, being batshit as Hell.

Fun fact about the Daleks. In one 1965 episode there's a joke about a dalek with a stutter. Same serial, a bunch get beaten up by anamatronic Dracula. They've been a joke since their 3rd ever story don't worry it's not a new develoment

He’s iconic for people of a certain age. “Danger, danger Will Robinson!”, the flashing red light when he talked, the flailing arms, the bubble ‘head’. Technically, the I, Robot movie was an original story unrelated to Asimov's book, but then the studio had the rights to I, Robot so they slapped it on there for brand recognition and made some minor changes like the inclusion of Susan Calvin and the rules of robotics (which are pretty much thrown out the window by the end of the movie). So while the books belong to the same extended universe, the movies do not.
