So, just to make you cry more when you see "It's Quiet Uptown" at the end when Eliza starts crying those were genuine tears because the actress lost a family member right before performances and you can see Lin stop crying and check on her in genuine concern. idk if it's just me but I think one of the reasons its quiet uptown is so heart - wrenching is because of the chords and how the whole piano part is the scale that Eliza would sing with Philip when they were counting up to ten in French 🥺😢 but also the fact that the song is actually sung mostly by the chorus which kinda signifies that Eliza and Alexander are so sad that they literally cannot sing 😭😭 and Angelica has to sing for her.... omg I cried so much I cry every time I hear that song 😭

It’s Quiet Uptown always hits me so hard, especially when Eliza finally takes Alexander’s hand and you can see him start to break down. So Big So Small is also INCREDIBLY painful for me. That pause she takes before “and I do and I will” always hurts because it feels like she’s coming to terms with the fact that she still falls short as a mother but she desperately wants her son to know she loves him more than anything. I don’t cry easily but those songs can make me sob.
