Can I just say, as a film student I really appreciate Dylan's commentaries. People in my circle talk like Dylan a lot in regards to film composition which is how I stumbled upon this channel. Not to gas Dylan up but I really really love and appreciate how Dylan pauses the thing he watches and talks about the shot, it's very interesting and enjoyable to me. I hope he doesn't stop it entirely

Agree, for me it's what sets him apart from the other commentary YTers I like. It makes him stand out and bring a level of maturity to the video - not that I'm saying Dylan's videos have to be high-end critical analysis lol, because I know that's not what anyone is here for, but tbh I've been watching for years and I miss his earlier era of where he'd balance the jokes with the film critiques. When it's mostly jokes, it's still fun, but seems catered more towards people a lot younger. But that's just my opinion, it's his channel at the end of the day.

I wish he wouldn't cut out different aspects of film composition in his videos. As someone who's studying film, it's so cool to see one of my favs describe why a shot doesn't work, or why the lighting is wack, or why the music is off, it's educational yet hilarious. Also helps me take note of a lot too. I still love Dylan's vids so much tho, can't wait to see what the future holds.

The little mermaid video, I'm a year younger than you -1992- so 21 years old, and that video is my absolute favourite video of yours I LOVE ITTTT. My comment on that video, which you could read instead of the 'diet dude' comment: I can not explain how much joy this video brings me. I have watched it so many times; When I need to laugh it makes me laugh against my will- your singing along to under the sea, your thing for Ursula, Ariel's race, the college jokes, will my voice ever go back to normal, go all the way, just the pure joy emanating from the whole thing. Not. One. Bad. Joke. When I need to sleep I put it on and sleep at the part where you explain the carriage and fork scene (I always love your filmmaking perspective but just cuz it's a voiceover), and then when I wake up and realize I missed the "GROWL AT ME YEAH" part, I go back and watch it (well, listen to it at this point) again. Love you Dylan- not how you love Ursula though ya creep💗

I totally understand why you would want the videos to be more comedic focused, but it's so interesting (and I'd even say just as fun as the joking) to see how you criticise films and find alternate viewpoints in how they could've been produce. Either way, I know I'll enjoy the videos whether they have the film commentary or not, but it'd still be nice if you kept them in every now and again as well as the new Late Night Dylan additions!
@hnichole Жыл бұрын
I agree, and I think what makes his film critiques so interesting (at least to me) is because anyone can just roast something that's bad. It's harder and more meaningful to explain WHY something didn't work and how you'd change it to be better. I love the commentary genre, don't get me wrong, but a lot of these bad movies are low-hanging fruit and it gets repetitive. My favorite Dylan movie videos are ones where he breaks down what worked and what didn't (probably why Beer and a Movie and Late Night Dylan are my preferred series over the regular videos).

I wanna grow up and be a Dylan and someday rank my own best to worst cancelations. What a humble and inspirational king 🤴 Please don’t cut back on movie commentaries if you wish. I love the mixture of criticism and humour, and it makes you stand out compared to so many other movie watchers on this website. Happy Holidays Dylan, thank you for making us entertained by your presence all these years 🎉

I've been here for... 4 years, I think, and I have no intention of leaving! Thank you for making us laugh! I'm excited for your "beer and a movie" videos, I love this kind of format!

I think the best part of this video is “I’m all sap, what am I, part of a tree?????”

7:32 9:01 I immediately thought of the editor. Props on the Friends video. Also like a ton of others. Keep the technical tidbits in. It has been more impressive to learn that kind of stuff because I have no experience in it.

dylan pls keep the film making commentary in your videos. it's so refreshing to learn more about the shots and analyze it from that aspect. i love that you talk about that.
