It would be pretty impossible to rank the work of either of you two! Always spectacular and fun to watch!

Glad to hear your reasons for ranking the photos. The shared experience factor and lighting certainly make such a difference. Thank you. They were all great photos.

It rarely speaks to the saying that art is in the eye of the beholder when listening to how each of you have differing appreciations of the same photo. I’ll be anxious to see Nigel’s selections and your comments.
@stevewturnbull9 ай бұрын
I'd rank No 6 first. It's so striking, partly because of the light, but mainly because of the composition which creates such a strong contrast - tiny to epic. You're both master photographers and I think the rest are great too, but this one stands out for me.

What a great idea Mads. While my thoughts differ from yours on Nigel's top 10, beauty is always in the eye of the beholder. I do agree on #1. It is also wonderful that 2 photographers can be at the same place, at the same time and capture completely different images, as happens when a good friend and I go shooting. What a wonderful critique!

Ten really beautifully composed shots. Nigel at his very best! As to ranking - every person will rank differently. Not only that! Five years hence one and the same person will probably change his or her mind and choose and rank completely differently from today.

Really interesting video and Nigel’s points about the viewers personal connection with a location is interesting as the only landscape prints i have sold are locations that have meaning to the person buying the print.

I love both Nigel's photos as I follow him too and also love your photos but my point is that the pictures are published after a substantial amount of enhancement are done, not that I've any issue of that. When trying to improve your own composition and photography skills when comparing them with enhanced ones is not realistic or provide a fair comparison and learning points.

Really like these peer critique videos and would love to see more photographers participating in them. It's all subjective, but the suggestions (even the minor ones) are helpful to learn what photographers with a very critical eye are looking at, especially with others of a similar level of experience and accomplishment.

@nelehoremans25469 ай бұрын
Thank you for this interesting exersice and also for putting the reasoning behind it. I also loved Nigel's response at the end. When there are so many beautiful pictures to choose from, all excellently taken, it is no longer the technical details that makes a picture stand out, but rather those to which you can relate to or that evoke memories or emotions will pop up. So making this list is very personal, thank you for sharing!! And I am looking forward to Nigel's selection on your 5* pictures!
@barryj19569 ай бұрын
Really great idea! Personally I find #3 a bit unbalanced and find it hard to fathom why it ranked so highly on your list. Nigel has some great photos but that one doesn't cut considering his portfolio. For me the Antarctic shot with the penguin on the iceberg would be my favourite for sure.

This prompted me to go pick my top ten from Nigel's portfolio. Granted, I didn't spend a ton of time, I just went with the photos that jumped out at me. I only chose two photos that you included on your list. the Antarctica image and the winter image from the Lake District. It's always interesting to see how people's taste differs.
@scotty44189 ай бұрын
The image from Antartica is definitely a stunning and beautiful image. I also wonder if scarcity has an influence on preferences too and would be interesting to know if Nigel will still feel the same as you are all currently in Antartica, therefore the opportunity to capture some more fantastic images from there exists and as such will the original feelings be as strong after the second adventure has concluded. Either way is is still a wonderful image and hope you all have a great trip and very much enjoying the IG updates

10 great photos and good idea for a vid series.... i do wish you'd either expand or add to this, more of the choosing the 10 over others in the portfolio, ie, more how you chose 1 over another to make the top 10. Critique of why you dimissed the non top 10 would be beneficial to us. A lot of us (im sure) take 10 -20 photos with slightly different framing, subject position, timing, light etc, and find it hard to narrow that down to 1... i think its an easier learning curve to dismiss photos and leave one great one... and help on how to go through the dimsissing process is welcomed. Anyhow - great vid again, and all stunning pics from Nigel!

I love this format! Your jealousy about Nigel’s Antarctica photos made me feel better about my jealousy when I saw the title of your video in Ireland. So jealous that I couldn’t even bring myself to watch it until I just now bought a plane ticket to go back to Ireland myself 😂 My last visit there was before I knew anything about landscape photography and only had a 35mm and 85mm fast prime with me, no tripod, no filters. 😬

I have recently terminated my subscriptions of Danson & Heaton. I dislike sell outs which become even more obvious when they add camera models to the caption of each video. Thank you Mads for not turning your channel to "Made in Nikon/Sony" channel ❤ As for the photos I pass.
@Christiandoneit1119 ай бұрын
Quite negative here, especially passing on ALL of these photos… 1. It was a pretty big year for Nikon. I don’t blame them for getting in on the action of a camera brand they love. 2. Mads did gear videos when Sony launched their big stuff, which leads to next point… 3. Heaton and Dansen have both exclaimed they wanted to get back to making the “photography lifestyle” videos, and they have, and they are brilliant. Using all these guys as mentors has helped me a lot. Mads is a wonderful teacher. All evoke emotion within the world of photography. Heatons Mongolia series has been a joy. You do you though, but they aren’t “selling out” they have been making content for a while now - I just don’t want another viewer looking at your comment, and without knowledge thinking what you’ve said is the only truth of the matter.
@dennismwallentin2969 ай бұрын
I usually ignore anonymous comments like this one... Different views different opinions. Personally I like to see a code of ethics declaration for each channel. Just to clarify the relation between the channel and the brand/company. Photos? Above the average I would say as I prefer other photographers. That's all.
@Christiandoneit1119 ай бұрын
@@dennismwallentin296100% - preference is huge. Just don’t want someone to assume their bad channels if they don’t know. You’re good, all the best to you!
