@@69rpmrecords Oh come on, by almost everyone who does " best guitarists" videos or lists or etc. I've been a die hard Tull fan since Stand Up was released so I just kinda keep my eye on these lists people do. Martin's more than just a great guitarist, he's great musician all the way around.
@bradt.355526 күн бұрын
@@69rpmrecords I guess it depends on your interpretation of "refined". Best is totally subjective. To me to say "he's okay" raises some questions. When asked, most musicians rate him very high, just goes unnoticed. If you have ever listened to the complexity of Tull's music Martin is far more "refined" than the players that make most of the lists. Steve Howe is another one that is far above most of the same old guy's that make the lists. But as I said everyone has their own idea of what makes a good solo, or guitar player.

My personal favorite would be from Uriah Heep. They dabbled in prog rock while playing heavy rock songs as well. The song “Salisbury” has an incredible solo at approximately 11 minute mark. It’s split into three pieces, but my favorite is the middle one. That is probably Mick Box’s finest guitar playing.

Easter and Sugar Mice both have better solos from Rothery than Kayleigh. Take your pick from Gilmur. Dogs1, Numb2, Pigs3, Free Four, Near the End, The Blue, Poles Apart, One of These Days2, Brick II, &c. Lamia? Come on. Hackett has way better. Windshield is much shorter, and far more epic.
