For my money, I think 45s and Under might be the best greatest hits records of all time.

There is no doubt that is the case.

And I thought I was the only Squeeze fan.... I know UK SQUEEZE is a collection that is mostly out of character with the rest of their catalog but I implore you, this is a great punk album done by OUR favorite band. My girlfriend is really into punk rock and this is the only Squeeze album that she likes. I love it as well to putting it in my top five but you've mostly got the order the way I would. I've got a really listened to their last two albums a bit more❤

Great video, Mike! I'm a new fan of the band so still discovering their back catalogue. Found your video very interesting and helpful. Just subscribed!

I heard the song Cool for Cats on the radio once many many years ago. I really liked it but had no idea who they were and the damned DJ never said. Maybe a year or so later, I heard the newly released Pulling Mussels and thankfully this time the DJ said who and what. I immediately ran out and bought the LP. Right away it became my number one go to album, playing it first thing when I got home from work every day. Now that I was hooked on Squeeze, I started to dig deeper into their catalog and bought Cool for Cats as my next addition, not realizing that the title song was that unidentified song from that earlier time. It was then I realized I had stumbled onto something special. Forty years have passed and Squeeze is still my favorite band. I recently bought a new vinyl pressing of Argy Bargy and was somewhat disappointed to discover they had scrambled the track sequence on side 2. Why would they mess with it like that?

Blame it on the Americans for changing the running order. That silliness was quite common back then.

Great video, have subbed. Very cool signed copy of Argybargy, I got mine signed by Chris Difford when he played a solo show down the road from where I live. I think you got the number one choice about right and it was good to see Frank/Play/SFP so high up. If you're interested I did a video on the making of the first Squeeze album a couple of years ago. It's called 'When Producers Implode'. Cheers, James, UK

I wouldn't change a thing in your ranking. Good call on Play! I found that I enjoyed Domino more when I changed the track order around. Just for fun, try 01,02,04,08,09,10,11,03,05,09,07,12.

Hard to argue with the top two picks as they are both great albums. For me, Play is their top album as it is packed full of great songs, musicianship and production. The era that it came out in featured a number of great but overlooked albums since musical tastes were changing, and Play was one of those overlooked albums, unfortunately. Great list, though.

Cool for cats is my favourite. Im from all the places they sing about on that record. The shopping centre they sing about in thats not cricket is where I used to go as a kid. I cant not love it for that. Otherwise I just think it had an energy and a bit of nastyness about it that sounded like a young band in there creative element. The others are great too. underrated these days even though they were quite big back then

love the top two for sure. I would swap Sweets for a stranger and Cradle to the grave on your list. I know there were hits on Sweets but those are the only two good songs on the album to me. Cradle is an album that the more you hear it the better becomes. Happy Days and the title song are top notch, and how many bands can claim something like that at this point of a bands long career.

I love U.K.Squeeze! Yes, it’s not ordinary Squeeze, but Squeeze has muscle when they want to flex. Glen Tilbrook is a monster guitar player, but he loves pop. I also love Sweets from a stranger. My problem with their early recordings is simply I burned out on them. Some Fantastic Place is my favorite. Really, I love them all.

Wait a minute. Sweets From A Stranger is filled with excellent songs-I've Returned-When A Hangover Strikes-Elephant Ride-Tongue Like A Knife-The Very First Dance-Out Of Touch-I Can't Hold On-His House Her Home. etc.

Hi Michael, I really enjoyed this. Your top 3 are exactly the same as mine. I made a video a few months ago where I ranked their UK singles which you might enjoy. Subbed. All the best, Richard (from N Ireland).

Play ...definitely an amazing album but you're not crediting "Ridiculous" enough.... Walk Away, Temptation for Love, Long Face, Electric Trains, Grouch of the Day, Heaven Knows, Daphne, Sound Asleep, Great Escape ....this is an amazing recording...top to bottom.....

Have to disagree with your ranking of Cosi Fan Tutti Frutti which I personally consider as one of their best albums with East Side Story and Argy Bargy. Top three for me. A much welcome return to form after a string of so so albums. I also liked very much the Difford&Tilbrook duo album.

Domino is the weakest Squeeze album but it’s all relative. Even that one has its moments. I really like the last couple of albums they’ve put out

Would you consider yourself a mod/punk when you were younger. After watching Elvis Costello countdown of yours I'm just wondering? I'm a music nerd from Nashville too btw.

I may have tried but never really fit into the scene. Music fans in NYC back then often were too pretentious to be friendly.
