People forget how very talented Chris Gifford is. With age Gifford has become a rather humble character and seems content to let Tilbrook take centre stage. Gifford actually wrote most of Squeeze's best songs, including Tempted and Tilbrook added the music. We mustn't forget Chris's contribution and I believe also he wrote the majority of the lyrics for Cool For Cats - which he sang brilliantly with his cockney accent - and all the words for Up The Junction - another fabulous hit. These three songs written by Gifford are by far my favourite and I would dearly love to see Squeeze perform one day, even though we're living through terrible covid times now.
@KillerBl83 жыл бұрын
Couple of things Chris - his name is Difford not Gifford. Nobody that knows Squeeze forgets Chris Difford because he didn't just write most of Squeeze's best songs he wrote the lot along with Glenn Tilbrook. Chris is the lyricist and Glenn the music man. These are the roles that they have had since they formed 48 years ago. I hope you do get to see them live as they are magnificent. Chris is the quiet one of the pair but the band nowadays rocks the house - great characters across the board - Simon on drums, Steve on percussion and background vocals, Stephen on keyboards, Yolanda on bass and Melvyn on steel guitar. Get tickets for when they are in town and have a fantastic night.

It's something Jools Holland has no hard feelings he isn't on piano in Squeeze. When was this? I thought Glenn Tilbrook and Chris Difford were the only original members currently in Squeeze. They didn't get in the same room for Bands Reunited, but this is close and besides Paul Carrack is on East Side Story. They easily could have performed "Tempted".

No. Apparently they parted on good terms and he has played with them intermittently since. Not only a great host for this style of programme, which has been going for at least 2 decades, but also tours with Jools Holland Big Band and has released a multitude of recordings. I’ve never heard him say a bad word about Squeeze, only positivity and who in my humble opinion, are up there alongside The Beatles, Stines and The Kinks. Info not aimed at people in the UK, who, if watching this, are most probably aware.
