Adventure Park is a fascinating mess. I totally agree that it's overpriced for what it is, but honestly I remember what it was like back in the early 2000s when the biggest attraction was "we bought some archery equipment from Rebel Sport and stacked up a bunch of haybales, go nuts", and this is such an improvement on that it's insane.

There is a missing park here. Outback Splash in Perths North. Once called the maze with, you guessed it, maze attractions and frisbee golf and an ice cream parlour its now identified itself as a water park boasting a large, very impressive aquaplay structure. It then received its first waterslide tower with 4 waterslides to attract thrillseekers. Its most recent edition is a pool for the parents and kids alike to enjoy. I definitely think the place is a bit lacking but the pool is a very good step in the right direction. Whilst my wish would be for some dry rides i wouldnt be mad if their next investment is more waterslides. Its biggest downfall is its location being very remote in the bushlands of perths northern suburbs.
@haydencooper_

Adventure World was probably far more remote in 1982 but now it's relatively close to the city. Outback Splash will eventually be right in the middle of suburbia.😀

I remember when Sea World had twice as many rides for adults and families as they do today and a small water park. It now suffers the same problem as Movie World - a dearth of flat rides with just two though more often than not just one operating. MW thinks they can get away with one flat ride total and with the deceased Doomsday just sitting there, like the proverbial middle finger to patrons.
@njrk97
@njrk97 Ай бұрын
Hopefully with the construction of the Wizard of Oz land its showing at least somewhat of a turn for the better, Im hoping that the Doomsday area will be next to be cut out and replaced with more movie themed stuff with flatrides to boot. I think the trend towards more evergreen or future proof movie franchises for theming is smart (They are Movie World afterall, Not DC land), the fact the entire comic book movie craze came and went without Movie World ever getting the chance to retheme or build attractions based on the DCEU IPs,is telling, Its clear Warner Bros has no interest in supporting Village Roadshow and is playing Hardball with any new or modern IP handouts despite Movieworld pushing way to hard on DC IP theming. So going for more classical or timeless movie themes and exorcising some of their DC glut seems like the best of a bad situation for them.

Even though it has multiple food and drink outlets, Adventure World lets you take your own food and drink into the park which i believe isn't allowed at many other parks. People have plenty of open space to set up their esky/picnic rugs for the day.

When I went to dream world back in 2018 it was a disappointing waste of time. Two years after the tragedy, all the rides were shut. I remember all day being told by staff "oh the giant drop might open around lunch time!" Blah blah blah. None of that happened and all the major rides were shut all day because the park had such cold feet after what happened. In the end after some complaining all we got out of it was a small voucher for the gift shop, and I walked out with just a dumb little stress ball that's sitting on my shelf on the other side of my room as I'm typing this out rn

Hey, Gumbuya employee here! I can confirm that the old park still exists at the back of the property, but sadly, it’s fading into history. Most of the old rides are now rusty relics, overtaken by nature and serving as a new home for some kangaroos. On a brighter note, the old ticket booth that once greeted hundreds of guests still stands today, a nostalgic reminder of the park’s early days. I know only a few details of gumbuya direction but it does look like a bright future

Great video!!!!! I really like watching theme park videos but it can be a bit of a bummer if it's always just the huge ones in America you know you'll never go to. Having been to pretty much all these parks made it really engaging because I totally understood every reference you made and everything you talked about. I will say I like White Water World better than Wet and Wild, but that might just be because I had like, 2 really awful experiences at Wet and Wild thanks to closed rides, broken lockers, and huge waits, where as that's never happened for me at White Water World. Otherwise, this has been such a fun watch, and I'm so glad I found your channel the other day! Go Australia! And as a proud SA rep, Adelaide Mention!!!! (Also I miss Bermuda Triangle so much)

You go to the Jurassic Park rides and the effects are amazing. The parade is incredible. The only ride at MovieWorld where I truly felt immersed was the Scooby Doo Spooky Coaster.

Movieworld always loses me because they just throw rides anywhere with no themeing. Like, scooby doo just sits there on its own. There’s now a DC ride right next to it. All of the western area shut down except for Wild West and it’s so weird. I really feel they need to spilt it into sections like disneyworld, dare I say it. I also think movieworld has a lot of dead space. A lot of empty white buildings with nothing in it. The studio tours they used to do were amazing. I wish they’d re-incorporate them.

fortunate in my youth to go to the GC twice. my impression at the time was that i enjoyed white water world more than wet n wild but that was more than a decade ago so hard to tell these days. i also enjoyed sea world more than the other 4 parks but that is because i was and am still a big animal lover . as a theme park fan i still hold the belief that a big theme park is possible outside sydney at a ~1.5hr drive distance to allow for space and for the land not to be too expensive probably north near mangrove mountain etc although maybe if theres space out west they could extend the airport link train for the new airport to a themepark site.

I totally agree with your number 1&2 Movie world is a big let down these days it is run down and has as many rides in maintenance as it has running and all they seem interested in is subtracting as much money from everyone once your in the park let’s hope after the latest upgrades they consider upgrading the rest of the park and in future bringing back some family oriented rides, On the other hand Dreamworld is going from strength to strength adding family and thrill attractions without losing others in return it continues to look fresh by updating the park regularly and maintaining a very high standard throughout.

@ you sure you got the right park? Movie World is a run down shadow of what is once was , most of the time the board out front listing unavailable attractions is bigger than the attractions running, Dream World is fresh expanding at a far bigger rate and is more family friendly. If your in to the big thrill coasters sure Movie World has more but your going to be very lucky to find everything running on the same day due to it all down to the lack of money Movie World are prepared to spend in maintaining a high standard, they seem more interested in adding side show attractions to squeeze every cent out of patrons once in the park.

They do not spend money on anything unless they really have to. Neither Charlottes nor Selwyn have had any major new lifts and they actually closed one of the local movie theatres. I honestly don't mind paying a bit extra to the smaller parks that are doing their best to grow and add rides. These new investments cost a fortune and the money has to come from somewhere. It's a bit of a different story if the park is a bit run down, or hasn't done anything new in over ten years though. Another thing, isn't it weird how Victorian parks seem to put such an emphasis on water rides? We don't really get that much hot weather. I love a good slide, but You'd think it'd be better to invest in something people can ride all year round. So many people here seem to think that you can only go to a theme park when it's 34 degrees, but then they only want to do water rides because it's too hot. It's so strange.
@snideasides
@snideasides Ай бұрын
The area surrounding Melbourne (the only part of Victoria that could sustain a theme park) is one of the wettest parts of Australia, and when it rains it tends to be just enough that it's not safe to run coasters. I'd expect the park operators are probably thinking along the lines of "well, if we can't run anything big during winter, why don't we get stuff to draw in extra people over summer?"

You only have to look at their big mack coasters to see how Dreamworld is superior to Movie World. Steel Taipan's line is really well shaded, they get people in their gate spots WELL ahead of time, they will run 2 trains sooner than MW would (or could...? I cant remember ever seeing DC running 2 trains). Meanwhile at DC Rivals, you can bake in the sun looking at mediocre murals and watching them dispatch once every 10-15 mins or so. DC Rivals holds the records and is a great ride, but I dread the experience of getting onto the ride.

This might should dumb but I have a theory why dreamworlds rides have no line (except for motocoaster no one knows how to get into that thing). I have a feeling the park isn’t as busy as the other parks because of the river rapids accident which I think drove a lot of the gp away, as they got concerned about the safety procedures of the park. While us thoosies know that the reason the accident happened was because Dreamworld made the ride themselves and they didn’t put in proper safety procedures, and the remaining rides at dreamworld are made by trusted manufacturers, the gp might not know that especially because the news really don’t go into detail about these accidents they just want money and there’s no reason for them to go into detail about this accident so a lot of them might be scared of going to dreamworld. Btw this is just a theory I’m probs incorrect

@@AmateurThoosie they do get as busy as Movie World it depends on when you visit. Operations at Dreamworld are far better then Movie world and Dreamworld is a bigger park as well.

wet'n'wild gold coast was actually that trash compared to jamberoo. I mean, I'd take a waterslide with a big fuck off spider over some random slide themed to a concrete factory

I went with my grandparent to dream world on the ride 2 months before the tragedy. When we came back to Melbourne and saw the tragedy on television we got the fright of our lives. Ever since then I haven’t been to dreamworld due to trauma, and fear. From this video It makes me feel slightly better about it.

Movie world needs to be lower. Pick any random day and there is a good chance 1/3 or more of all rides are undergoing maintenance. Its value for money is so bad I bypass it (from Ipswich) and take my kids to Sea World and I getting dreamworld/white water world passes over renewing VR passes.

As someone who has recently been to movie world and dreamworld hard to say the operations are worse dreamworlds coaster every one I went on had next to no line so of course it was quicker to get on did taipan giant drop and gold coaster all were walk ons sky voyager was a joke waited in line for about 45 minutes and just stayed in the room at the start and gave up and left. yes movie world needs to improve there operations no doubt also giant drop was only running one side for some reason but yeah was a walk on movie world is always so busy long lines

How did dreamworld get number 1?????
@AmateurThoosie
@AmateurThoosie Ай бұрын
Same. I think if Dreamworld got a true signature coaster able to even get close to rivals, then it would take number 1. However, I will admit that the lines are a lot better, or maybe it’s just the days I’ve waited on.

Dreamworld has a good selection of flat rides. Movie World deigns that one functioning and one SBNO flat ride is sufficient for us peasants.

funfields isnt good ive been like 20 times and its so boring the lines are insane you have to wait atleast an hour just to go on the smaller slides theres also no more go karts and its turning into a lazy river i just think its not worth the money and food is so overpriced

I say Green Valley Farm is the best Playground in the country... Not theme park
@MaloneysCoasters

I say it's the grey area where the two concepts cross over. Green Valley Farm is both. Any more complex and it would be just a theme park. Any simpler and it would be just a playground. Especially the water park really brings it up to a level far above any playground I've ever seen

dude idk what you expect with water parks... quite literally they are concrete slabs with waterslides on them. thats what every water park is for the most part. just say you dont like waterslides and waterparks lol
@MaloneysCoasters
@MaloneysCoasters Ай бұрын
That’s absolutely not the case. Check out places like Rulantica, Yas Waterworld, Aquaventure, and you’ll see that there’s nothing stopping a water park from being as beautiful and as well-put-together as a theme park. Australia just doesn’t have many good ones. My high praise for FunFields, Jamberoo, Adventure World and Gumbuya World also undermines your point, particularly the first two which I praised specifically for their water attractions
