Runnymede is top tier. But I feel like it’s hard to gauge that from first impressions. Top floors have double jointed kitchens. So two kitchens joined together. They’re massive and great for motives. And depending what block you’re in the bathroom is either pretty good or an airport toilet cubicle

I’ve got Runnymede accomm this year and I’m so scared. One picture I saw it was a normal room normal bathroom and everything and the other (the one that said it was Runnymede 2 which is my accomm) had a bathroom the size of my bedside table. I’m just crossing my fingers that it was an old picture and it got upgraded or something because I’m not trying to spend a year with a bathroom where I can shit and wash my hands at the same time

I got kingswood this year and its not tooooo bad, do share a bathroom tho and not having a proper kitchen is kinda grim. I run on time so the bus isn’t a problem for me so definitely going for hox park next year. Oh and my room is vomit green

"Penrose needs to be burned to the ground" - truth right there! Did my masters at Holloway, having done my undergrad there a few years back. When asked how I would rank postgrad accom, I say this: Gowar is the best After that, if you want your own bathroom, go to Highfield. If you don't care, go to George Eliot And if you get Penrose...ask for your money back

@@benjaminhall7711 hey don’t worry! Someone message me about the exact same problem. My biggest advice is to either hassle student services so they change you or find someone to swap with you. If those are dead ends you can either pray that penrose makes and not breaks you or try to find private accom in Egham like hoxpark or the garage

Unfortunately I saw this AFTER I applied for accommodation, but i ranked Founder’s as my #1 so i’m not too mad about it. Though I know you personally aren’t an international student, I wanted to ask if you had any advice you’ve heard from friends for international students? I’m from the southern U.S. and I don’t want to go in looking like a total dumb American stereotype! Thank you for your advice vids on rhul, they’ve really helped me and have ensured me that I made the right choice!

Founders is still a great option! I was there for the first year and had the time of my life.i deffo have advice for international students, I could potentially do a lil video for you but most of all I would say: - Research transport before hand and look at applying for a railcard. I've been abroad and using trains, buses and subways can seem very daunting in a new country. There's alot of info online, you can always ask friends, but make sure you look into yourself. - If you ever feel homesick make sure you find out about things nearby that remind you of home. For example, a friend of mine form Korea went to a traditional Korean market in London and the vibes we're just like home and she loved it. - also make sure you find out if you're eligible to work here. Trust me uni gets spendy so having a part time or zero hour contract doesn't hurt - Brush up on you British slang. We use a lot of it😂

Yep, as Venus says you're still able to have a really great time at Founders. You're living in Hogwarts! But as pointed out, you have to remember it's a grade I listed building, which means legally it's not allowed to have any major work done in redeveloping it, so you've got to come at it with the mindset it's an old building with old building problems!

I’ve literally been binging ur Holloway vids and they are sooo helpful and informative, I was looking at accom options today so this should help , I do have a question tho I’ll be honest I’m a bit broke (💀) so how do you pay for accom is it like a deposit, is it weekly monthly how does it work ?

Dw I've been there! Accomodation is always due just after student loan drops and it's paid in threes at the beginning of every term ! I'm glad it helps!!!

i was given a standard George Eliot room but really wanted an en-suite :( they said on 17th sep there’s potential to change, how did you find it when you changed?

Oh babes I didn’t get to change. You can hassle student services but the only way to change is if you find someone who’s in the same year and the same gender as you wanting to swap. But George Eliot is pretty popular so you should be able to find someone who would want to

Hey hi ! I and my friend both have been allocated george eliot, does anybody know uf halls’ blocks are gender based or not ?

George Eliot is a mixed hall so you’ll be sharing the house block with 7 or 5 other people (depending on size of block) HOWEVER with GE they usually put the same genders together as neighbours so you should be sharing the bathroom with one other person of the same gender to you.

Glad I could help! Ooo I recommend 40 weeks if you can only because it is a bit of a hassle to move in and out over the breaks BUT if you don't have too much stuff and decor AND you think you'll be at home for the 4 weeks then itll be a good option for you

No it’s not horrible😂 it’s actually quite decent and the rooms are similar to tuke and gowar. It just gets a lot of crap because the kitchens are really small and sometimes there can be rats near the bins outside because the forest is behind the accom

Move out! When your contract is over the uni will let you know by what date you have to move all your stuff out

@@leviackerman5870 it depends on what you decide to do. After first year some people decide to move in with friends near the uni and others stay in student accom. I decided to stay in student accom but one thing to note is that there may not always have space for 2nd years if there’s too many people. First years always have priority and sometimes so do 3rd years because it’s their final year.

@@leviackerman5870 but I will always recommend doing 2 years on campus and living out for at least one year just so that you gain experience for what it’s like because you learn a lot whilst letting out as a student
