It's really easy to write-off Lorenz as just being an a elitist prick, but he does have a genuinely good core to his character. When many characters will talk about their noble responsibilities and station, it's really just an excuse for them to be able to do whatever they want and ignore the needs of commoners. Lorenz is a true believer whose primary characteristic is his devotion to his duty. Whereas other nobles look at commoners with scorn and refuse to associate with them, for Lorenz it is merely a matter of decorum. He feels he has his place and the commoners have theirs, however he also feels his place is on the front lines defending them. And ultimately, he also softens on his ideas of nobles and commoners interacting, realizing that even if he has his responsibilities, that shouldn't stop them from being friends. He's actually got one of the better written, more nuanced character arcs in the game. But yes, he really needs to find a better barber.

What's next? Church of Seiros characters? Ashen wolves? Both at once? Also, I can confirm that Raphael gets some great supports in Three hopes! A lot of development for him! (His support with best boy Ashe is a standout for sure). And Lysethia as well, because puppy!

Top 7 (Pretty easy list to make as hardly any of the golden deer stand out to me in a good way, aside from maybe 3). 7. Raphael - Too one note and kinda just there. 6. Ignatz - Had a few good supports, Flayn, Marianne and Ingrid specifically, but wasn't a standout unit. 5. Claude - I really just don't care for Claude's personality. He has little to no development as a character, and he's the only one who can survive all 4 routes in Houses because he's the next King of Almyra too. So he can kinda dip out of Fodlan and leave the rest of his men whenever he wants. He kinda gets carried by his battlefield performance. 4. Lorenz - At first, Lorenz was in contention alongside Lindhardt for being my least favorite male student. Luckily he redeemed himself in Hopes, which he probably has his father to thank for that, cause I enjoyed him much better in Hopes (or maybe it's just that Claude was so screwed up in Hopes that I'll take what I can get). 3. Hilda - Already said this, but Hilda's relationship with Caspar makes up for a multitude of sins. Her relationship with Holst and Balthus is also heckin funny in Hopes. 2. Leonie - Enjoy her design. And despite her obsessions for Jeralt, literally most characters in this game have an obsession over someone, and it doesn't really hinder her character at all for me. 1. Marianne - Obvious? Maybe. Do I care? Not really.

Ignatz being written off is crazy to me. His crazy crit and hit rate practically carried the last few chapter. It’s pretty easy to see early on how you can build him into a mage’s literal worst nightmare, considering his high resistance and crazy high luck stat.

Honestly I liked what they did with Claude in Three Hopes, it finally showed that he can be a master tactician and that he's willing to resort to underhanded tactics. Three Hopes had some flaws with its story, but I'm happy they made Claude commit to some questionable actions.

Another really great video! Definitely agree with you on Claude, personally he struck me as extremely charming and fun in the first half of the game, but I kinda feel he runs out of steam by the second half, due to the lack of development and real conflict (you'd think there would for example be some friction between him and his Church allies due to his stance on the Church of Seiros, but this is never really explored). He's still well written, and his status as an eternal outsider makes it easy to understand why he's so committed to his particular vision for Fodlan, but there's definitely some missed potential here.

the golden deer are great its what i started with Claude is probably my favorite lord can understand why you would have mixed feelings of him tho and he does have missed potential but i think three hopes made up for that i think all of three houses playable characters are great i think it is the best FE cast in the series

I can see why people love Claude and I'm currently playing through Golden Wildfire, I haven't finished it yet but it seems to have a lot of potential to give Claude some more development

i truly think Claude's route is unfairly bashed. Yes, it's feels disconnected from the rest of the story sometimes, but that it. I think his story gets ripped on far more than it deserves and if it it were its own game it would be rated more fairly.

I can’t back you up on some of your picks, but my list is pretty similar, for the most part. 8; Ignatz (He’s a background character with little charm) 7; Lorenz (Really hard to look past the stuffy demeanor, but pretty good when you do) 6; Raphael (He’s a good man who doesn’t dwell on trauma & a hilarious source of memes) 5; Leonie (I find her a very enjoyable look into Commoner life in Fodlan, but that B support definitely could’ve been better timed, like immediately happens once you have the c support before chapter 10) 4; Hilda (Surprisingly interesting character with awesome quotes, and endearing supports) 3; Marianne (Amazing portrayal of depression, with great supports, especially Ferdinand, and my favorite Paralogue ever) 2; Lysithea (I have very personal reasons, so LSS; Stellar depiction of a person with a disability) 1; Claude (Before Three Hopes, he would’ve been #2, and I’ll leave it at that) I have especially deep & personal reasons for loving my top 2 deer, and I can’t explain it all in a KZbin comment.

I do have a interesting question thou I know you play three hopes and I know you done atlest one route that being the blue lions so that got me thinking are you gonna a similar raking video of three hopes character i know they are still the same character with perrty much the same motivation there are differences between them even if they are little so it be interesting. also between 3 houses and hopes from what you know witch do you think hase a better story?

Thanks. I'm not gonna do another ranking for this for 3 Hopes because like you said they're mostly the same, these videos took very long to make and it's not worth the work when the rankings will be mostly the same. But yes I have played all 3 routes in 3 Hopes. I think Golden Wildfire and Scarlet Blaze in 3 hopes are better than Verdant Wind and Crimson Flower/Silver Snow. However I still think Azure Moon is my favourite story and I think it's better than Azure Gleam.

nah, lysithea and marianne were done better than sylvain imo. Also sylvain treated women like garbage to make himself feel better. So yeah no. Lysithea>>>> Sylvain. Also acting mean and depressed due to trauma is boring and overdone? Well you don't give too many good reasons there. Of course trauma and a short life would make someone act in a negative way. Isn't chaarcters being and and happy all the time overdone as well? But overall, lysithea and marianne are pretty entertaining while hilda, raphael and leonie are just boring overall.
