They have aging depth and an aging co-stars who wants a payday and won’t be able to get one with the new CBA. The new CBA really fucked over teams more than fans are willing to admit and honestly there should’ve been more concessions on the players part for such a drastic change but it seems like both players and the league want to kill the superteam trend, but they ended up killing a lot of teams that relied heavily on their depth to pay players that would’ve gotten a payday elsewhere.

Kings honestly got unlucky and faced a GSW team firing on all cylinders meanwhile the Lakers got lucky and faced a dysfunctional GSW. I think one or two more years and the Kings are scary, amazing stars and depth, amazing coach and a lot of potential. I think honestly all the Kings need is a true playmaker to run the offense, if Draymond will truly leave the GSW and can’t sign with Lebron I think the Kings should try and nab him despite the problems he had with the kings during the first round. If not Draymond then I think OG and Reggie Bullock would be good trades. Probably won’t have to give up much and get a ton in return.

Seriously, it’s significantly better than most of the B teams. Have a great young back court with Hali, Nembhard, and Mathurin, serviceable young wings in Nesmith, nwora, and (hopefully) whichever forward they pick at 7 this year, and Turner (who is the team’s veteran presence and is now on a good extension). Add to that that they have all their available picks and a huge chunk of available cap space I think they are on par with Jazz, Houston, and Detroit.

How can you put a big market team like the Lakers below a small market team with bad assets like Washington? It doesn't even matter if the Lakers don't have draft picks, stars will always want to go there so although they might not always be in title contention they will always have a future. Further they primarily lost their games due to the horrible defense having no rim protection/rebounding etc.. Their offense wasnt awful at all. You exxagerate. Of course there is room for improvement, but let them have a preparation together in the summer with Doncic being completely healthy again and we will see.

The Rockets being A is insanity. They’ve been tanking for 3 years and have made ZERO progress. Is Jalen green good? Unclear. Jabari looked BAD as a rookie and even if he figures it out I think it’s clear he has a relatively low ceiling for a top 3 pick. Sengun is talented but so small and unathletic for a big. Compare to that to Orlando, who blew up their team after Houston did, who took a clear step forward this season. They had a winning record the final 57 games of the season after a crap start. Also while Houston does have Brooklyn Picks, they don’t have their own picks going forward. Their picks go to OKC in 2024, 2026, and OKC can swap with them in 2025.

I personally would have the Hawks a tier higher because of their young core. They can be competitive with that team until they have their picks again, or they can trade everyone and rebuild that way. They’ve made it out of the first round recently enough to put them on par with the Kings in my opinion Tuck. I would also put the Magic in the S tier for those same reasons you listed, although I might be placing too much faith in Jonathan Isaac returning to be an elite defender.

Great video, but some changes I would have to make. You have to keep your same valuation of stars consistent when talking about the Grizzlies and move them down to the B tier because they have everything else going for them, but an erratic franchise player, whereas a team like Dallas has very few things going for them but has Luka. Also would move Pistons up to A tier, feel like their future is just as good as the Magic, and then would probably move Minnesota down to C tier because they have so little going for them outside of Ant. No future draft picks, KAT and Gobert at their lowest trade value ever, etc.

You can't necessarily say you have a bright future when all you have are young players with "potential" and draft picks that have the "chance" to be good. The reason Minnesota isn't as screwed as the national media depicts it is is because they have a clear-cut #1 guy now (Ant), can move players around to have cap space and some assets (most notably KAT and to some degree Gobert) and also have young players who showed legit signs of being good at what they did (McDaniels, Reid, NAW...) They have an identity of being a good defensive team and their new starting lineup only played 7 games together without a proper training camp or anything. And this is all happening DESPITE trading all those picks. Those picks are also all gonna be in the late teens because they align with Ant's prime and he alone is gonna win them a lot of games. So how is this not a better situation than Houston?

@@kgtd2160 you’re right about all of those questions about Houston, but Minnesota is going to have to make some moves if they want to solve their own problems and questions. I didn’t expect Minnesota to actually be willing to trade KAT until it came out today that there’s smoke about it. They could end up dramatically raise their future ceiling if they get a good deal done. But you have to admit that the Gobert trade was really, really, bad for them and created an unnecessary obstacle. Their front office probably can’t afford to make another mistake again. Houston though hired Ime Udoka and brought his old assistants with him, and they are in a super flexible position to bolster their roster super-fast and in a good way. I think both teams are able to see that their ceilings aren’t championship level as of now, but Minnesota is going to have to work harder than Houston from here on out since they gave themselves not that room to grow in their current position. They can’t afford to mess up again.

As a Raps fan im very divided on their future. They dont really have any young promising starter-caliber players outside of Scottie Barnes. Christian Koloko and Dalano Banton have shown signs of intrigue but they both have a lot to work on. Malachi Flynn, despite improving his 3pt shot a bit last year, hasn't panned out into even being a quality bench piece. Given how free agents generally dont like to come to Toronto because of how bad taxes are playing here despite the culture, Toronto can only really afford to go for blue chips and hope they pan out and there's not a lot of them this off-season. If Pascal, OG and Fred get traded this team is gonna be the new Pistons.

Dubs fan and definitely disagree with the ranking. Based off how I figured you'd defined your tiers, they would be a B tier team. All the B tier teams were teams either with great/star aging players with some questionable young guys but still have control of their draft assets mostly. Or they're a younger team that has a collection of good to great young players but don't have that person to take them over top. Dubs definitely fit that former. Steph is still playing at the top of his abilities and looks like he can for at least a couple more years but agreed he could drop off in the next couple of years also. Draymond and Klay aren't their peak selves but still have some fight in them though not sure what direction the team goes. Young guys are questionable but we know what Poole could be based off what we saw in 21-22, Moody shows flashes of being a good 3-D type guy, Kuminga is still an enigma but the flashes of potential are so tantalizing and he was getting a lot of run during the season so this doesn't seem like a skill thing but something mental or about effort, and who knows about PBJ or Rollins at this point but PBJ had lottery potential before the injuries derailed him. I know it's cheating a little bit but the list would've benefitted from splitting the B tier into B+/B/B-. That way teams could've been ranked that way and showed the actual stratification inside the B tier. Otherwise it was just sort of a muddled mess. There's also a lot of emphasis on teams in the A and S tier with lots of draft picks that allowed a lot of hand waving for fairly mid talent that's currently on the team.

I know I’m a biased fan but I just don’t see how we’re in the same tier as some of these other teams like Indy, Toronto, and Brooklyn. We took a big leap this year and we have so much draft capital and players (IQ, Grimes, RJ) who we can swing in a trade for that true star alongside Brunson. Even Randle will have value for some team out there looking to add an all start caliber player.

The Lakers own their 2026, 2028-2030 picks, and will have either their 2024 pick or 2025 depending on which one the pels choose. They also have Austin Reaves, a player any team in the NBA would want, with room to improve, along with Rui who has room to grow as well. They also have Anthony Davis in his prime, and can use his value to gain draft picks if needed in the post-lebron era. We're also not in the super tax like the clippers are. Putting us in D makes no sense. It made sense last year, but with the addition of Rui and the blossoming of AR15 a lot has changed. You need to update your picks

I see lists like this and it's important to see a 50/50 split. You have 6 teams in the "red" and 13 teams in the "green" For instance I live in Dallas and I see VERY little UPSIDE with this team. They won't make the playoffs next year and they are clearly C tier.

The issue with a video like this is that the term future is very open ended. Some teams, like the jazz being ranked above the Cavs doesn’t make a lot of sense considering where they are currently. The Jazz are very mid now, and almost all of their promise is in their comical amount of draft picks. The cavs are young and coming off a great regular season. I think people are too low on the cavs because they will get better in the playoffs as they age.
