Today I decided to go down memory lane and rank the monsters in Monster Hunter World. I already recorded another video for the Iceborne version, but this one was long enough as it is, so Iceborne will be it's video.

I will never forget my first encounter with bazel: was hunting in multiplayer with some randoms and one guy was especially salty atm and wrote "dont die" (but not so nice) all the time. Then Bazel came in and he was the only one to faint. Definetly S tier

My first Bazel encounter: A simple highrank gathering quest (Ancient Fossils) in the Rotten Vale. I didn't think anything important of "Odogaron has left the locale", then I accidentally woke up the Great Girros at its nest while trying to fend off the small Girros. THEN that air-raid siren sounds, the Handler panics, and I try to scramble away the fastest way possible (by leaping off the nearby ledge). I'm literally downing a potion when Bazel leaps off the same cliff after me and lands directly on me, and it's a cart.

I love jyuratodus. They managed to do a fish that it always swimming AND actually fun to fight as it is always reachable. Its hitboxes are great. The mud plateforms it creates is a cool mechanic. And boy how smashing its head with Hammer feels good.

I concur, even if you aren't packing Aquatic Mobility skill Jyuratodus's basic movement creates dry areas for you to stand on (and some of them you can even jump from, IIRC). I still don't _like_ the monster, but I'll limit my complaints to that.

His moveset is pretty basic and at best hes a punching bag, hes easy to fight cause he almost will never do any worthwhile damage to you and is extremely easy to avoid

I find it weird that alot of youtubers find Kirin hard or even annoying, to me his fight is super easy he dies really quickly he has almost no hp, maybe because I use a GL when I fight him, his lightening attacks are very predictable and with the thunder mantle he basically can't harm you, also he us the only horse like monster he looks really cool, I still remember the first time I saw him and how amazed I was.

Lavasioth annoys me so much. He goes into the lava all the time and they say he is supposed to soften when he comes out but nope, he still as solid as ever. You also said Kushala has his ups and downs... nope, only ups because he is always up in the air.

Pretty much. Kushala goes into F tier for me. G tier is where the AT and Lunastra as a whole lie. Except for Xeno's, that one was decent.

@@draw2death421 I know you can use torch pods, I was pointing out that when he goes in the lava and becomes invulnerable for a while I don't even get the benefit of a softened hide 75% of the time. I don't know why you are so hostile about a game but if you need help you should talk it out with someone close to you or call for help.

After much thinking, I think my top 5 gotta be Beotodus (love sharks), Bazelgeuse (perfect invader theme), Vaal Hazak (grotesque and exotic), Odogaron (vicious and relentless) and Fatalis (really benefited from the revamp and much more impressive) Honorable mentions to Nergigante, Namielle, Diablos and Great Girros

From a pure design standpoint Namielle really stands out to me, It' not a terribly hard fight but it's gorgeous and is probably my favorite aesthetically.

Behemoth is a fat F for me. I don't have friends who play Monster Hunter, and I'm mostly a solo hunter. Fighting Behemoth with randos was the most frustrating experience. It took me 60+ attempts to get my first win. The constant spam of tornadoes, the meteors following the guy who had no idea what to do, so he put them next to the wall, or near the monster. On one of my near attempts, the team was doing well and we made it to the 3rd area. Our LBG user just put him to sleep, our GS user was about to land a crushing true charge wake up and the other guy shot a pebble in Behemoth's face while GS user was mid charge. The team fell apart and we carted. Funny, yes, but after 60 attempts with randos, I was beyond furious. Finally beat him, made his armor and said, "Bye Felicia".

I'm super late to this but Ruri putting Behemoth at S when it should have its own tier way below F is hilarious. Rare Monster Hunter L. I'm surprised no one decided to burn down Capcom's HQ because of extremoth. It is the most blatant representation of "fuck you solo players" in the entire game. I was able to solo Alatreon, AT Velkhana and Fatalis with lance. I couldn't solo this oversized schizo mongoloid bull cat thing for the life of me because of the time limit. I ended up doing it in multiplayer for the layered armor and that's it. Meanwhile the Rathalos trial in FFXIV is pretty fun.

I have a very negative opinion of rathalos due to having to farm him 30-50 times in order to get a gem from him. This amplified the annoyances that he had and I loath having to fight him

Love this video, I dropped iceborn due to not feeling the endgame grind and event system, but Im loving a look back on all these monsters. Very fair ratings, I disagree on some, thinking your giving it a bit too much credit, but that's just opinions, love this man!

Nerge was one of the most iconic fights ever for me in a monster hunter game. I actually had to drop Great Sword and switch to Dual Blades just to get past the fight for the first time. Absolutely loved it. Kushala was also another favorite fight of mine. The wind was annoying at first, but learning to play around it was satisfying. I really didn't care for either Teo/Lunastra though. I found them more obnoxious walls than interesting/memorable battles.

Lunastra, kushala, teostra and chameleos all have unbreakable horns until they limp. You cannot break their head before that so that's why you had trouble with Luna.

I recommend doing a tier list of all monsters(or all the ones you know) its fun and you really gotta think about it I did a tier list for all monsters and i gotta say the highest rank is the easiest by miles compared to ranks A,B,C they are definitely the hardest

Odogaron was 10/10 for me. Quite literally remember spending days on him because it was such a skill gap monster. Really tested you first time around and even now 1k hours later, I walk past him and give him the respect he deserves.

It wasn't random at all. If I had an issue with Extremoth it was how 'gamey' his fight felt. It was very predictable if you understood the mechanics (which is not to say it was easy, still quite challenging).

I'm that strict that I didn't have any World monsters in S tier. My only A tiers for World monsters were Jho, Diablos, Rathalos + Rathian, Nergigante and Teostra A few got into E+F tier too, but right there in bottom place was Kulve. I eventually came round to multiplayer focused quests that gated gear with Safi Jiiva, but seriously fuck Kulve and her elongated quest that gave solo players a middle finger.

I think the fact that Seething loses "invader" status makes him equal to normal Bazel. Bazel no longer dive bombing my fights and only showing up in one map was my biggest disappointment in Iceborne, personally, I was so sad when I realized Seething's AI was different.

I feel like a big issue regarding Tempered and AT monsters is that the difficulty of those fights is entirely artificial, and that destroys a lot of the experience in general.

agreed. for too many of them it just means having more health and damage. new attacks to learn would be far more challenging than just making everything nearly one shot you, eventually you get to the point where you know monsters well enough to not take those hits so the difference between normal and tempered becomes tempered takes a little longer.

They nerfed flash pod effectiveness for every monster in iceborne which made the rath family significantly more annoying to me as a SnS main. Also Jho was too tall, I felt like I was hacking at a tree truck half the time while whittling away at his ankles (savage was way~ worse)

I think diablos is a GREAT fight, depending on what weapon you use. It served as a really good place for me to learn timing with the lance because the fight is very safe with a lance and predictable enough that you could farm it for weapon parts while learning the weapon.

Paolumu shouldn't exist. Anything with any points should burst that thing like a balloon, and likely spray blood everywhere until it dies. I don't know how the hell Paolumu survived Evolution with creatures like Odogaron and Legiana around it, ready to kick its ass back to the trash can it's supposed to live in.

Elder Dragons in World are all really cool designs, but for Kushala in particular, I really didn't like how the only way to disable its aura was Elder Seal... When I first hunted it, I used a Poison weapons and did my darndest to break the horns and then it *still* blasted me with wind. It actually made the fight more challenging, yeah, but also a lot less rewarding imo. Call me old-fashioned, but I liked having the defined goal of breaking horns and poisoning for an advantage in older games. Elder Seal felt super underpowered so it felt like I was just a sitting duck half the time.

Ultimately if less grinding was required for some monsters I’d enjoy them more I think. I mean I know the purpose of the game is to grind and farm, but I grew to hate monsters like Teostra and lunastra despite liking them at first. More is less sometimes

I LOVED the Leshen. He was incredibly unique, different, and kept its defining qualities over from the it fought in the Witcher. It really felt like it just hoped thru a portal just the way it was, and both it and us had this sort of, ‘you feel familiar but at the same time, very different’.

I gotta say about Diablos and Black diablos. They are one of my favorite monsters because of memories of old games they would normally be in S tier for me but Iceborne ruined them. In base MHWorld they were fine they were still fun even though you can only carry 3 sonic pods compared to 10 sonic bombs of older games and you can no longer flash them out of the sky after a successful sonic pod or pitfall trap. I still enjoyed them. But they ruined their AI in Iceborne. They dig undergound so much if feels like they are doing dig attacks 75% of the time and they do it back to back over and over. So you just run around or guard if you have a shield most of the fight it's just not fun. you can only carry 3 screamer pods and I personally don't like to go to camp and restock unless I die. So I carry 10 screamer sacs to make more pods but screamer sacs are tedious to get the only reliable way is through tail raiders if the Noios are available in the wildspire route. So I haven't fought diablos in like a year even though it's one of my favorite monsters.

Since World was my first mh experience, Juratodus was just fine as a monster, I kinda liked his armor at the start it looked very nice tbh , buuut I kinda started disliking him after everyone was going on how much they hate the damn fish, I just couldn't resist the hate wave so like he moved from a Neutral monster to a monster I hate just because of everyone else's views XD

Screamer Pods against Diablos are like Flash Pods to flying monsters in High Rank. Even in Master Rank you can punish Diablos/Black Diablos every time they burrow. Your argument for Azure Rathalos being not that bad due to Flash Pods should apply to Diablos but okay. Good video regardless, that point just baffled me.
