I'd like to add that Toph also learned sandbending which she struggled with immensely, and not only did she learn it but based on her accurate and detailed sandcastle miniture of Ba Sing Se, I would say she mastered it as well. I think this is something that also makes her standout.

Strictly speaking, Toph and Bumi's claims don't contradict one another. Bumi claims to be the 'most powerful', whilst Toph says she's the 'greatest'. Toph could be a better or more skillful bender overall, but Bumi might just have her beat on raw bending strength, as it were.

Bumi was able to move large factory district sections of a city. A demonstration of ability that very few accept avatars have been able to do. He was also able to bend rock with just moving his eyes. He was also over 110 years old when he did that where is Toph's power was greatly diminished at 80 years old.

@@alaljarensi6990 Bumi lifted a 100ft pure metal statue of Ozai with nothing but rocks! The Boulder could barely lift Hippo with a rock. That makes Bumi at least 100x stronger than The Boulder. People say that Toph lifted Wan Shi Tong's entire library but that's actually a misunderstanding. She didn't actually lift the library, she just stop it from sinking at the rate that it was. Still impressive, but Bumi could have probably lifted it back up since it was made of rock.

Oma and Shu should also be mentioned. They were the first to learn from the badgermoles and they even created elaborate tunnels so that they could meet each other in secret. They created the earth bending we know today. Oma also single-handedly ended a war and created the city of Omashu. If not a ranking, they should at least have a special mention. Edit: The Dai Li are also powerful earthbenders. Sure, they are the bad guys but they have trained for years to be proficient earthbenders. The original Dai Li was taught by Avatar Kyoshi herself and we all know how powerful she was.

In my opinion, Bolin should have been higher than Ighwey. I know the Ighwey can feel the heart and breathing increase like Toph but he barely use his bending and when he did use it, he use it to escape and not fight. And instead of Ighwey i would have pick the Twins or maybe even The Boulder as strong earthbenders. Also, im glad that Kuvira gets some love for once.

He broke out of prison and fought off three white lotus members with just three rocks. He also completely leveled an entire mountain. Lava bending is hands down the most destructive form of bending, and he’s a master at it. I think he’s right up there with Kuvira.

Bolin should be higher on this list just on the virtue of Lavabending alone. It's easily one of, if not THE most dangerous and powerful of the Bending arts. It took the Fire Nation almost a century, Azula, and a giant drill to breach the walls of Ba Sing Se. It took Ghazan, a Lavabender, about ten seconds. Personally, I'd keep the list mostly intact, but would put Bolin and Ghazan just under Kuvira.

@@uselessundead9118 I agree in thinking it wouldn’t have been a clear win for Kuvira fighting against Lin. How did she get the edge on Su? She caught her off guard with her sword and metal cords. Lin is a master at using both (two metal swords/daggers at once intact) and she would have definitely used those weapons and/or knew how to fight against them defensively. I also think when it comes to sheer power as a earth bender, Lin is stronger than Su and Kuvira. Also, even while sick Lin was able to go up against Su and was only bested slightly IMO.

Bruh Ghazan should be #1. He literally took down the wall of Ba Sing Se and destroyed the Northern Air Temple in mere seconds all by himself, without much effort. Don’t think any of the others on this list could do that. Not even Toph. Also Bolin would fold The Boulder.

Well, that's kinda fair. He wouldn't defeat Toph, or Bumi, and I doubt he would defeat Kuvira, but the list is about the strongest, and, in power, Gazan is definitely one of the most powerful benders in Avatarverse. He literally destroyed an entire Air Temple alone

One thing that can be added for King Bumi is that while he was suspended in the air, with no contact to the ground, he literally managed to pull up rocks to free himself during the eclipse. If I am not wrong, I haven't seen even Toph doing that.

ur kidding right? later in the comics she learned to sense things in the air with her super hearing (not saying she can sense 100% and could beat a guy like zaheer who literally flies without making a sound) , earthbend while in the air and earthbend something that is not necessereally connected to the ground. Perfected the armor making technique. Mastered metalbending and perfected the going underground technique. She is literally seen dodging all 4 elements both in the comics and in the legend of korra and is able to bend without even moving." (Also btw mastered sandbending by atla's end) and mudbending as seen in LOK.

its because he was an airbender, he was too light on his feet for toph to sense where he was and he even used airbending during the fight if i remember correctly. besides, earthbenders stalemate against airbenders n vice versa LOL

Personally I think ghazan deserves the number 4 spot if not 3 due to his shear power and destructive capability in lavabending He has collapsed caverns, the in walls of ba sing sa and melted the northern air temple to nothing Can lin or suyin match those feats, it took both lin and us plus bolin to knock over 1 skyscraper

If King Bumi recommended Aang an earth bending teacher who has mastered neutral jing, how much more he did master it. He deserves the first place not without Toph but alongside. Because Toph invented metal bending, but Bumi could earth bend without touching it, when all other earth benders couldn't do it in that way. I personally see here he deserves more than first place.

Suyin: Collector of rare Meteorites.....among many other things like planning the building from the ground up 1-I understand Sokka is a ladies man 2-Toph in one episode thought Sokka saved her from drowning and openly said she loved him (Though this again is debatable) 3-Toph very much does not want to say who the dad is to the girls There is that chance that maybe Suyin's dad is Sokka :o Then again someone will hint she may have had one daughter with Prince Zuko or Aang (Though not likely) *I really want a Season two from this timeline for when they grew up to get some kind of closure*
