I realize this a list of studio albums and I almost agree 100% with your analysis but their live album is a must own too and Breach of Lease is taken to another level and any live Lp that starts with drug rescue announcements is a great opening. Peace. Btw, I don't always comment on your posts because I usually watch on my tv but I'm always lurking.
@scotthoyt89702 жыл бұрын
The only problem I have with the "live" album is that there are a couple of tunes that are NOT "live", but are the original recordings, with reverb and "crowd noise" added to make it sound "live". I noticed this the first time I heard the album and wrote to Stevie Hill about it. He wrote me back and admitted that they did that, and that it was Jim's idea because he felt the "live" versions were not good performances. Jim told them, "Nobody will know the difference". The band balked, and Stevie told me that I was the only person that noticed it! So, I guess they got away with that one. Other than that, it is a great album. They were such a fantastic band, on record, and "live". VERY innovative.

@@scotthoyt8970 that is sad to hear - kiss did the same on kiss alive - talk about fake crowd noise - though they didn't need to do that -

Hi Pete. Thank you so much for ranking The Bloodrock albums. After you ranked the Atomic Rooster albums I went back and listened to some of them because of the Peter French connection with Cactus. Some of the organ work reminded me of Bloodrock's Stevie Hill. Yesterday I listened to some of my old Bloodrock albums and thought when is Pete going to rank The Bloodrock albums? I went on KZbin a few minutes ago and Bam! Bloodrock rankings! I agree with most of your rankings but I would have ranked Bloodrock lower and Passage higher. Don't get me wrong. The first album is great except I think Fantastic Piece of Architecture is too high for Rutledge's range. Makes me cringe a little bit. Just my opinion. KZbin recommended your channel to me about a month ago. Been an avid fan ever since! You talk about things I'm very familiar with and things I'm totally unfamiliar with. Love it! You've really helped me in my chemo. Thanks again!

Hey Pete! Thank You for your BLOODROCK presentation! I was particularly excited as BLOODROCK is and always has been one of my favorite bands! Very underrated, to say the least. I just recently was able to find a copy of the "TRIPTYCH" 2 CD set. (Just got it about 2 weeks ago). "TRIPTYCH" is an essential for BLOODROCK fans, as like you mentioned in your presentation, it contains the un-released tracks for what WOULD have been their last album, "Unspoken Words". my understanding is that Capitol Records refused to release it, due to "dwindling" sales from the previous album, "Whirlwind Tongues", which I do not understand, as I thought "Whirlwind Tongues" was an EXCELLENT album, and a venture into more of a JAZZ kind of sound, while still keeping the "rock" elements of their previous efforts intact! To be honest, I NEVER DID like the depressing and morbid "D.O.A." at all. Actually, there is an "album" entitled "BLOODROCK 2013", put together by Jim Rutledge and John Nitzinger, I see that the entire album has been uploaded to KZbin! I have to agree that "Passage" and "Whirlwind Tongues" were both very different from their previous albums, but I thought both albums were great! It gave BLOODROCK" a chance to REALLY demonstrate their musical abilities, and that they were capable of more than just "heavy metal grunge / thrash"! My BLOODROCK album ranking would have to be, in order starting with "worst" to best would be as follows: 1). "2" 2). "Bloodrock" 3). "3" 4). Passage 5). "Whirlwind Tongues" 6). "U.S.A." Thank You again for the great BLOODROCK presentation!
@davideig42814 жыл бұрын
I would rank Passage as #1. Unfortunately, Pete didn't make a key distinction in this video: That Triptych partially due to the the change in band members, but even more so due to an almost complete change in focus was actually in a very real sense a DIFFERENT band than Bloodrock of the first 4 LP's. Starting in the second half of 1972 they went from a hard rock band to a prog/fusion/blues group with still a tinge of hard rock (which I myself prefer).

I grew up with this van. I’m from Fort Worth Texas and this band was very popular and they rock. They got a really bad feeling and while out on tour with Grand Funk railroad a friend of mine tells the story much better than I can but they were offered a deal that was horrible and they turned it down it was one of those you take this now or never and it ended their career. Friends of friends or friends of this band often feel Pantera was payback. But they had nothing to do with Bloodrock rock. I never got to know the members of blood rock with friends and my dad Pantera I did now personally great band of people I didn’t care for their music. Anyway vans out of Fort Worth Dallas area thanks for putting this up and talking about blood rock.

Hi Pete.....really enjoyed your video about (unfortunately) little-known band Bloodrock.......they were one of my favorite bands from the very 1st album. Then I was lucky enough to see them open for Grand Funk in '71.......an AMAZING concert all around. I agree with you.....my favorite of the first 4 albums changes on a regular basis, as they are all so strong. Just depends what mood I'm in. I also saw them after the "big changeover" (after Jim Rutledge, Lee Pickens, & Rick Cobb left). Although Warren Ham did an admirable job on vocals/flute/writing, etc, it just wasn't the same. Granted, I got to really like both Passage & Whirlwind Tongues after more & more listens, but it was a totally different band, as you know. Nick Taylor, after all, was the rhythm player in the original line-up, & didn't really have what it took to be the only guitarist, although it worked well enough in the new style that the band adopted. That being said, when I saw the later line-up, they actually headlined at a Buffalo, NY venue called "Kleinhans Music Hall", the place where the Buffalo Philharmonic performed, so it was sonically perfect. But unfortunately for the new Bloodrock, the majority of the crowd didn't realize they'd changed format, & kept yelling for D.O.A. throughout the entire show, which they no longer played, as well as any other songs from the previous line-up. I felt really bad for them, as they were still a great live band, just different. Keep up the great videos!
