Absolutely true. People tend to forget that during the golden years Maiden's writing team was a 3-headed monster of Harris, Smith, and Dickinson. When Adrian left after 7th Son, the next 2 albums lacked a certain spark to them. A friend of my said they're writing was becoming derivative. And once Bruce left it went all down hill. I don't think Maiden's latest crop of albums would be as goods as they are if Adrian didn't come back. Hell, he even helped out Bruce during his solo career and turned it around.

Seventh Son is seated at the perfect crossroads between 80s pop, traditional heavy metal, and progressive rock. No one element of the three outshines the others, and they exist in total harmony. I think it's Maiden's most creative output, and perhaps their last truly great record.

The Master Of Puppets of the Maiden catalog. The best of their entire career In my opinion, Piece Of Mind and Powerslave being number 2 and 3. Somewhere In Time was also their peak, Seventh Synth although a decent album, was the beginning of their decline in quality. I can't listen to anything past Fear Of The Dark. The Blaze Bailey bullshit is the absolute worst and Brave New World and onward is just boring, repetitive, repetitive chorus repeats, Jannik Gers (can't stand that piece of shit), Bruce's voice is irritating as fuck, he sings to the melody, mirroring every note of the guitar parts way too fucking much and it just flat out sucks fat cocks. "Gates Of Tomorrow" from Dance Of Death is the only song from the 2000's that sounds somewhat reminiscent of 80's Maiden, especially in the chorus part of the song.

@sex6cult9revolution2 жыл бұрын
Based on the sound alone, Somewhere in Time is the best one. On other factors, I choose other albums but it definitely had the best sound. A lot of this is because guitarist Adrian Smith (who wrote a lot of the material) helped bring in a new sound which was much more lush than the others. The sound was also augmented by the novel sound of synths (which previously they had said they would never use). On following albums (especially after the Seventh Son album), they opted to go back to more of their "classic" sound but your ears do not deceive you - this was as good as it got (in that way). And I'm also partial to Stranger in a Strange Land. Just a really well-written and dramatic song.

Those two albums are the first two cassettes I ever bought (yes that was the format I could purchase down here in Guatemala at the time - still have them) and the reason why I love heavy metal. People hate the NPFTD because they are musically very limited in their minds and don't understand anything that's not Epic/Progressive or Death/Thrash metal. They don't like real Heavy Metal/Hard Rock "from the streets". Most of them are Pantera and Slayer fans. That's only reason why they don't understand one of the best Heavy Metal albums.

As a senior Maiden fan of 54 I would have to agree with this, the sound, vibe, attitude, speed and precision of the first two albums had been unseen at that time and seeing them live on the Killers tour in 1981 is still the best gig I've ever been to. Number of the beast was also a monumental follow up to killers and that's where it ended for me until the book of souls.

Iron Maiden have always been my favourite heavy metal band. I love all their albums, but there are some songs that I can't stand ( especially Holly smoke, Woman in uniform, Run to the hills). My top 10 IM albums are: 1) Iron Maiden - my friend was waiting for me after school, sitting on the ruined wall of medieval castle with walkman in his hand. When I put on headphones I was instantly hooked. Great memories! 2) Somewhere in time - I studied history, so I'm caught soooomewheeeeere in tiiiiiiiimeeeee... 3) Killers 4) Piece of mind 5) Powerslave 6) Seventh son... 7) Number of the beast 8) A matter of life and death 9) Brave new world 10) Fear of the dark
