So Far, So Good...So What 9. Cryptic Writings (I know it deserves a better position, I really like it, but I think it is not as heavy as I wanted) 10. Killing Is My Business (as you said, killer album, but the original production is not good for me, the most recent remaster is awesome tho) 11. The System Has Failed 12. Thirteen 13. Super Collider 14. Risk (It is not heavy, and it sounds weird a little bit, but some songs I really love, like Wanderlust, Prince of Darkness and Doctor Calling) 15. What do you think of the remasters vs the original mix?
@frankdrebin2594 жыл бұрын
I wish Mustain didnt remaster/remix the albums. They really suck compared to the originals imo.
@MosoKaiser4 жыл бұрын
Amen! The 2004 remastes/remixes are horrendous, with perhaps the sole exception of SFSGSW, that one's decent to have alongside the original. Fortunately pre-2004 pressings aren't too hard or too expensive to get, though. Or at least they weren't when I updated my Megadeth collection for the older pressings. KIMB however is pricier if you want an old pressing with "These Boots" present _and_ uncensored. Shame the 2002 remaster has that godawful, unlistenable bleeped version of "Boots", and the 2018 version has an awkward reworked version with original lyrics to appease Lee Hazlewood's estate.

The recent re-issue of Killing.... is good.

Absolutely! For example, SFSGSW absolutely lost its (searching for the exact word...) grimy, dirty sound!?
@Composer196914 жыл бұрын
I agree... the exceptions ( for me) are SFSGSW and Killing is My Business. Killing NEEDED a makeover. I grew to appreciate SFSGSW without so much reverb/ delay effects.
@amostlyreasonableguy4 жыл бұрын
Robert Leese there’s a good remaster of TWNAH and The System Has Failed out recently that’s not a remix but just a remaster and actually makes both albums sound better. The drums have more depth and the guitar has more bite. Listen to Kick the Chair 2019 remaster on KZbin and check it out or Dread and the Fugitive Mind 2019 remaster. Both sound better than the original and weren’t messed with by Mustaine but by a professional mastering engineer.

Killing is My Business 10. Th1rt3en 11. The World Needs A Hero 12. Cryptic Writings 13. The System has Failed 14. Super Collider 15. Risk Megadeth for me is a band where though I've been listening to them for most of my life, what I view as their weaker albums are albums I practically never listen to. There are tracks that I enjoy, but as an album? They don't do a lot for me. Still, an important band for me and I freaked out a lot when I first bought and listened to Rust in Peace in my CD walkman. I hadn't actually heard any of that album before, only Megadeth song I had at home was "The World Needs A Hero."

Ok, so I guess I'm part of the small minority that actually likes the Risk album. Is it classic thrash Megadeth? No, but that doesn't make it a bad metal/hard rock album in and of itself. I happen to really like Dave's vocals, and this is a strong album in that respect with loads of catchey hooks that I find myself singing along to. And if you listen to the last 2 or 3 albums leading up to this one you can hear the progession that led to Risk. I guess I like this one for the same reason I like Rush's Signals... because it was so different from anything they had done up to that point. Unfortunately (IMHO) Rush continued down that path, where as for Megadeth it was one and done... they got it out of their system and then moved on. If nothing else, I find Risk to me more memorable than the 6 or so albums since then that kinda all sound like the same formula and all run together in my mind. To each his own.

Not their most consistent album, but there's a bunch of quite good songs there, it just doesn't quite sound like a Megadeth album. It would have likely gotten a much better reception had it been released under another moniker.

i started high school in 86 and through to 90 when i graduated i was absolutely submerged in the Thrash Metal scene, it was EVERYTHING to me. but right as i was graduating i was getting really disillusioned with everything, ALL the artists i loved were putting out or had just put out new albums that completely underwhelmed me. and i was sort of falling out with my big group of friends who had ALL flunked that year because they were constantly going out and getting into more and more trouble, and i had sort of spent my senior year at school with none of them around because they were expelled. we are talking like a core group of like 30 people and they were ALL expelled and running around all day and night getting in trouble because i wasnt with them and i was always talking sense into them when they wanted to do stupid crap. it all sort of started with "And Justice For All" and i was just so underwhelmed by the production sound and the material, but then like Nuclear Assault put out "Handle With Care" and it was lame and i didnt like the production sound. and Sacred Reich out out " The American Way" and i didnt like the production or material, and Suicidal Tendencies put out that "Feel Like Shit Deja Vu" album and it sucked. and "Seasons In The Abyss" came out and it was better than the others but still after the previous 3 it underwhelmed me, and the same with Overkill and "The Years Of Decay" it was ok but after "Taking Over" i was underwhelmed and i like a few of the songs but about half of the songs i just ended up finding flat out annoying after awhile. and it all sort of ended with "Rust In Peace". again i did not like the production sound and it just didnt impress me, i already knew who Marty was and he is a very skilled guitarist but to me he has never been a Thrash guitarist and i just didnt care for it i still dont know why it is so beloved by so many. maybe i was just a poseur, maybe i outgrew it, maybe it was just a phase i dont know. but for 4 or 5 years i ONLY listened to Thrash Metal so i am glad it happened, because it gave me the chance to go back and listen to a lot of other things i had ignored and discover a lot of music i really love, there are so many more things out there than just liking one genre or style. for me personally it is always going to be "Peace Sells" and frankly i would trade the entire catalog for just an epic full length version of "Good Mourning".
