Ranking the Trap Masters - Portalmaster Ranks

Hey there guys! Today I'm back to rank another set of Skylanders, the Trap Masters. This was a lot of fun to make as I love the Trap Masters. I'll be back in a bit with another ranking video for your enjoyment!

I also used to put my finger in Kaboom's cannon too for a funny reason Toys for Bob and Activision never wanted anyone to do. ;) Lol. Luckily my Kaboom's cannon didn't get cracked. I did sell him two years ago.

I don't get why many people hate the Trap Masters. The figures are amazing and they have a lot of power in the game. Ive never got Bushwack and Wallop (I'm about to do it this Christmas) but I can tell Snap Shot, Enigma, Knight Light, and Tuff Luck are the bests, when it comes to their playgame. The figure of Knight Mare is the best, I literally think she's a masterpiece

I think the main hate is that they're just like new Giants. Crypt King is one of my favourite characters, and half of em have super fun giant weapons.

I like them and the senseis the most giants were okay and I didn’t like swapping people that much made them feel less unique as a sole Skylander I usually never swapped skylanders unless I needed to. Trap masters have unique weapons. Senseis let u play as villains.

• I totally agree with Head rush getting last place • Same applies to Blastermind ( He's low key forgettable TBH ) • I agree with how you placed Gusto Too • I like Bushwhack’s design it's good , but not great and I also agree with him not being fun to play as • Jawbreaker looks cool , but I hate the drawback when he attacks + they made a villain in imaginations that looks just like him which made him feel less special. • Thunderbold isn't that fun and I don't like his design • I love Kaboom he looks cool and I love his personality in Academy, but his gameplay is kind of simple. • Enigma looks amazing one of my favorite designs in the franchise , his gameplay is good but some trap masters are better I would switch him with lobster TBH • I don't like Tuff luck’s design that much I just don't like her proportions. • I love Knightmare and I agree with her third ability not being that strong • I Like Lobstar’s design , but I kind of forget about him a lot I would place him lower TBH • I love Snapshot and I agree with your placement and your critics • Wallop is a power house , but I don't like in game model his face looks kind of like play dough instead of looking furry • I love Wildfire and I agree with your placement ( his gameplay is really fun and unique ) • I love Krypt king one of my go-to Skylanders whenever I play any game and I love his name and design ) • Gearshift is amazing one of the best Tech Skylanders ever...too bad I don't own one :( • Short-cut is very unique I don't own him though so I don't know much about him • Knightlight is one of the best looking Skylanders ever he is what I think of when I think of a hero that is capable of saving Skylands I love him.

I can't tank blastermind superlow. not because I enjoy him or he's super good. No no. I can't tank blastermind low because he is amazing at utility. Being able to skip every lock puzzle without having to constantly pay Auric for skips is amazing. Plus the fact I can completely skip the weird item skill locks in imaginators? Totally worth. Also you know his mindwaves can proc stuns while still being moderately mobile. So I abused that on Battle brawl island.

​@@kalorvalas6274 I know this was 3 years ago, but I had no idea that Blastermind's soul gem works in later games. I thought it was something that the developers would just forget about, but thank goodness they didn't. I'ma get him now just because of that, he is super useful. And since I plan on getting 1 of every element for the Trapmasters, Swap Force, and every Giant, I have no need for Enigma since other Skylanders do what he does.

I couldn't agree with you more with the list, I love lot's of them especially for design, and voice but some of their attacks, I just couldn't get good at. (If you hadn't, would anything change if you counted what happens in their bios) Great content, keep up the good work!

My list goes as follows: 1. Enigma 2. Lob-star 3. Wallop 4. Krypt King 5. Gear-shift 6. Jawbreaker 7. Ka-Boom 8. Knight Light 9. Thunderbolt 10. Wildfire 11. Short Cut 12. Knight Mare 13. Bushwhack 14. Snap Shot 15. Blastermind 16. Gusto 17. Tuff Luck 18. Head Rush Just some context: 1-7 Amazing, some of my favorite characters in the game, always loved to play as them 8-15 Not as good as the top but still quite enjoyable 16-17 Fun but not as fun as I was led to believe 18 - Not bad at all just not very interesting

Enigma is so strange. He's one of the few Skylanders that you can't jump out of an attack until it finishes, leaving you vunerable. In Trap Team, its the staff smash attack, and in the later games its his main attack. This is so frustrating.

@@opinion_populars Very strange. Trap team was a unique game, but he wasn't anywhere near an overpowered character. I'd put my money on this being a programming oversight.

Knight Mare is great. I like the design of Knight Light as well but I prioritize healing and survivability a lot. And Knight Mare has that.

I dont have all of the trapmasters, so it's hard to say if I agree with this list or not when it comes to these, but from the ones I have, I agree on many points! I'll (try to) rank the ones I have, just for fun: 11. Head Rush 10. Blastermind (apart from the fact that he can unlock the lock puzzles without us having to do it, he really isn't that great) 9. Gusto 8. Ka-Boom (good, but a little too slow) 7. Snap Shot 6. Krypt King (same as with Ka-Boom, but really great otherwise) 5. Jaw Breaker 4. Wildfire 3. Knight Light 2. Tuff Luck 1. Knight Mare I tried ranking them as good as possible, but the last 3 was very hard, as I just love them all and really enjoy playing with them! Though of course, all of the trapmasters are unique and good in seperate ways✨️💖

My great complaint with the trap masters. Is that so many of them had two upgrades on their final paths that were JUST combos. They used to package all combos into a single ability on skylanders, and then provide two.real tangible upgrades afterwards. I thought this was fine. But when you sometimes have 66% to 100% of a character path being Nothing but combos and no real upgrades? That's insulting and frankly just annoying.

I’d disagree on the snapshot call when you talked about his third attack. If you run the path strengthening it, it’s an insane CC move that binds enemies and deals continuous damage. It was easily my boss killer when I ran into them until I unlocked Cuckoo Clocker. (He’s best for one shotting bosses in any difficulty btw)

I have four Trap Masters. My least favourite used to be Ka-Boom but now it's Short Cut, and my favourite used to be Knight Mare but now it's either Ka-Boom or Snap Shot.

Hey PortalMaster, I recently started playing Genshin Impact and thought that the style of play would be similar to what a future Skylanders game would be like. Starting with one character and having to grind to open Lootboxes that contain upgrades, outfits and even other Skylanders. What do you think

When you ever rank the 18 original senseis (King Pen, Ember, Ro Bow, Air Strike, etc.), that will be interesting because in my opinion all of them are very unique and powerful in their own ways. Like, for me, it's just hard to pick which ones to rank low. I think they're all fantastic overall in terms of power.

I have to admit even if Trap Team is ridiculously expensive it had probably the coolest set of Skylanders produced. Enigma is probably my favorite of the bunch just cause of how regal and ethereal his appearance is. I love the Light & Dark Trap Masters, and I very much want the Light & Dark Dragons, but boy after hearing Crypt-King and Gear-Shift described I very much want them! But what exactly is wrong with Blaster-Mind? (Other than him looking like a Kaos clone.)

This is my ranking: (I dont have Knight Light, Enigma and Thunderbolt) 15: Snap Shot (Realy dont like his design) 14: Head Rush (Just a meh design and skillset) 13: Wallop (Is very good but only with his first attack, which makes him very boring to play) 12: Gusto (Just overall not that good) 11: Blastermind (Same as Gusto) 10: Wildfire (Very good in battle and an amazing moveset, but i just dont like/use him all that much 9: Ka Boom (Fun to play with but quickly gets boring) 8: Gearshift (Very good skylanders but i dont like her overall design. I do love her moveset tho) 7: Tuff Luck (Fun moveset and cool design but i just dont use her much 6: Jawbreaker (Fun to play with and a very cool design) 5: Knight Mare (Cool design and fun to play with) 4: Krypt King (His attacks are realy fun and i just LOVE his concept, he looks like skeleton pharaoh. 3: Lob Star (Love the creativity of his attacks and he is also just very good) 2: Bushwack (He looks so incredible in game and his attacks are soooooo fun, i use his chestnuts to stun enemies and then i can swing the axe or headbash to kill them. His axe is also very powerfull and i love his voice and personality) 1: Short Cut (His attacks are sooo fun and creative, and also just look at the little guy he looks soo adorable, even tho he can chop your head off)

Except for putting Gearshift to #1 and dropping Ka-Boom to dead last, I can't find any real issues with your rankings. And, it was nice to see someone not crap all over Tuff Luck, everyone is always singing Bushwhatck's praises, but if you find Drobot to be a one attack character, how can you really defend Bushwhack. Tuff Luck is a much more interesting and nuanced character to play as, and that makes her far more enjoyable.

In my opinion, I would switch the rankings of Gusto and Thunderbolt. I actually like Gusto. Thunderbolt to me is really underwhelming and boring. Also Gusto is a lot more popular. But I do think that Thunderbolt is a good character and is great for someone who is new to the game.

Blastermind is way better playable character in the 3DS version than in the console versions. Yeah, Trap Masters, Giants and Imaginators are type of skylanders that haven't aged well and are least enjoyable, at least in my opinion. Senseis, Superchargers and their vehicles are pretty enjoyable but are also too gimmicky to be truly enjoyable skylanders. Only gimmick skylanders that I really enjoy are Swap Force, and if they are counted, Lightcore skylanders.
