Yes but pretty much every one of the main bosses is just "spare until you reach the end of the attack pattern." However ones like Papyrus had and Muffet (discounting the ways to skip their fights) had things like the soul modes to keep the fight interesting. Toriel really didn't. One thing I really liked about Deltarune is the increased amounts of ACTs that are little minigames that you have to do in order to spare the enemy. It helped keep the fights more fresh even after you've already figured out the sparing methods.

The battle isn’t really the focus - it’s the story (most first time players literally don’t know that it’s even possible to die to her). Thinking about how toriel is the final boss of the demo and is the first boss of the game, it makes sense to make her just spare spare spare ‘till she gives up. Same thing with Asriel Dreemurs fight. But, this is a ranking of difficulty and not story, so I still agree.

@@zgaming8721 I've watched a couple let's players play their first playthrough and they knew that there were different endings, but were otherwise blind. The boss they struggled with the most is Toriel and they accidentally killed her. I first played this game mostly blind (I heard of Sans, the different endings, and the battle mechanics before I played) when the Switch version was released (I barely trusted my PC at the time to play Minecraft, and wasn't taking my chances with the Steam version). I also struggled the most with Toriel and accidentally killed her. I personally reload my save just so I can do that.

I count Papyrus capturing you as effectively a game over because it makes you have to restart the fight. And well Papyrus is skippable that isn't really the same as beating the fight so I didn't count it for the ranking. Asriel on the other hand doesn't give you a game over when he kills you so he lands at the bottom.

Well, Papyrus captures you, and you have ro redo the fight, and the "prison" is really close to the checkpoint, so I would count it as technically fying, even if you do not actually die.

Um, AcTuAlLy Sans in most cases would probably have at least 11 HP since according to the Inn in Snowdin Town sleeping can make someone's current HP go ABOVE their maximum HP (sleeping at the Inn makes Frisk gain 10 more HP if I remember correctly). Sans probably almost always has that HP boost since he sleeps so often.

Undyne took me about three or four hours. Sans took me, and I shit you not with this, over 4 years for me to beat him. I probably could have beat him way quicker if I kept at it instead of slowly giving up after a few weeks (with only a few times where I went back and retried until I finally won last month), and I definitely missed out by playing on the switch without a keyboard to exploit the wall slam attacks, AND I lost all my snowman pieces to Undyne, but still. Sans’ fight absolutely deserves the reputation it has for being insane. You need to be extremely persistent and it drags for so long that by the last attacks you’re probably almost more likely to die because you’re fatigued and making silly mistakes, even if you know what’s happening.

in my opinion, undyne the undying is harder than sans. sans is definitely harder on your first attempt for both, but his attacks go in a set order. it only took me around 2-3 weeks to be able to almost nohit him. (nothit first phase, only get hit by menu bones second phase, no heal). meanwhile, undynes attacks are the exactly opposite, as they are nearly entirely random. there are certain health marks that tell you when some attacks happen, like the rotating spear red soul attack happening when she is half hp or below, with the non rotating version happening directly after, but its mostly random. also, this may just be a skill issue, but unlike doggy i have always had trouble with the green soul mode. its the only one i struggle with. ive never beaten undyne the undying before in my life, though i still to this day try frequently. to do my first geno run, i had to cheat and skip her. after getting to sans, i practiced on bad time simulator, and though it was slightly harder because i got used to specific things that dont happen in undertale itself, i still beat sans first try every time. after beating geno, i went back to undyne, and thats where my save file still sits to this day. idk if ill ever win, but ill keep trying. closest i got was about a quarter hp left.

Personally, blue soul mode is much harder to me than green soul mode. But graveed ive killed undyne the undying for fun alot of times due to it being ny favorite mode so you are probably more used to blue soul mode from experience aswell

I would think that would mean ranking attacks easiest to hardest not “oh you can’t die on this fight therefore he’s the easiest” No I mean look while technically you can’t die you’re still set back a tiny bit but in regards to everything aside from that Asriel is one of the more challenging fights in the game You want an easy boss fight where you can’t die I’d say papyrus as even toriel you can still die to but you have to either get unlucky or actively try to die to her That and her attacks are slightly more confusing with the way they sway back and forth but still easy but not easier than papyrus I mean realistically if you wanna be technical you can’t die in this game period as saving and reloading is a main staple to this game towards the end so technically every fight you can’t completely die to due to the power of determination So yeah I think just because you can’t die to Asriel it’s a poor excuse to rank him the easiest when he absolutely isn’t

The best thing is that while you said that if Papyrus weren't holding back he'd be number one remember that Sans simply doesn't give in his all 'cuz he's lazy. Papyrus trains a lot and is in perfect condition and beats your ass and only doesn't kill you because he doesn't want to. All the while Sans is lazy, fat, low on stamina (due to lack of training) and is so cynical about life he doesn't see any meaning in actually doing his best.

Hard to say for sure. Asriel's attacks and damage probably could land him at #2 above Undyne but the ACTs you can use in the fight would lower the difficulty a lot. Not sure if he would be above Sans even if the ACTs where removed though.

I honestly only learned about glyde because I was trying to get every last price of exp I could get so I could be the maximum highest level I could be in order to fight undyne the undying... 36:00 As someone who played the Switch, Xbox, and PC versions of this game, I recommend playing through the Bits and Pieces recreation of the fight if you only have PC. Because there's some things that the recreation you use won't tell you because there's no turns. The first thing is that this fight has a betrayal kill ending. Another one is that it's the only fight in the game (besides So Sorry, IIRC) that you can enter after defeating Asriel Dreemur. There's a couple of things but I don't want to spoil it.

Asriel starts you a few turns before you died and there is no true "fail state" for the fight. Papyrus capturing you may not exactly be a true "game over" but it serves the same purpose as it does require you to start the fight from the beginning. As well you don't really "win" the fight by losing three times it just allows you to skip it.

The bottom four are pretty interchangeable all things considered. I put Doggo above Toriel because Toriel's attacks actively start moving away from you at low health whereas Doggo's attacks are simply all blue. Doggo is easier to die to if you are trying to.

The Asriel fight is difficult to place since it doesn't really follow the structure of a typical boss fight. Like the Undyne The Undying and sans fights it's pretty much a gauntlet; but whereas Undyne's fight is a trial of perseverance and sans's fight is designed to frusterate you with all the BS it pulls, the Asriel fight is designed to encourage you to finish it. It's by far the most plot driven encounter in the game; you're compelled to complete it. You're not trying to defeat or kill him, you're trying to SAVE him, which is the whole point of the pacifist run. Thus the Asriel fight is more akin to an interactive cutscene than a traditional boss battle. So while I understand your reasoning to place Asriel Dreemurr at dead last, I would like to say it feels like a bit of a disservice because it kinda implies it's the worst one in the game. I would've listed it as an honerable mention instead.

I'm super salty about Sans being no. 1. Imo, Undyne the Undying is way harder than him; Her attacks don't have a set path, and you swap between green and red. Sans is quite challenging despite dealing one damage thanks to his karma effect. But let's be real, if IV frames weren't removed, he'd be scored lower. But that's just my opinion, everyone can disagree and have their own opinions ofc.

Undyne's attacks actually are on a cycle like Sans. I think the difference is that she has more attacks that follow the player (the spear circles spawn so that the player is in the center for example). As well the green sections always have the same arrow patterns.

I have to argue about asriel's placement, sure you cant lose, but i think papyrus's fight is much easier, you cant lose AND after you "lose" like 6 times papyrus lets you go

Losing to Papyrus means you have to restart the whole fight while with Asriel you only have to survive a few more attacks. As well I count beating Papyrus as beating the fight not taking him up on his offer.

photoshop flowey is easy like i only died once to photoshop flowey on my first playthrough and i die multiple times to bosses on average and even tho it throws so much stuff at you the flamethrower basically stalls for time as its pretty easy and you gain a lot of healing
