In 2004 as a striker a team was build around you for you to score so u didnt have to search the ball, I feel like nowadays teams set up to play a type of style/tactic and as a striker ur meant to go search the goals. And with the defending i feel like the defending has got better because there's less space to dribble and everyone knows how to play as opposed to older gens where there were gaps all over, you had teams playing flat formations like 442 and if you get passed the midfield you're immediately at the defence and everyone played like how united play today bare gaps everyone and lack of support, you can even go back and watch kaka's games, the amount of space he had was insane

Nah I can‘t agree, nowadays it‘s harder to score then back in the day. Only Haaland makes it look easy. But defenders are faster stronger fiter and also teams are tactically way ahead of back in the day

it's statistically not true tho, more goals are scored today than ever before.There has been a huge goal inflation post 2010. It's just not the strikers getting the goals, it's more often wingers now. Also players are fitter, and run more over 90 minutes, but they're not faster. Humans have not gotten faster lol. Overmars or Anelka or Henry would still blitz everyone today.

Unless you mean, his 2004 version is plopped right into a game instantly with no extra training/tactics knowledge, then yeah you're right. There's literally a clip of an old Overmars demolishing a young Cristiano Ronaldo in a race, these guys would adapt to the modern game fine. The biggest change has been tactical refinement imo, attacking was way more off the cuff back in the day.

Of course because in life there’s a lot of things that were better in the previous generation in comparison to now. I think Haaland is absolutely in all time convos, and for me personally I think he's already the 2nd best PL striker ever after Henry and 3rd best overall after R9/Henry, usurping Suarez. Suarez is nice against Norwich, but athletically he ain't all that, I like forwards who have mad pace and power, who strike fear in opponents, and his goalscoring is just undeniable. R9/Henry are untouchable though

Flick volley vs United, solo dribble goals vs Liverpool, Real Madrid, Spurs, backheel against Charlton - TONS of bangers, volleys, finesse, first time finish. The guy was literally an anti tap-in merchant from 02-06. His ratio of good goals to goals, might actually be the best in history.
