I love that yuzuru can proudly walk the line between “masculine” and “feminine” costumes. My hope is that he inspires future male figure skaters to dress as confidently as he does. It’s such a loss to the beauty of the sport when the guys limit what they wear while the girls always look their best. Also, great video. The ETUDE COSTUME was actually his memories from the 2011 TSUNAMI incident in Sendai. He said that '' I DONT WANT TO REMEMBER THE VICTIMS AS A SAD STORY" so he wanted to skate with all his heart and the incident in his mind. The color of his costume represent the WAVES from that incident

@@yuzuponbitch when it was revealed we mostly referred to it as the seaweed costume (which is fitting since it's paying homage to the tsunami) Most didn't like R&J 2.0 aka boobskirt, but when one of your idols designs a costume for you I guess you have to wear it out of respect (let's pretend burnt bacon costume doesn't exist) and compared to the glorious R&J 1.0 it was a little disappointing. Etude is iconic, that was the most gorgeous costume that season and remains one of my all time favourites from any skater. Hope and Legacy is basically Etude 2.0. I am so glad he wore his original Seimei costume for the Olympics, the purple mesh on the sleeves is a better touch than the bright purple. Overall, Yuzu's costumes are some of the best, he is comfortable in his own skin and doesn't care about the whole "I'm a man I don't wear glitter" talk that goes on with the men. I mean as far as stigmas go, if you're a male figure do you think it's going to make a difference if you say I'm a figure skater who doesn't wear glitter? Yuzu takes his costumes seriously and I appreciate that. If the ladies have to, so should the men.

My personal list: 1) Hope and Legacy (it's hecking iconic okay- beautiful in literally every sense of the word.) 2) Otonal (idk you said you didn't really like it?? which is valid, but damn was it so beautiful for me. Blue just looks hella good on him.) 3) Romeo and Juliet (both versions are my literal faves- ur opinion is valid but for me? King, absolute King.) 4) Seimei (he looked p h e n o m e n a l at the PyeongChang Olympics- I'm biased towards the asian-style okay. I also didn't really like the GPF one, but that might just be more camera work problems. Olympics was in HD so...) 5) Phantom of the Opera (1st version from CoC is gorgeous, but he probably has bad memories linked with it. ;-; I decided to rank this one 5th just because I didn't really like the second version as much.) 6) Let's go Crazy (i LOVE LOVE LOVE the purple version- BEST. CHOICE. EVER.) 7) Etude (I don't know this program as well; I am regretful to say that I'm not an old fan- not new tho- but blue is just his color man) 8) Masquerade (He looked... okay he always looks fantastic and beautiful, but here he looked like an angel of death and I'm digging it) 9) Requiem (idk this performance is one of my favorites and I cry every time I watch it, so I'm probably biased, but then again, the greenish-blue and swirly style is very pretty) 10) Origin (okay for this one, the first version was absolutely stunning and if not for the second version, Origin probably would've ranked higher. For some reason I didn't really like the purple version. The texture was very interesting, but I felt like it was overdone and didn't have that simplistic artistry that most of his other costumes have.) 11) Vertigo (the pants. IT'S THE PANTS- THEY'RE SINFUL.... not that I'm complaining. Other than that, it just felt too simple in comparison to all of the others. It still looks great on him tho.) 12) Notte Stellatta (idk man, the performance is breathtaking, and never fails to give me chills every time I watch it, and his costume is very beautiful and makes him look incredibly angelic, but... for some reason I just don't really like it. I feel like the v-neck was a little too deep and sometimes doesn't look good on him. It also sometimes makes him look a lot fatter than he actually is because the feathers make the costume a little bulky, but it looks very tight on him, therefore making him look fatter than he actually is, especially around his midsection and waist, which are normally very thin. It's just my opinion tho.)

I also think Hello, i love you goes hand in hand with Vertigo (those pants...) The step sequence after he takes his shirt off, the hydroblade and the glide on his knees before he exits the rink are chef's kiss and those pants definitely do them justice. Honestly, a simple top is all he needs with those pants to make a perfect outfit. P.S. the " ladies and gentlemen we're going to take a brief intermission before yuzuru hanyu loses all of his clothing!" part still cracks me up every time.

Yuzuru has the best costumes in male’s figure skating in my opinion. A lot of other skater’s costumes come out as boring to me as they are generally a long-sleeved shirt of one colour and pants of the same colour or black. I’m happy that Yuzuru is not afraid of ”pretty” costumes, sparkles and different kinds of silouettes. My absolutely favourite costumes of his are Notte Stellata, Haru yo Koi and Seimei.

it's actually quite easy, 01 is the version that came out first. for example origin 01 costume came out in 2018 and origin 02 came out in 2019. some costumes actually have versions 03 and 04, the list just goes on 😸
