Ransom Rest - 1911 Accuracy Test Colt Delta Elite - Episode 3

Dedication To Charles Irby -- Charlie was very fond of video's that gathered data. Charlie is no longer with us and I wanted to dedicate these 1911 video's to my Marine Brother.
In this series of videos, I will be testing the accuracy of 1911 from 25 yards away using a Ransom Rest. I will fire 6 shots using my own handloads 165gr FP 10MM. For the actual test
Federal HST 200gr JHP
6 shots will be used, only counting the last 5 shots towards the actual group size.

Years ago when the 10mm came out I own just about every 1911 Style 10 mm there was, the Delta Elite was junk. When I bought a 1006 Smith & Wesson that's the day I will never look back to all that other junk, it is the ultimate 10 mm firearm

You need to try a Rock Island double stack 10mm, now if you can get ahold of the Big Rock (6" barrel double stack) you'll fall in love! I've owned a few of the original Delta Elites and the 2ng generation Deltas,but always come back to Rock Island!

I would to try my older Kimber Target II, a blued one, in a ransom rest. off of bags i can keep it well under a inch at 25 yards, 5 shot group, with my handloads using Everglades 230gr bullets and Bullseye powder.

Do you think chrono data would correspond to the outlier shots ? If you have an easy set up chrono, like the Garmin, it would be a nice extra .

I will add chrono for a vid or two as I am curious. BUT the science behind this thing is appropriate torque on the screws and it requires settling shots. It also should be used from a sturdy table. I called a few machine shops to see about building me a some what but yet moveable all metal table.

@ I don’t question your method at all Elijah . I hope it didn’t come off that way . If my recollection serves me right, it was first shot flier on the other pistols tested too . Cold bore shift on a pistol? Great series my friend . If I lived closer I’d bring you mine. I just don’t trust the shipping companies enough to ship it .

If they still make them like they used to I'm going to go with the Les Baer having the best group. Also I know it isn't a 1911 but I would be curious to see how a HK45 does compared to these considering it was specifically developed to replace the 1911.

Colt accuracy?? Meh! Never had one that was good out of the box. My first Gold Cup was dismal. Had to replace the barrel and tighten up the works. I would choose another brand first like a Kimber or Springfield, or ulitmately a Les Baer. Colt's reputation has gone down the toilet, IMO.

Testing mechanical accuracy. Think about it now. So you are holding the pistol so still no movement at all getting them in the same hole or getting lucky?
