I have to wonder: why isn't there villains who have noble intentions to create a better society where nobody has to suffer under oppression and misery? While Anime like Naruto did go overboard with making too many villains being the "seeking world peace" kind of characters at least it was done to make the villains compelling and interesting so i can respect that. It would have been interesting if there was an antagonist organization fighting against the broken system and being lead by a Batman like character who has peak strength, martial arts skills, weapons and gadgets and uses strategies, tactics and analytic skills to defeat quirk opponents, making him resemble the idea of what Izuku could have been if he didn't get OFA.

With AFo at least it is more understandable why he would turn evil (assuming he wasn't born evil). He and his brother were born and grew up on the streets without a parental figure (though it makes absolutely no sense how babies could survive on their own) and society showed them hatred at worst and indifference at best. Inherently evil or not AFO died, and I doubt they are going to redeem his ghost, but I can't tell for sure. It is also possible that the author will pull another type of ass pull, like AFO not really being dead, or coming back to life somehow, but I highly doubt that. Anyway, besides the bs of the brothers surviving as babies, it really makes no sense how Joichi turned out this compassionate and sane, yet at the same time way too preachy and hopeful that people can change for the better. He grew up on the streets just like his brother, the latter offering the former clothes, while he himself was wearing rags. Joichi saw with his own eyes discrimination against people with quirks, to the point of murder sometimes. His brother was the only person who took care of him and even made sacrifices for him. You could argue, that Yoichi didn't turn out like his brother, because he himself didn't have to fight or that people react differently to stress, but you are missing out that AFO was the only role model Yoichi had and as stated, most of the world wasn't much better than his brother if at all. Yoichi isn't just able to feel empathy, he is willing to sacrifice himself for the society that has mostly scumbags and is very hopeful that serial killers will change for the better without even really doing anything to redeem them. Adding to this bs is the fast that Joichi tried but failed to redeem his own brother and he never managed to redeem anyone. You might be saying that he is too frail, but he can talk to Deku and other users. Deku said he wants to try to redeem Tomura, but he never actually tried anything in that regard, he just fought him (though to be fair, fighting is the best option, since no way is Tomura making a change of heart after a conversation). My point is, if Joichi is so goddam glad Deku wants to try to redeem Tomura, yet didn't even some up with the slightest idea on how, why not give him some advice, try to come up with a plan, ask the other users, question whether Tomura is redeemable or not, or I don't know, just give up redeeming Tomura. Regardless of what you think about those options, it is better than doing nothing. He is also utterly convinced the villain always loses in the end, even though he saw a lot of bad people who didn't get punished for their deeds. In his defense, he barely got any education and he had a traumatic experience, so it is understandable he would be deluded to cope with the pain, but he reacts more like he grew up around loving people which helped him to some extent at least with the trauma, rather than having only a murderer taking care of him while the rest of the world didn't care if they died. The story present him like a brave hero, but he is more like a preachy teenager who, while clearly has good intentions and doesn't see the world in black and white, doesn't really think things through. He yelled at his brother multiple times and even threw a can at him at one point when they were children. Granted, his brother is a monster, but AFO is super strong, how is yelling and throwing cans going to overpower him, and if it didn't make him change his perspective when they were kids, why would it change it later? Not to mention that AFO could squish his brother like a bug if he wanted to, so pissing him off is dumb. It is pretty impressive that he resisted his brother this long, but he only got the stock pilling quirk by dumb luck, AFO wasn't able to take it back by dumb luck. We also never hear Joichi complain about society as a whole or try to solve systematic problems. Granted, it is hard to change the system and you can't change other people, but considering how much he preaches about justice, you would think we would get at least one scene of him having to say something about it. Now, just because he isn't that great of a hero, this doesn't mean he is a bad person, far from it, and considering he didn't have much of an education it is actually surprising he didn't do more dumb things, but the narrative never points out his flaws, at least not directly. I am not saying he should be punished or hated, just that at least a character should show disagreement or question him at least sometimes, or act differently than how he does. Honestly, the only achievements Yoichi has are passing OFA on and being determined enough to prevent AFO from getting OFA. But even then, he only obtained OFA by dumb luck and he isn't the only one preventing AFO from getting OFA. In fact, the other users are probably determined enough to stop AFO without him anyway. Joichi is even more useless than Sakura. Yes I said it. At least Sakura managed to pull some impressive moves in a fight, even if she never won a solo fight. I know what you might be thinking, Joichi was physically weak and sickly, how could you berate him for not doing physical fighting? I am not, the point I was trying to make is that she shows competence on her own at all. Joichi didn't have to be a fighter to be competent on his own. He could've showed competence by managing to convince Deku to not leave U.A., by actually managing to convince his brother to become better even if just slightly, by protecting someone else with his body, by offering medical support, the list could go on. To be fair, the first two examples were about changing other peoples' perspective, which he can't do unless they themselves want to change and he probably never had the opportunity to do the last examples. I don't hold this against him as a person. I do however hold it against the narrative, for not showing that he can be as competent as he is described. Also, at least Sakura had moments of doubting herself and feeling guilt. Joichi isn't a bad person, just kind of delusional and preachy, but it makes him frustrating as a character, since we all had moments when we doubted ourselves. To be fair, he did feel deep sadness for failing to redeem his brother, but we saw way too little of that. We also never saw Joichi tell his brothre something like "Society in general is bad for hating you just because you have a quirk.". It could be that he did it off screen and I am not expecting this to redeem AFO by any means, but it is so frustrating that we didn't get to hear this character who preaches so much about justice show sympathy for the villain for the injustice society does to him, especially since Joichi wanted to redeem his brother. Now I don't outright hate Joichi, in fact my biggest issue isn't his personality itself, but how the narrative handles it. The fact that it makes no sense how he turned up the way he did given his backstory, the fact that his views and achievements aren't nearly as awesome they are presented as and how he is barely relatable and entertaining.

They should have done this instead: Toya Todoroki/Dabi could have undergone body modification at the same time as Shigaraki however his process will take a shorter timeframe (1 month) with the purpose to withstand the immense heat of his Blueflame quirk. the Overhaul quirk can be used to heal any injuries or ailments that Toya once had by reconstructing him to a biologically perfect state. All this happens before the first war arc.

If he, the doctor, said that there’s no logical way for him to still be alive then there’s no way his test could have saved him. Shigaraki had the same thing going for him, the only reason he survived was because of his hated. Also with the Dabi/Touya symbolization, there’s has to be some logic for that. If Hori had done that cliché in anime where they confront themselves in their mind (like the Endeavor thing in the recent chapter) it would’ve been fine but to have him break into his own house just to pray to himself when he could’ve confronted his family right then and there is just kinda dumb.

I respect your opinion Triggered Senpai but I disagree that the fight with Dabi is over, look closer at the glowing orb panel and his chest has healed, it is absolutely certain that he is regenerating, I am not advocating the Phoenix theory but the fact remains that he is regenerating. Bad writing or not it is what it is. If you noticed lately Horikoshi is no longer introducing Quirk Awakenings, he’s going even beyond that and is introducing bypassing Quirk Singularity like with Shigaraki growing those 1000+ hands. Whatever is causing Dabi to regenerate right now is in my opinion the same with Shigaraki, he is bypassing Quirk Singularity, is it a Deus ex machina? probably, but it is what it is and it’s inevitable from the way Horikoshi’s writing at present. In real life Physics, the Laws of Physics break down in a Singularity, bypassing Singularity in a sense would be going beyond the limits of understanding, in short : a miracle. In a sense, bypassing Quirk Singularity in MHA would be akin to introducing Quirks that is beyond all rational explanation in-universe. Flames that heal, Shadows that create Light, etc. and all seemingly miraculous Quirks can be introduced by Horikoshi. Is it bad writing? one could say yes and that it’s a massive Deus Ex Machina, but it’s happening already in the Manga and that’s a fact that can’t be denied.
