Hi Bunny! I've worked in retail, and one of my BFFs currently works in luxury retail (the fancy boutique stores you're talking about). The staff of your local Prada store don't know where your bag is at. They don't have access to info on where it is in the queue. When they give you info like "we're waiting on a part", they're guessing that's what the hold up is based on damage reports for similar problems. I recommend asking for the number for the regional office, and elevating it to them. If you're going to get aggressive at anyone, a regional rep is going to be someone who MIGHT have the power to do something. The staff instore have likely already been flagging the bag as "urgent"... but it's literally out of their hands, and if they have any communication with the repair facility it's probably by e-mail of the "look, we'll get to this bag when we get to it" variety. It's also possible that the bag has been lost. That happened to me with a jacket I ordered. It got lost in shipping and it took me six weeks to get anyone to admit that it was lost. I recommend a) elevating the matter with a regional rep, and b) asking for the bag back in whatever state (fixed or un-fixed or half-fixed) it's currently in. Get it fixed somewhere else. If they can't return it, push for a replacement. Did you have to sign any paperwork when sending it off to be fixed?

Yes, that is true. My mom and I were supposed to have a special meeting with my school about some problems, and the school kept beating around the bush due to miscommunication. In Brasil we have a government organ that takes on any complaint and helps the consumer. The organ is called ProCon, sort of like Pro Consumer. We have an entire section os laws dedicated to the consumer and stuff. They usually even charge the company depending on how bad the case was. There's even a TV show where this lawyer goes around helping people that got screwed over by companies and such. I think there should be a similar organ in the US, even if it's not run by the government. And I think especially you being a beauty and style KZbinr and taste maker they should really pay special attention to your case.

So I used to work for a high-end boutique where we carried Miu Miu (Prada's sister company. Miuccia Prada designs for both, but Miu Miu is a little younger and funkier) and we handled all repairs for our clients. Repairs have to go through the original design company, so I spent a lot of time working as the liaison between clients and the original companies repair centers. We didn't often get Miu Miu bags or clothing in for repairs, but when we did, unfortunately it took a long, long time to get anything repaired. Miuccia Prada is my favorite designer. I honestly think she is brilliant and is definitely one of the best around (and this comes as someone with a BFA in apparel design), so it was always super frustrating to think this isn't an uncommon problem. I would say, with my clients, it often took 6-8 months to get a bag repaired, and this was about four years ago. So at the very least, the bag probably isn't lost. Unfortunately, this is standard for Prada. ):

Just to specify though, there are a lot of damage reports you have to go through. Sometimes it took us a few months just to get all of the info we needed to over to the repair centers. Our clients didn't have to pay for their repairs when everything was said and done. Generally handbags are covered with a lifetime warranty for most repairs (given they weren't clearly inflicted by the user - ie. Pen explosion, scratched all over from being set on the ground, spilled food, etc. - those are just a few I've encountered)

I disagree and agree, I love designer bags, as a rule of thumb they are a lot better quality; from the hand finished painted edges or stitching for example... There are many designers that design for functionality. However brands like Chanel are becoming infamous for decreasing there quality which has led to a lot of investigations and problems like bunny. Saying this, designer brands are a luxury because not everyone can afford them, you are paying for them but you are paying for the look, and designer bags aren't really made for lugging all your folders for example, they are, as stated earlier, purely for aesthetic reasons.

Mr Bill could be in the atelier for Loewe or YSL or any other LVMH company making those bags and they're pure craftsmanship allows us to have such named bags, that are so beautiful. We do pay for the name but we pay for the people who make them too, to have a livelihood. A quick example is, mulberry. A great respected bag manufacturer from England and as we all know they are handmade. They are also considered cheap in the luxury bag world ( as bay waters start at around £850/$1300 ) these bags are made by the Jon does or Jane that used to make the same bags you were saying you could buy for $10, so therefore can we not deduce that a lot of bags that cost so much more are made by the same people. But the only thing different is the price of material. The amount of man hours that goes into a single mulberry Bayswater is over 150manhours putting that into consideration, the price can be justified.

You're allowed refunds on games etc within a certain time providing you haven't started DLing it. It's awful that a bag of that price broke so quickly D: To put it into context, I got a £15 bag for school and it lasted two years, with constant overloading and wear and tear before breaking at the strap whilst I was walking down a corridor. If an averagely priced bag like that can stand constant abuse for two years and survive, I'd expect a designer bag of over £100 to survive more than four years at least.

It's not too bad, but I bought a car and it obviously wasn't cheap. With purchasing my car, as a convenience, I receive free car washes and oil changes. Every time I go to receive either of the services, they are SO RUDE. I seriously dread going to get the oil change so much that I almost want to go somewhere else and just pay to get it done. I'm sorry about that. I often experience bad customer service in so many companies. Employees tend to forget to leave their drama at home before they come to work and serve their customers. This is actually one of my biggest pet peeves. And mind you, I am a really nice person.

I completely understand your frustrations. Prada should have NEVER told you guys 6 to 8 weeks even though the bag was being sent back to NYC (supposedly). In reality, I believe these luxury companies always send back their bags to the place where they were originally made (I believe for Prada it's Italy or Spain). I know when you bring a bag to be repaired at Chanel, they will flat out tell you that it takes 6 to 8 months minimum for a bag to be repaired. It's all plain RIDCULOUS I know. Not sure why it take so much time, but at least Chanel warns you off the bat. This whole Prada situation is completely crazy. I personally haven't had any issues with Prada, but after hearing this, I will make sure to be extra careful with my bags. SMH. Hope your problem gets resolved soon.

this makes me so mad as well, I bought some designer shoes only 4 MONTHS ago, and the price was insaaaane. I thought "well, it is beautiful, it is better quality, must be worth it" YEAH RIGHT. the vinyl literally detached itself from the front platform after only months!! I took it to the store, they said they would "try to get in touch if there was something they could do" and then nothing! I totally understand this Bunny, this is infuriating to say the very least. when you put so invest in something you really love and it costs a lot, you'd expect SOME kind of respect at least. I am definitely not buying designer things again, it's just not worth it. my heart goes out to you and your mom, knowing how much it meant to both of you. love you loads :)

I take anti-anxiety meds and i ran out thinking i had another refill so i call the doctor and the lady at the desk was like "well its gonna take like 4-5 days" which if you take something like that you'll know that THATS NOT GONNA WORK so i told her what it was and that i needed it asap and she just said "well you should take better care of your prescription.......we'll call you tomorrow" like. what. well anyway 3 days pass and i call again. finally someone nice answers the phone and she said "theres actually no request for a refill in your file." WELL AINT THAT WONDERFUL so not only was the first lady rude af, she didnt even send it in! luckily after i talked to the second lady i got my medicine back and all was normal but geez! you cant say stuff like that to someone with an anxiety disorder!

I know benzodiazepines are addicting and I did try switching to something that wasn't once (I can't remember the name of it now) and it couldn't manage my panic attacks. And you're right, doctors will even tell you to absolutely not just stop taking an anti depressant either because the withdrawal symptoms can make you sick. To the original poster, if you see this I would try and find a different doctor if you have problems like that. I got so frustrated with mine I switched to someone else and I am so glad I did.

I feel like Prada has lots of manufacturing problems, I have these awesome Sunglasses from Prada that have large black crystal like stones on the side and top corners I think they're called the "Prada Oversized Crystal Cat Eye Sunglasses" from he Prada Voice Collection. And Like your mom, I had seen these and just fell in love. And they were 400+ dollars when I got them last year, anyway not even a year later one of the stones just literally fell off, and I researched how they go about fixing those types of issues and I literally struggled to find one good experience from a customer so instead I just got some E6000 glue and glued it back. LMAO they're still amongst my favorite sunglasses. But it was very upsetting when it happened.

I had a retail company that when I asked the associate to put some clothes on hold for me so I could think about it. She said sure 24 hours ....yadda. I turned to look at something else near the cash wrap before leaving and I over hear the associate talking to another associate about putting the holds away. Associate #2 goes to grab them looks at the names on all the hold tickets and says,"Elaine? What kind of a name is that?" I turned around said, the name my mother gave me and walked out. It was a few years ago. I mean I used to work retail, so I know there are off days, but really? Bunny's situation more sounds like the associates she is dealing with don't have the proper training or lack of knowledge on how to handle the situation. There is no way this is a unique one time fluke in the history of purses, so either management isn't training people properly or the wrong people are looking into the situation. I don't know what Prada offers for these situations, but if the store isn't able to help her, she might have to start bothering the repair location. There should either be a number on the slip or a way to look up the correct number. Sorry to hear that you are going through that Bunny. I have other retail stories to tell you of where I felt for the people and their situation, but as just a store associate it was out of my hands.

They really aren't worth the hype, I've had a few and about 2-3 years into it I sold them all off. You tend to worry more about protecting your product then enjoying it. It was nice why lasted but now I have a closet of nice things I don't use and because they are "off season" not much profit in reselling. Buy one enjoy it but not worth collecting.

Louis Vuitton has very good customer care. I recommend buying your bag from there. My mom has this old Louis Vuitton from the 90's and a couple strings were coming out just a little and they fixed it for her really fast in like 2 weeks. In Portugal all items purchased new have a 2 year warranty (from cars, to clothing, handbags, electronics...etc). If the item breaks during the warranty time, they have to fix it in 30 days or they have to refund in total or replace the item.
